I know the story that you're talking about with Jack. It was back in beta and they weren't bad mouthing him. They were griefing him.  He was on a non dev character teaming with people who were side kicking him up.  This was back when suddenly dropping your sidekick and watch them go from level 29 down to level 5 in the middle of a fight was still a thing.  So while they were pointing and laughing at teh noob. He logged in his dev character, despawned the mobs in the zone then spawned a giant monster on top of them.  He later told them which he was and this was where "Statesman's Pal" supposedly first originated from

;D

Although I never encountered the "kick the noob sk and watch him die" (didn't sk that often), I did encounter a guy who was inviting people for mission teams just so he could TP them into mobs or TP them somewhere high and watch them splat.

I ignored a few people and sometimes spammers as well but I knew they'd be gone in a few minutes.  I would clear out the ignore list every so often.

I permanently ignored only one person, he would sit in AP recruiting newbies for his SG as they logged in.

I laughed at those who complained/bragged about full ignore lists.  Did they ever realize that many on their list they might never hear from again, especially spammers?

Thought. What if during these talks, NC Soft decides to keep the game, realizing they can still make money off it. Then they throw a counter proposal to the group. Bringing them on to continue it. Taking over for Paragon Studios in a sense. Was this brought up yet?
I have mentioned it as a possibility a few times.

It is certainly something when the spam is so bad it becomes a challenge to click on their name to ignore them.

Huh... I don't think I ever had to put anyone on ignore other than spammers. And I don't recall that many spammers.
(not like frigging Neverwinter right now. Sheesh.)

Spamming was bad there for a while on Guardian. Couldn't go five minutes without someone offering to sell you inf or power level you for real money.

Most of those on my list were people whom I did not want to team with again, for whatever reason.... so, if they were recruiting for a TF or whatever, I would never see the announcement and get sucked in. Also; a few obnoxious people on the forums foolish enough to let everyone know what their global was. Spammers stayed on a day or two, until their accounts got canceled.

I had one dude on ignore... He had some sort of attachment issues or something, because he regailed us with his life story through tells the moment any of our core SG members came on line.  I mean he'd send us excerpts from emails with the fiancée he'd been corresponding with from some other country to determine if she really loved him... Yeah, more than once the woman would drop off the face of the earth with the money he sent her.

He refused to take any hints that maybe he shouldn't talk about it with random dudes he met in a videogame.

It was weird.

I usually had a list of one-starred people when I disliked someone enough.  Usually if they were generally really bad players that demanded others be a dedicated healer or something that also died all the time cause they didn't know how to keep themselves alive.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Why not do both? Just head on over to Virtue. :)

Most of the "date sim" problems happened on Infinity or Champion.

The only time I gave those personal ratings was when people were actively rude, dramatic or griefing, then I'd leave a personal note to avoid them in the future... Except I so rarely checked the notes for people, who knows if it did any good or not.

It was a title.  A couple guys in beta sported it, the aforementioned griefers.  Earned by being punked by Statesman :)

It also became a badge, apparently: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Statesman%27s_Pal I never knew the history behind it.
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

Had a crazy Australian girl on Freedom that sought out online/RL relationships with at least 3 other people I knew of, besides me. We were all in the same channels, and knew each other.  I never took the bait, she was 20 years younger than I. When I'd log in, she'd be there, not wanting to play the game, but talk about her other relationships, and how those guys were bad people. Needless to say, I spent a long time in hide, until I put her on ignore. I'd have to say, that those were my most uncomfortable moments in the game. To this day I still cringe.
I am an ass, but don't we all love a good ass!

I was talking about the respec trials. Never did play one after they were reworked. Too afraid of the nightmare they had been.  ;D
This should be something the community should help you with.   I remember early in the game feeling a lot of frustration over that one until this awesome Tanker offered to help me and my brothers get through it.   Can't remember feeling that much joy over an accomplishment.   :)

Once the game comes back (yeah I said "once"), make a thread and I'll bet you'll get a load of volunteers to help.

Harpospoke

Those "star ratings" were kinda cool.   I usually gave out high ratings for various people I PuG'ed with who were really good.   Was cool to be doing something in the game and see my "stars" go by.   Gave out a few "1" to people who complained a lot or quit in the middle of a TF or something.

Quick question:

Just looked in my CoH folder and saw the text file with all the ratings...kinda cool to read.    Is the name on those folders the global handle for that account?  I had three...each had its own folder.   I ask because I'm not sure what my global names were!   Not something I thought about much.

I never ignored anyone - in-game or on the official forums.
GG doesn't even ignore me, and I'm a known troll.
