What was your favorite toon/powerset?

Charged Mastermind

Wanted to see if there was a bit more diversity in characters. What was your favorite toon? What was your favorite powerset? What do you think was the most interesting powersets you have seen? Go ahead and leave your ideas down below.

Personally I loved my Pistols/Devices Blaster. Played him all the time and I almost got him his first Ultimate IO until the game shut down.

I also loved my Robotics/Pain Dom MM. Took a while to get him over to a Vigilante, but it was worth it. Managed to get him more IO's and the robots were awesome, and Pain Dom was very useful as a solo MM and a team player.

Blackout

Whilst he wasn't my main my favourite was Hoar Frost, the second character I ever created. He was a four foot tall blue armoured Ice melee, Invulnerability tanker who had an absolutely awful build....he was awesome...but he was also awful.  ;D

Von Krieger

Infernal Infested, my SS/Fire Brute. Murdered crowds, murdered single hard targets, and SOLOED giant monsters Kraken, Adamastor, and Ghost of Scrapyard.

MaidMercury

I tried controller, but never got the hang of it.
I eventually loved being a Healer, an empath.
Good way to gain invites, too.

TriNitroToluene

My first love, electric/electric blaster.

I loved the visuals of the powersets and the unique playstyle of draining then slugging and blasting blapper style.

I fully intend to re-roll that toon if the game should return.

Favorite was this:

Brawling Humiliator.

He was a Brawl/WP Brute, started as a Hero, went Vigilante to visit the Rogue Isles.  Got him to 50, went full Villain to get one badge, "Army of Me", and then went full circle back to Vigilante.

Oh, and yes, this... he only used Brawl.  Ever.  Street sweeping, solo, no teams, no missions, no contacts.  Just him and the mobs.   With the exception of Jurassik, who I wanted that badge for and needed a little help in damage, and going Vigilante, where I had to do the missions.  But for those, I turned off XP gains, and intentionally gave away the inf, so excepting the badge or status, BH gained nothing towards the goal of 50 by 'the rules'.  He just wanted to visit the isles is all.

It took 6 months of punching things in the face... *bap...bap...bap* but he eventually got that 50, went Incarnate, and had an alpha slot.  That's when he then went Villain just to get that badge, because he was, in my eyes, an Army of just him. :)

Mobs of 20 +4s weren't a problem, depending on the makeup.  He'd get to you, eventually, just stick around, bad guy.

Pylons and AVs were an issue, if only that it was a standoff at best.  EBs?  No problem.  They all went down before BH.  I admit the Chimera +3 EB was interesting, but he too went down. Only took me about an hour and a half.

Yep.  Bestest character I made.  Very Zen.

Allondro

I loved the plant controller power set. It seemed the most balanced for me. Lots of holds, and lots of attacks.

Eoraptor

I loved all the dual wield powers... but my favouritest toon ever was Ferretina, The Ferret Girl. She was dual-claws/willpower stalker (blueside) Basically I could roll up on a group of foes, assasain strike the leader, freeze a few others, and just start chaining attacks together to defubb and slaughter everyone in sight like a low-aggro tank. Then move on, fade into the background, lather rinse repeat.

Apex Viper

I had 2 absolute favorites...

1) Apex Viper--tank--Invul/Energy (once slotted the end drain was a beast.)
2) Apex Redemption--defender--Empathy/Energy (I was an awesome healer.)

In the end, we all are heroes, even the Villains; fighting to save a city that we all love.

primeknight

Prime Knight: Mind/Kin/Psi Controller, incarnated fully to issue 21 levels.  Every power on him was awesome and useful from Levitate to Mass Confusion to Fulcrum Shift to Pool Powers Hover and Fly to the Incarnate Powers Ion and Barrier.  I even loved Psi Tornado, even after they nerfed it's power output. Also, Indomitable Will was one of my favorites as well.

Every power he had was awesome.

I loved my claws/sr/bm scrapper, triform peacebringer, zombie/dark MM and bots/ff MM.  The last think I was leveling was a Willpower/Kinetic Tank which was a blast too.

Wow! ... just ... Wow!! ... I have patience, often a lot when it comes to doggedly slogging through things ... this though ... I wouldn't be able to pull off ... /e gives_you_his_hat   Impressive. Thanks for sharing that as I've always wondered how far one could get with something like that.

