Net neutrality has nothing to do with content, it's about throttling bandwidth utilization based on the source of the traffic. In any event, no net neutrality laws have actually been passed in the US.

You may be thinking of common carrier status, but that only indemnifies the ISP against legal action for things such as copyright infringement. There's nothing that says they can't censor content if they're privately held, and some ISPs do. A few even market it to parents as "child-friendly" internet access. That only applies to actual carriers, though, and not websites.

TL;DR: Facebook can delete whatever they please, but Facebook is simply too big to even care unless there's a major outcry over something.

I Think we need to calm down a Little and take a step back. There is perhaps a Little too much speculation and it is causing a little chaos. Minds get confused.
If I look back some 50 pages the see was more calm and peaceful.

I Think it is for the better if we do not drift out too much in our discussion.

There is a business deal going on and times are sensitive. Thanks to Ironwolf we get a few updates now and then.

I just Think we should restrain ourself from wild speculations.

As Codewalker said, that wouldn't help.  At least now there IS a legitimate channel for information!  With no place to go, the speculation will really go bonkers!

I'm not threatening anyone. But I know what rabid fans are like, and I know what the Internet is like. The Internet is like herding cats. It is not controllable. This site is very calm and cooperative.

I don't recall threatening NC over anything. I do not have that kind of power. I just know how people ARE, and so do you. That's being realistic.

This whole thing is NC going about things the wrong way. They seem to be saying: "We wish to be known as kind, caring denizens of the Gaming World, bringing good things to people and enjoying a sterling reputation."

The way to achieve that is by doing kind, caring things. Doing good things. Making people happy. THEN we see: "I like that bunch! I trust them! I want to do business with them, I trust them with my online creations! What a fantastic bunch of people!! THEY RULE, I will be a customer forever!"

That is how "good PR" is truly achieved.

I understand that. My post was a an attempt to defuse the very behavior you are describing. If PEOPLE (faceless FB posters I guess) rain/threaten/whatever NCSoft it could kill the whole deal and bring about exactly what we don't want.

I agree entirely. There's no point getting too excited now even when we may be one or two steps away from getting the game back. I don't know if many of you are Formula 1 fans, but at the Canadian Grand Prix in 1991, Nigel Mansell famously allowed his engine to stall while waving to the crowd on the last lap of the race while he had a massive lead. So lets wait for now until we pass the chequered flag/know the game's defiantly been sold.

Hey, whoever on here dropped me a message via my website's Contact Page about a problem with downloading one of my CoH vids, I have fixed the error, AND revamped the whole page to make finding videos a bit easier. (And uploaded a whole bunch more!) :D

If you guys find any other links that don't work correctly, drop me a PM here and I will re-update the page, but I *THINK* I got them all fixed now.

At this point it's far too late for that. Better to keep most of it centralized in one place where the actual legitimate discussion can be somewhat controlled. If it were removed, the wild rumors and misinformation would be just as rampant all over facebook and other sites, and there would be nothing to contradict them.

I was thinking that too, besides the out of control part seems to be Facebook, which is out in the public, deleting this thread or stopping stuff here wouldn't have any affect on Facebook, would be better to see if the owners of those facebook groups really were CoX fans and politely explain the situation and see if they might (knows nothing of facebook) freeze the groups or something til the deal could be settled, simply a thought.

I often wonder if the reason we do this is because we secretly (or maybe not so secretly) want a place where we can cut loose and be rude, selfish bastards without consequence.

"We're anonymous (not actually) and we can say what we want because of the constitution and if you object then you're a tyrant and a prude and probably dress funny and want the terrorists to win!"

If the sale gets scuttled because of internet cottage cheese for brains not bothering to find out what's going on before opening their blowholes then maybe that consequence will be something they will notice. I will spend all the time I'm not getting to play CoH at their door until I get banned in every single FB group for harshing their "I wanna be an Ahole" buzz. Dumb Child whose Parents weren't married or whose father refuses to acknowledges them after birth! (Sigh. Bastards is just so much easier to say and has all the right connotations!)

I like "ingot". Y'know, a shaped little bar of copper or gold or whatever. I'd like to see more things be called ingots.
