They need to do a little more work. They've defined the circle size as a function of "website traffic", yet it's measured by inter-site links. Links don't necessarily produce website traffic, so the entire map is misleading.

Case in point, who links to Google? How much traffic on Google on a daily basis is from people who followed a link there from another site? Most Google users either bookmark it or type in the URL, with a great many setting it as their homepage. Measuring links to Google is an inadequate way to measure the amount of traffic the site receives.

Each zoom level in the map increases or decreases the size by a factor of 2. If you zoom in one step, objects become twice as high and twice as wide. Given this observation, I measured by the pixel the relative sizes of google.com and cityofheroes.com as seen on the map, and my result is that google.com has 21825 times as much traffic as cityofheroes.com.

you'd be surprised of who links to google. On game forums alone, when someone ask about something and instead of answering the question, they say google it and put a google link there. Now imagine on many other forums people doing the same thing. Thus, Google link traffic.

And Google having about 21,825 times more traffic than cityofheroes.com is probably not too far off overall, worldwide internet wide.

Call it a hunch, but I have a suspicion that Google might get a smidge more than 21,825 times the traffic of City of Heroes's website.
