My first impression was 'what the...' but it caught my attention in a positive way. This has moved ahead of the new Star trek on my might see list.

Growing up, I liked Superman but he was always chopped liver to Batman--this movie might make a true blue Supes fan out of me! Seriously, the chills and jitters I get when watching the 2nd and 3rd trailer are really pumping me up for this!

So far everything I've seen from this movie appears to be 100% what I want from a Superman movie.

The only complaints the I've seen so far is that it looks too serious and somber. For me I see a serious, poignant, stoic Superman which is exactly how I see him. Yeah I grew up Christopher Reeves Superman movies, but as an adult I've always wanted a less "goofy" Superman movie.

I think they're setting up an EXCELLENT springboard for Justice League here, can't wait.

I see that they've embraced the whole "Superman as Christ" analogy.  Why else do you make him a fisherman at one point in his life?

Jesus Christ was a carpenter by trade.  I'm sure he went fishing at times, but it was not his "profession" according to scripture.  Of course, he was called a "fisher of men".

Back on topic:  Man of Steel looks like it is going to be an amazing movie.  Haven't been this excited about a film since Iron Man (see avatar :D).

Superman also shares a lot in common with Hercules. So he's sort of always had the 'son of a god' thing going on. Just pull the classic sci-fi switcheroo of, "hey, what if what we thought were gods were actually advanced aliens?"
