City of Heroes 2: Let's Make Out  :-* :-* :-*
Viva la Virtue!

How about in honor to all those idiots out there who kept telling us to "move on" or "get over it" when we were shut down...

City of Heroes: Suck it!

I'd have that one for the CO player who said he was tired of hearing us talk of missing CoX: "I miss my dead grandmother, but you don't hear me carping on about it" (more or less the wording he used).

We have a really good chance of getting our virtual home back. I wonder how Grandma's coming along.

My favorite dedication to people like that from the end of the fourth (and not final) season of one of my favorite shows:

Wow. That is actually pretty appropriate all things considered. :)

Not sure if you guys should laugh or cry I still have the formulas in a note pad I had with some of the formulas for COH

final CTH = (1 + accuracy) * (base tohit - defense + tohit buffs)

On top of that there was a cap you always had a 5% chance to miss no matter what and always had a 5% chance to hit no matter what
Of course for NPCs it got a little more complicated since enemy rank could affect things like the minimum tohit%. i can't recall the exact formula any more, but it's worth noting that due to floors on some values final tohit numbers were not always as simple as the formula suggests. So an enemy's chance to hit might be a fair bit over 5% no matter how high your defense was.

All 350?  Man, ever since it took off I'd been struggling to keep up, i'm mostly skimming back and forth anymore.

I envy you can do that LOL.
Only seeing 141 pages in this thread. i think i'll go see if i can reduce it further in my forum settings.

Edit: Nope. 50 posts per page is the maximum allowed.

A minor digression: The "ts" in Tsoo is pronounced closer to a "ch" sound than an "s" if i recall correctly. Which does alter the pronunciation of names in a possibly more cannibalistic bent for characters like "So Tsoo Me" and "A Boy Named Tsoo"...
So far so good. Onward and upward!

Yes but that was the basics of the formula for players I think the Floor for an AV was 7.5% but it has been so long I am not 100% sure

Ts in most Asian-flavored languages is almost a... "hard s" - like an "s" with your teeth closed and your tongue against the back of them.

Hope I'm not derailing the thread here, but this is my first time posting on these forums.  I didn't play the game as long as some of you, so my attachment to it didn't run quite as deep.  I started playing in 2009 and took a break for a few months before resuming my sub.  Lo and behold a week later I see this warning that the game was closing down.  With the way NcSoft handled the termination of the game, I had my doubts that they would ever consider allowing the game to operate in any form.  I kept up with the Efforts to rescue CoH.  I have always checked back here on the forums mostly to keep updated with the "City of Titans" project, so I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this thread.  City of heroes was my first mmo, since I'd pretty much stuck to first person shooters prior to that.  To be honest I can't remember why I even downloaded the trial, but I was hooked the moment I realized I couldn't level past 15 without a sub.  Since the servers shut down I have played quite a few mmos trying to find something that compared.  I have yet to find anything that held my interest like CoH.  I currently play WoW, since I have co-workers and friends that play (yes I feel obligated to get that out of the way because I swore I would never sink that low lol).  I have actualy enjoyed some of the aspects of it barring the somewhat toxic community, but I would drop it in a heartbeat and return to CoH.  I remember someone speaking of CoH as a comfy pair of slippers...and they were right on target with that.  Anyway just wanted to drop by and say hi and to give a big thanks to all who have stuck with this from that dark day when the servers went down.

Yeah it definitely came to me just popped up and I was like well if we are most likely having the game at Issue 24 why not possibly call it that.

Derailing this thread? I'm pretty sure it's gone off the tracks a while ago.

But something I thought of with the combat talk, I have yet to find a game that let's you smack as many enemies as CoH. CoH was my first MMO. Everyone I knew called groups of enemies mobs. "Go grab the mob". Then I would go to WoW and they would say grab the mob and it's a single enemy. It confused the crap outta me that first few times.

I wanna smack mobs again. I am anxious to see who is trying to purchase the game.

Ugh...Yeah...

One of my least favorite things about WoW...

Moving between the enemies is 8/10s of combat. You can't just jump into a massive mob of enemies...

From the MMORPG dictionary at MMO.com: "MOB is an old programming acronym of Mobile Object Block. Mobs are all computer controlled characters in the game. You should likely use some other term such as monster, creep, or bad guy."

But, not being a programmer, I always use it to refer to a group of PvE opponents.

Who ever said that...what an ass. I miss all my grandparents, parents and other loved ones that are dead and if carping about it would bring them back that would be my full time job. But that's not possible. But returning CoH is. While it's no where near a substitute it helps take the edge off.
