Guys someones going to have to sticky a post about spamming ncsoft and what it did last time.  There are still those who don't seem to be taking any consideration at all about whats going on and riding on their emotions at the expense of everyone else.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Where'd that come from? I haven't heard of it happening once again, just concern about it but we're all past that now

Oh one person on the save city of heroes page was trying to say indirectly it was ok to spam ncsoft and that spamming them wasn't what caused the last deal to fail.  The person was being about as thick skulled as it gets.  Like she had no capability to think about how her words affect anything nore had any political smarts(talking about the general social environment, not national politics).

Edit: I already added her to the ignore since she was just being a self righteous troll.

You know, there are some people that if they found a button that if pressed would destroy the planet they would have to press it just to watch the world burn.

Yeah, pretty much.  I worry about just about any person who doesn't have any working frontal lobes.

Maybe there should be a test.

Where are you seeing the spam? Twitter or somewhere else? I just checked NCSoft's main Facebook page and the amount of spam by City of Heroes fans is at an all-time low since the closure. There was only one person recently admonishing NCSoft for closing down the game, and one person later who politely suggested to CoH fans, "...Just trust me, you're not helping." Which is probably fine, I can't really think of a better way to ride that line.

We also have to be careful not to jump on social media en masse, asking everybody not to spam NCSoft, if that results in our making more noise than the spammers are currently. It is definitely a balance and a judgement call and these are only my opinions.

And in the case that someone is making too much noise and you're dead-set on calling them out for it, maybe you should PM them discreetly instead of calling them out publicly. Point them here and give them some reassurance.

Some points to spread around: There's nothing wrong with occasional tweets that lament the loss of City of Heroes. "Loved CoH @NCSoft, your best game yet." Do it once, not ten times. And do it without insulting the company or any of their other games. "Love Wildstar (or whatever), miss CoH." Whatever, the point is, there are many ways to say that you liked CoH without saying that you dislike NCSoft. On the other side, pretending to be so quiet that it seems nobody cares about CoH anymore is missing the mark.

The time for outright war ends when negotiations begin. Strategy 101. Nobody is lowering themselves.

If I recall correctly (big if), wasn't there a component within the Sentinel files that would provide a tip-off, in case of any changes made to the data by cheaters?

Quote from: TonyV on August 23, 2014, 02:22:10 PM
This is correct.  Included in the file is a checksum using a Super Sekrit™ proprietary complicated calculation method to ensure that any file edits can be detected.

Having said that, there are still ways to exploit the inventory system.  Specifically, you could have, for example, loaded one character up with all of your influence, purple IOs, and sweet loot, exported them, then loaded another character up with all of your influence, purple IOs, and sweet loot, exported them, lather rinse and repeat.

So if a game ever does make use of the export files, we suggest that it only be used for character definitions (costume, colors, power customizations, level, powersets, etc.) and badges, not tradeable inventory.

Aha, thanks for clearing that up Super Tony.

By the way that's your new name. Super Tony.

On the topic of knockback, it's a shame they never made an ability that knocked all effected targets in an area towards the center on the ability (Like a singularity of sorts. Not the Grav pet.)

Funny, I kicked childish people who whined about knockback on a regular basis, "Contribute to the team" Oh yes, what a detriment it is to have to walk forward a little more than usual because our blaster has a power set BUILT AROUND KNOCKBACK.

Oh the humanity.

if you are intentionally negating other toons abilities to the detriment of the team, yes you should be kicked. one mob goes flying, not even a little deal. scattering an entire group out of the aoe attackes of multiple toons..yes it is a big deal. an easy solution is to let the kb fiend run in, blast them away, and let the group converge on him as they kill him. then use your aoe's on his corpse. no problem. I have no problem with abilities with kb. just with people that think they need to scatter every group

OK you typed this while I was replying.

If that's the worst of our problems I think we'll be just fine. :P ;D

I think the epic fail on Galahad's behalf is the best part of that.

I raise you some college humor.

I honestly don't think that's the case at all. In all reality the game was probably getting played out for a lot of the those older players. I'd think that most would relish in the opportunity to start their progress, in a game they thought was gone, over again.

If we can get our old stuff back, great. If we start all over again with nothing.... great. I will do either.

But was the game "getting old" for me, as a veteran player? was it "played out"? No it was not. This was handily offset by the ability to try something new.

WHAT???!!!!!!!!

Are you serious, this is the scariest thing I've heard since, well, news of the original shutdown.

And if you help spread this sort of rumor around, do so knowing that you could be hurting the negotiations more than anybody. I hope that doesn't come off argumentative or rude. If the rumor is false, spreading it can only damage interest in the game's comeback. If the rumor is true, spreading it can only damage interest in the game's comeback. Once a rumor leaves your lips, you can't control the manner in which it propagates or mutates, or whose agenda it might serve.

NCSoft is not going to hop on Twitter and FB and chat with fans about their data storage policies or circumstances; and nobody in the industry got to where they are by discussing their employer's underwear drawers. So there's that. On the other hand, a lot of you feel like you'd return to CoH no matter what. Don't superimpose your feelings on the fickle masses who aren't here to speak for themselves though--they are any game's bread and butter.

But by all means, let's continue to talk about it on this public forum with 24,000 members.

Now now. That seemed awfully condescending. Everyone was a part of over-talking the boundary and no one realized it until it was too late so it's not fair to snap, we all made the mistake at one point. Even you were involved in the "Being Heard" thread.

Maybe I read it wrong but just came across like that. Keep in mind any people who haven't been following anything and just got here now will have more increased emotion than the rest of us who understand what is going on. I think it's important to say what needs to be done, neutrally.

That's why I apologized in advance--I know how it sounds, but I also didn't want to go too easy on the point. Because wow, that is one whopper of a rumor for us to be sticking in bottles and floating out in all directions. The thing about rumors is, by the time the third or fourth person gets hold of it on some other message board, it's being presented as fact. Meanwhile, there would be hundreds of posts here for people to come and sift through for clarification. They might have jobs. ;D
