Have I ever told any of you the one about the little bird that forgot to fly south for the winter?

Anybody have any really cool gimmicky concept builds they made using IOs they want to share?

My Stone/Stone Brute used primarily brawl and the punch from the fighting pool, 6 slotted with damage proc IOs, and everything else slotted for recharge and regen. Actually turned out to be an extremely viable build with how fast I was throwing out punches, could solo most AVs with it and if all of the procs went off it did more damage than my Seismic Smash.

With the IO regen/+max HP bonuses, stacked with Rooted, and the max HP boost from Earth's Embrace, I had 12%/sec health regen, I was almost unkillable, not even taking into account using Granite Armor as an emergency backup. :P

Curious if anybody else tried something wacky like that.

I don't have mids at work to pull the build in, but my last project I was working on prior to the shut down was a crab spider with perma pets (both from powers and power pool). This guy was a beast on paper, but I only got him to maybe 30ish level before the end.

I had some 7b in influence/infamy to grab the IOs I needed too. When the game comes back he will be my first project after re-making my main kat/regen scrapper (unless we get characters back, but I'm not holding my breath on that)

Don't have mids on hand, but I remember making my main ice/rad troller with the purple confuse proc in arctic air and the lockdown proc in choking cloud. I had my troller soft caped and used leap attack with the ragnorok proc for the initial knockup lay down ice slick and literally just stand there while everything is constantly knocked up, confused, slowed, held. The control on this build was so good, I can stand there go AFK 30 seconds come back, the ice slick would be gone, but everything is still controlled. You can tank AVs with this build (making it even better because you have Radiation Emision (-def, -acc) and EF (I forgot what EF stood for, but that have -res, -dmg). Anything Psi was pretty much game over with the Psi Mastery indomitable will and Mind over Matter. It also is nice that ice/rad had two pb aoe hold (Glacier, and EMP) and you have a decently smart pet that tries to smash everything with greater ice sword, except in the cases against knives because of the cats, jack would freak out running back and fourth on the patch (I think it was a side effect of changing Jack's AI. People complained that he only thew ice bolts and never went into melee, the devs changed it so jack only used ice bolt on flying targets and whenever possible use ice sword and greater ice sword.) Funny thing even pre incanates, end wasn't a problem with this build. Damn I missing playing this toon.

Wow sounds scary... Those CC archetypes could get ridiculous with the right procs in the right places. @_@

Baffled, the farmer looked up into the salesman's face, and said " look here, young fella, a pig that good, well, you just don't eat him all at once."

First time I read a version of that joke was in Tales from Jabba's Palace.

Not me! You should tell it.

Someone has definitely declared o-pun season on bad wordplay.

See, I'm not sure things like this are puns. I always thought of puns as words with two meanings - for example, that guy over there smoking pot on top of a mountain is really high. Whereas changing a word because it sounds similar isn't quite the same - like saying a cat is "furtunate to have found a good home somewhere, it must be feline good." I don't think those should count.
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

Hmm. I see your point. In the above "fortunate" is more of a portmanteau. "Feline" is probably still a pun, though if it was unintentional it could be an eggcorn.

Best thread ever.

We went from "YAY!" to "Are you lying to us?" to "I want all my toys back!" to "Yay!" to "Are you lying to us?" to "Check out my build!" then "Yay!" to arguing about puns.

Hahaha <3
Reminder: No game = No data, no characters...nothing.  However, no data/characters != No game.

I was hoping we'd have news today since it would have been my 8 year anniversary of playing the game...okay, I'll hope for it by my birthday in November...

In regards to game play in SWTOR...I have been playing as subscriber since almost 2 weeks prior to launch and I still find it fun.  Yeah there are some issue with how each class is portrayed. But the story arcs are unique enough to keep me playing.  There ideas character individuality is sort of off IMO...little things like who can use what class of weapons is abit silly.  And the grousing about Lightsabers being nothing more that Light bats is valid...but they had to keep the scale in line with other things.  If a lightsaber could slice through anything but a cortosis weaved armor or another Saber..there would be little want to play any other class....so I allow that as a given.

I am unhappy with the rehashing of skill trees...which makes me irritated like the Nerfs COH did for the Arena..which they promised they would not...and the Enhancer debacle.  (This was usually brought on by the PVP types.  LOTRO had it too with the Hunter Mafia whining that Runekeepers stole their niche...same with the Guardians grousing that Wardens could tank better and thus stealing their role)  I can see patching to fix bugs...but stop the nerfing....as going to a least common denominator gives you only downward with which to make further corrections.

True the side quests are duplicated for all classes..but that is from the way they modeled the game's voice interactions.  It would be tough..and not cheap...to make the 10Kish quests one has in say LOTRO...for SWTOR.  It is the same problem with adding new content...voiced interactions would have to be created..or modified and that costs alot of cash.

The lack of new content is mainly due to the voice interactions with the game NPCs,  It is not easy to try to add something new...except at the end...because it requires continuity with the existing voice chat.   The calls for new classes have been sort of ignored because of the same issue with voicing the interactions.  Many of us wished they made the Smuggler and Bounty Hunter Neutral classes and replaced them with an Imperial Soldier & Republic SIS agent..but again it would require a major overhaul.  That was the unexpected trap they fell into when it came to new content.

I am posting this to address some other comments I have seen on here about SWTOR.  Ofcourse with the 2.9 update rolling in...my tune may change.

Now as for COH....if that were to indeed return it would again become my game of majority...with LOTRO and SWTOR would still be played.  I would have ZERO issue with starting anew...other than some asshat stealing toon names of characters I have and would want to remake.  I would play with the final set up...and buy the few missing sets just to have access to them.  So by all means Ironwolf...please PLEASE keep up your efforts.

I have also been playing SWTOR since launch and I have to say that of all the MMO's out there, this one is the the closest in gamplay etc. to City of heroes.

It has been a while since we had any news. Any way we could have at least a word once per week? Even if that word is that things are still looking good but nothing new to report???

That's the default assumption. If you don't hear anything on a given day, assume that things are still looking good but nothing new to report. If anything bad happens, we'll hear about it just the same as if anything good happens.

On a more serious note, saying that "Everything I say is a lie" is NOT actually a paradox. Any ideas why not?

Because nothing in it prevents you from lying part of the time, specifically when you say that you always lie.
