Hehe, oh I'm sure eventually someone will find a counter the mobs could use in AE for everything :).  I already know how to insta-kill players and still remember some pretty nasty demonic spider combinations in AE :).

Didnt AE very much.. so Im not very familar with how AE worked..

Not one of mine, but I saw a guy running around in nothing but white shorts.  His name was Tighty Whitey.

The best character name that I ever seen was a Female Stone tank named "Dirty Ore". That one cracked me up.

New manuscript started and new characters made in Icon...and I got sucked in.  Since I lost my Sentinel files when my computer crashed a year ago, I am peeved at myself for not taking pics with the power bars on.  Who knew I'd forget what my characters secondary powers were?  Willpower or Regen?  Urgh.

Friends!
Can you ever really return to a world you lost?  Maybe!

awful long link:  http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2014/08/sierra-games-returns-with-new-kings-quest-and-geometry-wars-titles/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+arstechnica%2Findex+%28Ars+Technica+-+All+content%29

This week I found out about another company/product coming back now nearly 14 years since the last published title.   Through a series of unfortunately corporate buy-outs/sales and departure of original creative talent the KQ series seemed relegated to computer gaming history.
No, this is not an MMO, but this is a series very dear to my heart and childhood.  Sierra On-Line's King's Quest series was the flagship of 80s/90s Adventure Game market.   I like to think these games were the predecessor's to the modern social/networked MMO with concepts such as graphical user interfaces, good story telling, problem solving and towards the end a very crude combat system.  Prior to this the great-grand-daddy of games was command prompts and text based games which I barely recall. Zork!

Anyway, I wanted to share a link and wish everyone a happy friday.

Thank You
Duane

Good news indeed! I played these back in the day, including Zork. Heck I still play around with them occasionally. From where I sit typing this I see an elvish long sword of great antiquity, a brass lantern and sign that reads;

You can pick almost any powerset combination that players could use in AE, and even bend and break it and have things like both a ranged and melee attack set for instance.  And their buffs/debuffs were just as nasty as the players, so you could for instance make groups that are utterly immune to melee attackers without much difficulty by say, making every mob a storm summoner(they'll stack hurricanes/tornados/freezing rain, which leaves you utterly unable to attack and vulnerable as heck while also being 100% unable to hit anything with melee).  It was important to balance enemies so they could be beaten but still provide the level of challenge you want them to provide.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Sorry folks we are just in a quiet time while things happen. I haven't been posting this weekend because I have been really busy!

Nope it's not a prank. I don't have a gag order it is just in one of those stages. I have had people contact me and other people have verified who and what the team is - including Tony V and a few others. I would never be that cruel. In this case no news is good news it means things are still moving forward. Once the team satisfies NCSoft they are technically competent then it moves further. It is a step by step process.

August was the goal but that doesn't mean August 1st!

Heatstroke has a contact in NCSoft who confirmed that a deal was underway - they don't know the specifics of the deal however. If you doubt if its real you can contact Tony V for confirmation. I often get these kinds of doubters and I think in fact they are just trying to get me to prove it by naming the team - not going to happen.

It is just a quiet point right now.

Just to repost I will add my contact information again.

Former Ansteorran squire here...lmfao

I knew there were a few Scadian's here who would appreciate it but I didn't quite realize how many. :)

There was more to the back story of that toon. Not long before I created it I had a very clean shot blown off by someone on the field. I gave the guy the benefit of the doubt and didn't question it but when I got off the field I had a few people come up and tell me it was a very nice shot and that the guy was known for not calling blows from women even if they hit hard.

The incident came to mind while I was playing with the costume creator to see how close I could come to making some of the Scadian fighters I knew. And no, I did not model the toon after the guy who didn't take the blow, though I was really tempted.  :D

I just played a bit of this last week, at Computerspielemuseum (the English version of the site is unfortunately out of date, but the German version is current), a video game museum in Berlin.  It was amusing watching players before me try to get into the white house by smashing the boards on the windows and door (which, of course, didn't work).  That said, I've never gotten to the end of Zork.  (At least, not an end that didn't involve getting eaten by a grue)

(Also, there's a Zork homage in Kingdom of Loathing, in the form of a "strange leaflet" you get at level 9 that sends you on a text-adventure sidequest)

Aggelakis

Three Old Guys (Eric Neustadter, Jeff Green, Dan Amrich) played Zork - with audience participation - at last year's PAX. It was hilarious and facepalming (people are really dumb).

They're playing falling-object puzzle games (Tetris & similar/clones) this year. Not sure if it's going to be as funny, but I'll be seeing it anyway because Dan Amrich is a witty guy - and also there's no other panels of interest at the time (currently).

I teamed with this bloke for a while in the Incarnate Trials. There's a name to be proud of. XD

Oh and I remembered an alt I had made for a halloween contest one year. The theme was "homage"; we were supposed to make a take on one of the signature characters, but not a direct copy. So I went as Paws-itron:

Now I wish I had a screenie of my Mousietron somewhere... Very similiar to your take, but with different ears, and white/pink color scheme.

Man. I see all this awesome creativity with the costume creator and my one call to fame was teaming with a random guy in the RWZ, realizing he was terrible and making up an excuse to go do something else and then ending up published in a UK gaming magazine.

Since we are talking about future characters and I am coming up with names... I have a question.

I never really saw that many real named heroes... like celebrities. I can think of a few properly named celebs whose names would make great super hero names... like.. David Copperfield as an Illusion controller. My question... does this type of naming violate the TOS? Would that name be genericed under the old CoH rules?

It would be safest to assume that it would be genericed.

Side note: Does anyone else remember that idiot who thought he could make a character that looked like Marvel Comic's "Vision" (with a similar bio, even), and thought no one would recognize it?
