I may have to try it as a multiform in the Champions RPG... I don't even want to think about how many points it would end up costing to do it well, but I'm sure it's possible.

I've seen werewolves built in Champions, don't see how a Kheldian would be much more difficult. Now how many points it would take is another story.

Well, since we're still having these feel good talks about our time with the game, I have a few questions I'd like views and opinions on.

Did any of you ever try a Super Reflexes Tanker and what was it like?

I had a SR/DB tanker near the end and i liked it a lot. I can't quote the numbers but for sheer 'you can't hit me' fun, it was great :) Of course, sometimes a hit would get through but you avoided a lot of the debuffs that could normally cause annoyance and you could enjoy running circles around sappers etc.

"Gimp" is also a real-life slang term, generally regarded now as offensive...

I've never known the word "gimp" to be offensive unless you use it in a way that's deliberately a slur.  It's sort of like "gay"--if you're describing someone who is homosexual, I don't know anyone who finds it offensive, and if fact, it's the word most of them use to describe themselves.  If you're using it as a synonym for "stupid", such as in, "That movie was so gay..." (assuming you're not talking about a movie that is literally about gay people), then it is offensive.

I've always known it to just mean crippled, with no negative connotation.  I've actually heard people who are disabled say things like, "I have a gimp right leg because of the accident."  Looking at the Webster's Dictionary definition of the word, I don't see anything indicating that it's offensive.  The Wiktionary definition has one use of it marked derogatory, if it's used to mean "A name-calling word, generally for a person who is perceived to be inept, deficient or peculiar."  I can see why that would be considered offensive, but I don't think that means that the word used in other contexts is verboten.

Anyone who is physically disabled want to weigh in?

That WITH makes ALL the difference. What he's saying is, IF we have a clean slate, he hopes more people will be willing to do low level content.  You're missing the WITH and that completely changes the sentence.

That would of course be true if he had not started with this:

And his HOPE is not projecting a demand on anyone. He's merely hoping people would be willing to do the low level content instead of power levelling.  That's a perfectly reasonable hope, and by NO means, a demand.

Not sure why the word "demand" keeps being attributed to me.

Aww, that sounds hella fun, I wish I would have spoken up at the time and asked others about it. I was just convinced in my own mind after 50 levels of an SR Scrapper that it was gonna be that aggravating for any melee AT. Simple logic escaped there because it was so obvious to notice by comparison how other sets like Shield Defense and Invulnerability functioned better for some ATs than others. I derped. lol

Let's put this into perspective here.  You are taking it personally and he never once said he hopes you lose your characters.  This negativity is something you've attached to the whole conversation.

He is also hoping you lose all your characters.   Plus every other player who ever played CoH.   I only speak for myself though so when I address the topic it is concerning my characters...which he hopes are not coming back.

When you hope all the characters are gone that includes me.   If I wish something negative on a large group of people it will be personal to each one of them.  I don't get a pass because I was hoping something negative would happen to a large group.

I guess if you didn't take any of the other powers, chances are your teammates have low HP and you're getting an endurance discount from Vigilance often, but still.

Actually, when he played Vigilance didn't exist. His intent was to play a blaster but the blast set he wanted wasn't available for blasters. So now you know.

It only effects you as a byproduct of his hope.  He is not specifically singling you out, nor is his desire to specifically deny you your characters.  You're making an impersonal statement, personal.  For no reason other than to complain about it.  Nor does he state the only acceptable outcome is to start with a clean slate.  I read his posts as "Hey, it might benefit the game to start everyone off with a clean slate.  In fact, it might even be cool as people would play the lower level content."  Not "Screw all of you and your characters!  You get nothing!"

My thoughts are less low hp and more just flat out being dead and having to be rezed all the time.  I teamed with such players and generally everything rided exclusively on the tank, a single ambush was all it took to wipe such teams, even-level enemies even had an easy time wiping such groups.  Alpha strikes were nothing to really kid around with every strategy I came up with was accounting for that and extra mobs, and there were hundreds of those.  Funny thing was the holy trinity was the only tactic that couldn't deal with a changing situation(like a greek phalanx couldn't).

It doesn't take too much effort to cap defense on a team. This whole thing came about from a debate of should you tell someone they are doing it "wrong" or should you say nothing? As we see here just from some of the discussions here some folks would take serious offense if someone were to say "you goofed up your emp defender" while others would say "as a friend, I would expect my friend to tell me when I am messing up".

I'm actually not going to stop taking it personally when people hope I don't get my characters back.  Sorry.   :P

This idea that because a person does not realize they are hoping for something negative for me that excuses them is not logical.  It becomes personal to me the instant it effects me.

I see no harm in clarifying exactly what he is hoping for and how that would harm me.  It is a very selfish hope.   And he is not the only one.
