Uh oh, where did my CoH install and my Sentinel backups go?

If you're worried about the torrent, don't be. I was one of the original seeders. In fact I think I may have been the first one. Most likely 80-90% of that torrent came from MY hard drive (I remember having to stay with it about 18+ hours to get it all uploaded.) And I was clean when I uploaded it with no NCSoft crap launcher on my machine.

Hey hey!

Irritated by NCSoft's draconian nerviness, my daughter and I have actually developed a "workaround" to needing NCSoft's ill-working, problematic launcher to fire up its games in Win7 64.  I still had Aion in there, so we began with that.  Through a little bit of trial and error in ye faithful Notepad, we added this nice little bat into the bin64 folder of Aion's x86 folder, made a shortcut to it on the desktop, and can now launch Aion straightaway.

Type into your Administrator-opened Notepad the following and then save it into the folder I previously listed (if anyone knows anyone who may ever need it for Aion, because of the poor functionality of NCSoft's horrid launcher, of course):

start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Aion\bin64\Aion.bin" -ip:64.25.35.103 -port:2106 -cc:1 -noauthgg -charnamemenu -f2p -webshopevent:1 -loginex -pwd16 -nosatab -fmd -64

I may work on Lineage 2 next, even though I don't even play it, just as a public service.   >:(

I just checked the Mac NCLauncher again (a program that was created solely for CoH, because they have no other Mac games that use it, and no other games are listed in it).  Still looks like it's working, to the extent that it looks like it'll even let me re-install the Live, Test, and Beta clients.  (I don't have the HD space to actually re-install them, though)

The Fifth Horseman

Fairly sure it won't, cause the servers - including patch servers - are down.
We were heroes. We were villains. At the end of the world we all fought as one. It's what we did that defines us.
The end occurred pretty much as we predicted: all servers redlining until midnight... and then no servers to go around.

Somewhere beyond time and space, if you look hard you might find a flash of silver trailing crimson: a lone lost Spartan on his way home.

Hello,

I'm trying to work on the Icon.exe issue to begin playing around with the character creator again..... however

I can't seem to find any CoH folder on my comp. The only signs of CoH are the NC Launcher installed (still), CoH icon, Beta icon, Test server icon.  I have no idea where my City of Heroes folder is or should be.  Do I even have one?!

UPDATE: Problem Solved Thanks.

Also, some versions of Windows tend to "clean up the desktop" without warning.
Yeah mine does this with a prompt ever so often. . The computer call it unused icons/links, at least mine do. And of course I click on to see what it's tryign to delete and sometimes it's actual files (tested this on something I wouldnt miss.) And it cleaned it up off my computer forever. Every now and then, COH files come up (Accidentally clicked ok once and there went my screenshot folder dating back to i5.) :(

And last week COH files came up for deletion again for being unused.

It might have been some setting I did in the past. probably a bit under the influence, as the last changes to those setting do coincide when I was fiddling around and deleting old stuff.

And there have been cases I have misplaced some files. Or files that I moved out of their original spot get moved back every so often if I roll back my computer in those "Oh crap!" moments.

It should be in your Program files under NCSoft

HELP!
Right click your shortcut and go to properties. It will tell you the installation path in the "Target:" line.

Just to be on the safe side, I hadn't touched anything until today as far as CoH was concerned, including the NCSoft stuff.

After reading this uninstalled my NCSoft launcher. Gave me prompts to delete/change my 'associated games' and said no... multiple times. I wasn't too concerned as I have backups that exist outside my primary hard drive. Despite that, I can still log into Icon and no problems. Everything seems to be there.

All the same, until someone 'in the know' says otherwise, I'd recommend not touching anything. Did the OP try to uninstall the launcher? It seemed more than willing to want to remove anything associated with it in the prompts.

I guess I can't say 100% what happened back in November, but my sentinel backups are on the flash drive.  Okay, NC, I will somehow give you the benefit of the doubt that somehow I only backed them up directly there without realizing it.

I'm just glad I still have them, although I would just level again from scratch anyway.  So nervy though, the whole thing.

And is the download the entire game, or should I reinstall all my boxed disks first, up through Going Rogue?  I think that's the last disk available, or at least it's the final one I have.
Did you store your sentinel files in the same folder as the game?
