Pretty much as the topic says: what are some odd things that remind you of City of in odd ways.

For me, I've been replaying Bioshock: Infinite lately, and it's made me think of Nemesis a lot, I can't help but think though that Fake Nemesis bosses would be/have been kickass if they got a makeover that made them like Nemesis versions of Motorized Patriots. (Warning: because it's BS:I, the second link contains racist remarks) But seriously, just imagine going through a mission with Nemesis, clearing out the regular soldiers and the screen starts shaking out out comes a motorized Nemesis with a giant Gatling gun (possibly with some electromagnetic dynamos to let him keep his forcefields), shouting Nemesis-ified versions of the quotes in the second link.

I've been playing through Mass Effect 3 and the Cerberus combat engineers strongly remind me of Malta operation engineers; they are paramilitary commandos that deploy automated turrets in the middle of battle.

SentaiRed

When I played Dungeon Defenders, the SFX for building constructs reminded me of that temp power from Croatoa that did massive damage vs. fey. I forget what it was called, but it was that runic handblast thingy.

Night-Hawk07

Recently, while running through the Nightmare lands on Voss I was instantly reminded of new Dark Astoria. You'd think Perez Park, but I guess the ambiance, the monsters, and the way the trees were tangled up looked more like Mot's tentacles.

Mott's Clamato has always made my stomach turn just to look at it, and when Mot moved in to Dark Astoria the two forever became entwined in my mind. I always envisioned the red war walls as being regular war walls coated in this nasty gunk.

Yep. Tomato juice flavored with clam broth. It's a thing. :-\

yeah that stuff been around for a while. I know a lot of people that use it to make Bloody Mary drinks.

And a few use it as an old "hangover cure".

and I have to wonder who in their right mind thought that mixing clam juice and tomato juice was a good idea...

Right...hangover cure... that explains it.
As long as somebody keeps making up stories for it, the City isn't gone.

And there you have it, folks.

Every time I see some sort of plaque, my first inclination is to click on it...

The DS version of Spiderman unlimited has the CoV menu song, though that's not weird. The beginning of the Incredibles when Mr. Incredible meets up with frozone especially makes me think of city, but the movie as a whole does.

Also the name Mot is everywhere. I hear it in shows and games all the time. . . and wikipedia shows why http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mot_%28Semitic_god%29
I am the gun that rains judgement. I am the chill in the spine of evil doers. I am the flame that burns with justice. I am the teal angel that rises from death! I! AM! KAIT0!

Sitting down at the games machine. I know, cheap answer, but really; the little notebook I wrote IO shopping lists in is still there, the City of Heroes icon's still on the desktop, the labels above the function keys to remind me what type of inspo each one fires off in my custom keymap... Computers should be seen and not heard, but I'm sometimes tempted to have it play the leitmotif for the Gish at login time.

There are certain parts of my hometown (Tacoma, WA) that remind me so much of CoH. The streets, the buildings...even the blue dumpsters!
Listen to the 'mustn'ts'. Listen to the 'don'ts'. Listen to the 'shouldn'ts', the 'impossibles', the 'won'ts'. Listen to the 'you'll never haves', then listen close to me... Anything can happen . Anything can be.

We live in Ireland.  The Fir Bolg and Tuatha Dé Danann are all part of Ireland's mythological history.  I'm constantly reminded of Croatoa.  In the Irish language, 'Fir' is the word for 'Men' so needless to say anytime we see 'Fir' on a men's restroom door, we are all reminded.

Also, every time we drive by an electrical substation, the whole family is on the lookout for Clockwork.
If I was a Jedi, there's a 100% chance that I'd use The Force inappropriately.

It's not odd because most of the time it's actually from CoH

Sound effects... Particularly when I watch the Justice League/JLU animated series (and a number of the animated movies- makes me wonder if those sounds were chosen on purpose?) though I hear them other places in media as well.

A lot of stock audio sounds weren't exclusive to CoH. Explosions (those are particularly common) electronic beeps, mechanical whirring noises... they'll hit that perfect pitch and it'll remind me of CoH. They admitted many of the sound effects used in the game were stock audio sounds, and I guess I played the game long enough that I learned to associate them with 'our City' rather than just hear them as sounds.

For me they're kind of like the Wilhelm scream. Once you learn to listen for it, it's hard to miss (fun fact- Lucas loved it when filming Star Wars, apparently and I'm pretty sure it's in every movie episode at least once).

If you don't know what I'm talking about:

It's amazing how many times that sound effect has been used, and in what. Oh, another common one is the sound of a Dispersion Bubble being cast from the Force Field set.

Sometimes it's easier to find and implement stock audio for some things than trying to create the sound from scratch.

Yeah that Wilheim Scream might be one of the most used stock audio sounds out there in movies. I read up on it not long ago and interesting that it was in many movies that I didn't even realize it was in.

Nightwatch

Sitting in a hotel in some foreign country - as I am now - always reminds me of CoH.  CoH was a saviour for me as I travel so much for work and have so many hours/days/weeks to fill in waiting for planes or meetings or just walking not being able to sleep.

I've still found nothing to replace CoH in my life.  It's a sad thing.

When someone shouts "Kaaahhn!", I need to remind myself they're not talking about CoH.
