The movie version of Kitty wasn't alive in the 70s though. Plus you know they have to give Jackman a larger part in the story.

Because Wolverine/HJ is the Iron Man/RDJ of the Marvel/Fox movie franchise.

In curious about when exactly these films take place. They show Wolverine with some grey hair, so that should be a number of years in the future, but no one else looks to be much older.

Good old Hugh. He made that Wolverine role his. Who would of thought he'd go from singing Oklahoma on Broadway to being one of the biggest stars in Marvel films and or recognized as The Wolverine. Man, who ever follows have a tall order when in a decade they start doing the reboots.

I like his shoulderpads, but that's about it. Don't we have any vaguely native american looking wrestlers who could've played the role?
Now that I think about it, they should bring Tyler Mane back for Sabretooth... oh, and Ray Park for Toad. 8)