Favorite toon:  Inv/SS tank with a toss-up for 2nd with either Emp/Rad fender or Storm/Ice troller
Favorite powerset:  Storm/Ice with prolly Water as a close 2nd
Most interesting powerset:  Plant/NA - never got to try that out tho  :(

AdhesiveMedicalStrips

My favorite toon was a BS/WP scrapper named SynerFlex. She was my main in practically everything but I Still played as my other 50s as well. I put almost all my time in her though. Had over 600 badges, every power was practically slotted with an IO. I made her into a mini tank.  I had all the incarnates on her at least tier 3 with tier 4 judgement. I did every task force on her, and had every accolade that gave you a power or bonus. All in all I gave her everything I wanted on a character. I even brought her to RV sometimes.

Didn't you solo one of the giant monster Nemeses during the Nemesis Invasion event?

My fave was my namesake, who was a nice and simple invulnerability/super strength tank.  The catch being that she was designed to look like a kid (spurred on by friends cheering "Everyone stand behind the little girl!").  Unfortunately, I thought the Victorian dress made her bust too noticeable, so she ended up being aged 12.  I was planning on having her celebrate her 13th birthday with a costume contest... on December 21th.  That's right, NCSoft ruined her birthday party.  >:(

Waffles

Either my Warshade (For having buttloads of psuedo-necromancy fun)

My Plant/fire permadom (For causing mass carnage and being able to ignore the target cap through fields of death that nothing was able to walk through without melting)

or my Illusion/Rad controller (For soloing all the things, and screwing around with confusion.)

chuckv3

Energy/Energy blaster for pure risk. I'm sure she got all the debt and damage badges. BLAP ON!

Warshade for having enough tools in the toolbox to adapt to any situation.

Waffles

Forgot my crab spider.

Spiders with Frickin' laser beams.

Hehe, yeah, he was pretty cool in that I could just target, follow and wait while I was talkin' on PinnBadges, then target again, follow again, and keep doing it until I had to run to the next mob. :)

Very low management, only build up and hasten had to be punched besides the target/follow.  And an occasional jump.  Made it way easy to chat.  And it was sorta relaxing and amusing at the same time.

Also a great teaching tool, for instead of 'MASH EVERYTHING' to win, I had to really think about the targets.  Who was first?  What was the strategy?

For Chimera in that mission I had taken, he was tough.  Not kidding 1.5 hours to beat him down.  He kept re-upping himself from EB to EB+1 and then up to EB+3.  o.0   (level 50 btw.)

I found myself wondering what I'd gotten into, and would this be the final defeat for BH?  I had no heal posse.  I'd beaten everything else in that mission, so it was me vs him.

I kept prodding... watching... and then... it presented itself.  It would be long, and difficult, but I could do it.  Run in, punch, run away.  Run in, punch, run away.  Keep distance to keep him from getting out his sword, keep him shooting the arrows, but don't run too far off so he runs 'home', for it makes it harder to do the dance.  The clearing is easier.

Run in, punch, run away.  Repeat.  A LOT.

And 40 minutes of that.. I win. :)

One of the greatest things I ever did in the game, for me, IMO, besides just running BH in the first place:  Beat a EB+3 Chimera with only brawl.  Heck.  Yeah. :D

DocHornet

My favorite character was my first -- my main and my namesake: Doc Hornet, just a plain vanilla energy/energy blaster.

A very close second was my human form-only Peacebringer Kheld.

Neither was my strongest character or even best built, but both of them made me feel like a superhero when I played them, Knocking back minions to kingdom come as if I were starring in a Sal Buscema=drawn comic, beam-zapping and glowy hand-punching. That's what I'm talkin' about, Willis.

And aside from adding the Invention Recipe Insect wings (no brainer!), Doc Hornet's costume stayed the same since his initial creation in 2004.

Missed this, sorry!

No.  I soloed like 4 or 5 of 'em, IIRC. :)

BH, if he had a heal posse, was unstoppable by any Nemesis anything.  Period.  Nemesis was his punching bag, the entire lot, so a few FNs at GM level?  They. Go. Down.

At least, that's how I fondly remember it. :D

/I was tryin' to find the 'witness' post in the old forums, but the Wayback machine leaves a lot to be desired...
