If you'd allow, I'd like to subtitle it in french.

Sure I suppose.  Doesn't hurt to cater to another audience. :)

Ugh, I had tears in my eyes! I don't watch many CoH videos for that very reason. The part that really got me was talking about the players fighting back. Being part of #SaveCoH, the rally, and everything that came after it was so rewarding. Thank you for making that wonderful video and sharing it with us all.

It's awesome to see just how quickly this is spreading.  I went to bed this morning and it only had like 86 views, 18 likes, and 10 comments.  Now it's 307 views, 56 likes, and 17 comments.  Thanks everyone for sharing it :) I'm glad you all liked it.

Could you please verify two things:
-First, can you import this file (right click, save as) in youtube as subtitle, and
-Second, are the first two minutes a correct transcript of your video :-)

Gotta go to sleep now, will finish transcription or begin translation tomorrow after House, M.D.
Yeeessss....

Now I'm all sad again though.

I finally got my feedback from my professor on it.  I got 250 points out of a possible 250.  A perfect grade!  ;D

We'll be watching everyone's projects in class on Monday and I'll be getting more feedback from my classmates there but my professor sure seems to like it.

Here's what he said in his comments on it:
QuoteYou did a good job of editing the material together to tell an interesting story. I learned a lot about the "City of Heroes" from its inception to the final cutoff of the servers as well as its impact on its players and what they are now trying to do. Even though it is over 7 minutes long, the pacing moves along at a good clip, because the storyline is interesting. A nice, slick production with the only issues being copyrighted graphics and music, but those things aren't an issue for an in-house class project—only if you want to use the material in a broader scope.

On top of all this the video hit more than 1000 views and 100 likes within a week of me uploading it to YouTube.  It grew faster than any other video I've ever posted to YouTube.  Thank you everyone for the phenomenal support.  I couldn't have imagined the amount of positive feedback I've gotten from it.

Congrats and well deserved Risko. I thoroughly enjoyed it and passed it along to other players as well.

I think it would've gotten a much bigger response still if there was some way to get it in front of more CoH alumni. A big challenge with anything here on the Titan that I'm seeing is that only a fraction of the community is here. There is (at least one) facebook group, another large group on DA, several dedicated websites, and many of the other MMO's out there have forum sections devoted to CoH veterans... there's just no convenient way to get a message to everyone at once.

That song "City of Heroes"?  Nice.

And this was a fantastic video.  Well done!

Yeah the song is called City of Heroes by David Allen Baker.  Not only does it fit our fair city in name, it also fits in the overall lyrics of the song.  It may as well have been written specially for the game/community.  I first heard it on the Cape Radio in the months leading up to the shutdown and I knew as soon as I decided on making this documentary I had to fit it in somehow.

If you'd like to hear the song in its entirety, the only place on YouTube I know to find it is this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Fh1mac5Jg8

You can also find it on his website, davidallenbaker.com and it's free.

Not a plug, btw, just sayin'. :)

Well okay then. :P Thanks for the tip.  It's been a while since I got the song so can't remember if I got it from his website or from YouTube.

 8)  Your documentary class project http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGcFC197rfQ was excellent!  (As you can see, I only just now found this thread.)  I hope you got an equally good grade for your project.  Regardless, thank you for doing the community and City of Heroes proud with your video.  Keepin' the faith and hope alive.   :)

Nice video.  Now I'm depressed again.  This game was the first MMO I ever played, and in many ways it is like your first love.  You will never find anything like it.  My anger at NCSoft burns with the fury of a thousand suns.  They took the one game that was unique and special away.  I will never forgive them.
