The 80's began when I was 14

Oh good. I always love when another gamer makes me feel less like the old man in the room.  ;D When I chat with a group of gamers online and find out I'm the only one that's not a teenager, I feel like everyone's looking at me like I'm a creep.

Greyfairer

Lots of peeps on here as old as I.  Perhaps that is why I found the COH community to be so amazing.  Lots of people devoid of the hormone-raging and adolescent immaturity that is exacerbated by having anonymous aliases.  The teens that were playing got to see a lot of good role models, if you will, on how to function in a group, and it blended nearly perfectly.
Yes, when I was 14 I was playing a lot of Atari 2600.

I hadn't seen those, but sourcing the piece isn't what's stopping me. Wife's minivan engine blew, so that's where all my spare money is going at the moment. :D
I wouldn't use the word "replace," but there's no word for "take over for you and make everything better almost immediately," so we just say "replace."

MWRuger

Sorry to hear that. But these are so old now that in six months I doubt the availability will change much.

Hope things get better for your family!

Form feet and legs!  Form arms and torso!  And I'll form...the head!

Always preferred the lions to the vehicles.....

I know I'm in the minority, I always preferred the vehicles to the lions.  There was just more actual plot development in the Vehicles series.  I particularly liked that the primary antagonist eventually became a freedom fighter against his own superiors.  And there were absolutely zero "space mice."

It is kind of weird that they took two completely unrelated shows with extremely different tones and tried to make them "fit" in the same universe.

... anyway, I'm getting WAY off topic.

Are we there yet?

Well, there was a habit of doing that when bringing "japanimation" ( What it was called before "anime" ) to the States. Robotech was 3 different shows shoehorned into one storyline.

CheerGunbunny

I realize this is blackest heresy to most anime fans....But I honestly preferred Robotech to Macross.

I just started playing Diablo 3 for the first time a couple of days ago.  I like it alot and there are some things that remind me of City of Heroes.  For example, the instanced dungeon and caves where you slowly uncover the map as you go along.  Also, I picked a Monk character and he is level 25.  With his playstyle and powers it reminds me of my Scrapper in City of heroes :)  Is there anything in Diable 3 that reminds you of City of Heroes?

Yeah, I think it's one of the reasons I like playing a Wizard and a Monk/Barbarian... The Wizard feels like my Elec/Elec Blaster felt like, and the my Monk feels like my MA scrapper felt like. I also like to dabble with the Witch Doctor as well, because there's a bit of a Mastermind feel there--it's not extremely similar, but there's still this feeling of "I'll let my army do the dirty work for me" that I got from my Masterminds...haha

Robotech was awesome and I too love it more. Wish harmony gold had not canceled sentinels but it looks like a live action movie based on the first robotech war is being produced

Okay. I'll play too.

When I was 14 Jimmy Carter was elected, and KISS's "Destroyer" album came out. I thought it was cool, but then I grew up and developed musical taste. Now I hate KISS.
That's where you went wrong.  Growing up is highly overrated.   I grew up just enough to pay my bills and stopped there.  I now feel right at home sitting in a theater at midnight to watch the latest comic book movie premier or jumping around with a guitar acting like an idiot.

And KISS is still cool and fun to me.    ;D  (Detroit Rock City....great song)

Heroette

Yes, I am responsible (car, house payments, etc.) but I still get dressed up for Comic or Anime conventions.  I don't care how old the numbers say I am.  I am going to have fun anyway.

I like old KISS just fine. Sign of the Eldar was where the wheels started getting wobbly for me. It was odd to me to move to prog rock when by then it was already starting to dim. Oh well.

Life is only what we choose to make it.
Let's just take it!
Let us be free.
We can find the glory we all dream of.
And with our love, we can win.

Still, we must fight or face defeat.
We must stand tall and not retreat.
With our strength we'll find the might.
There's no fight we can't fight together!
All together...
We can win!

Blessed with strong hearts that beat as one,
Watch us soar.
And with love that conquers all
We'll win this battle, this last battle.
We will win.
We must win.
We will win.
We can win.
We can win.

As the battle goes on we feel stronger.
How much longer
Must this go on?
Each and every day we dream of winning
and beginning a new life.

Still, we must fight or face defeat.
We must stand tall and not retreat.
With our strength we'll find the might.

I loved Robotech as well, but for me it was as an adult.

The only one that really improved in the original Japanese was Genesis Climber Mospeada. That one really worked better apart, but Macross and Southern Cross didn't suffer as much.

Hmmm. This is making me think I need to dig out my DvDs and watch them again. Great stuff!

Sorry folks nothing new gamewise - but that is good in its own way :)

Thanks for the further update! I hope we're not pushing too hard for "news"--at this point, I personally feel that any news we'd hear right now would not be good. If they're still in talks, we'll hear nothing until the lengthy process is complete. If the talks break down in disaster, we'll know right away. Silence = golden, for now. :)

Too bad you were not closer. I have rebuilt a few motors in my day.

I'd be right there with ya, if it were a 30 year old Chevy rather than a ten year old Kia. It's more wires than engine under the hood, and this thing somehow has four cams. It was hard not to shout "What foul wizardry is this!?" when the service guy told me that tidbit. (The problem is actually in one head, but the labor involved in removing the head, rebuilding it, re-installing it, and setting the timing makes just swapping in a "newer" used engine about a grand cheaper.)

Also, I'm staying away from the whole Robotech/Macross debate! I enjoy both, as well as the original 80s Transformers cartoon. I also have no preference between Kirk or Picard, but Sisko was a bad@$$! :)

KISS....every time I hear one of their songs I piss myself and forget who I am for a 1/2 hour or so  :o  Average musicians....great businessmen and brand.  I would rather listen to ABBA on a loop track   Oh yea, I remember Jimmy Carter and my father yelling at the TV in a rage on election night (I was 9 and Dad liked Ford)...no wonder I hate politics!!!
