I am so, damn tired about MMOs now.

Waffles

I don't want to spend 15 hours leveling.

I don't want to grind for gear that is obsolete the minute a new expansion comes out.

I don't care about a level cap increase.

I don't care about PVP

I don't care about amazing realistic graphics.

I don't give a flying crap about spells and swords.

I don't care about these generic "Stealth, ranged dps, healer, that other class that heals, the hybrid class ect"

I don't care about gear. The whole concept is stupid. Gloves won't make you hit harder.

I hate having to look like every other generic fool.

I hate the fact i need four guys to kill a guy with a gold star next to his name.

Cast bars are stupid.

City of Heroes needs to return before i just give up on gaming for awhile.

Illusionss

It is pretty crappy out there, and I can sympathize.

I am actually not really playing ANY MMOs right now. I am playing single-player games at the moment.

I find myself ultra-annoyed by armors being level-bound, and armors being tied to stats. CoX's freeform system which completely divorced appearance from stats was greater than I ever realized.

True, Celestial pieces were level 50-bound - but that I could live with. Its EVERYTHING being level-bound that really sinks my battleship.

I have never felt bad about being spoiled rotten, till now. We are all spoiled from playing CoH........nothing out there is the same.
Listen to the 'mustn'ts'. Listen to the 'don'ts'. Listen to the 'shouldn'ts', the 'impossibles', the 'won'ts'. Listen to the 'you'll never haves', then listen close to me... Anything can happen . Anything can be.

Lothic

I'm also not seriously playing any other MMOs right now for pretty much the same reasons. *shrugs*

I've tried other games in the last few years (like CO, STO and LotRO) but CoH was really the only MMO so far that "hooked" me enough to want to play it on a regular basis.  I keep looking at other games and I am vaguely interested in some new games coming soon like Neverwinter and/or Defiance. But somehow I doubt they'll hook me either because they all seem to lack some of the elements that made CoH interesting to me as a complete game.

I'm guessing I may just have to wait until the folks working to relaunch CoH manage to get something going. :)

Played DCUO for possibly the last time today - Getting rapidly disenchanted, what with the cash-centric game updates. Now they regularly spam you with popup reminders to spend cash for a better gaming experience - no joke.

I was browsing around SOE's DC Universe Online careers page...One of the requirements for their game designer positions, "Experience with monetizing free to play systems".

Yeah, free to play? right..

On top of that, their PVP system is completely out of whack.

The very moment I set foot into the world, I found a crowd of max level enemies just camping at the respawn point, relentlessly spamming area attacks. You can't get away, you can't return to the safehouse, hell you can't even bring up the menu to contact support - when you're knocked out, it freezes all input until a timer counts down and you can respawn - but you can't return to the safehouse because you're being attacked again. The only option you have is to logout, if you're fast enough to keep the menu up.

One last thing.... The last major server update? Advertising new seasonal events where you can spend more cash for rewards - and now they introduced a cheesy 'Outline' graphic option, to show the outline of the enemy in front of you so you can see them during those split-second explosion effects. Wow.  :P
"Frank! It's the love boat to Cuba! Shuffle board and pineapples filled with rum. Know what they do? They put little paper umbrellas sticking out the top so that when it rains, it don't thin out the liquor."

Klendarin

I've messed around with a couple games these last few months and I am really tired of having to pick stuff up off the ground after every battle...

I wouldn't mind a SWToR-style minion in CoH that would go sell my training enhancement drops for me, though.  :)

I was seriously considering picking up single-player Dead Space 1, and working my way through the trilogy since this is a really popular and highly-spoken-of game, plus it looks really fun on YouTube - all three games do.

Come to find out EA forces you to put malware on your computer in order to "avoid piracy" or whatever, and that this stuff [SecuRom] is almost impossible to get off your hard-drive short of wiping your machine. It also interferes with Windows Vista, I am given to understand.

Read some snippet of an interview somewheres - I dont remember where - where EA admits that one reason they did this is so they can data-mine every last thing you do online, and that one of the main things they plan on mining is, of course, how long you play - because eventually they plan on rolling out a pay-per-minute-of-play scheme. PER MINUTE. You heard me.

Seriously, to the gaming industry AS A WHOLE: F*** ALL Y'ALL.

Dang. Those "tin foil" hat people were right after all.

I feel like they're doing anything they want, just because they can - "they" being the entire gaming industry. We'll monitor everything you do, we will fee you to death and BEYOND, we'll take your s*** anytime we feel like it and you with no recourse, and if you dont like it you can go watch a Seinfeld rerun.

Its like we're dealing with the Mafia or something. Do what we say or else. NCSoft sure makes a good hitman, come to think of it. *POW* our game was dead.

I am just increasingly annoyed with these jack@sses that think they can do whatever they want to the customer base, and get away with it. p.s. I have so far declined to pick up Dead Space re this issue.

Yup.

About that time to do something about it and demand and or create change? Meaning no giving money to those with unsavory acts like in the past. No more rewarding bad behavior.

The reason why Mafia was so successful because they were set up to run like a corporation which in turn corporations started to set up to run like the mafia until in the end, Mafia/Corporation= same thing. Just that one is remembered in black and white films shooting Tommy guns and the other is ran by "Upstanding" citizens and leaders when in reality, their methods are really not so different in reality.

While idealy we as a gamers should have nipped that type of behavior in the bud, but that is far gone. Now it's a monster that just gotten too big to be ignored anymore. Although gamers have the power, some like the product too much to worry about how they are treated. Many dont give a crap as long as they can log into their game and play. But we are still by no means powerless. That is what the game makers want us to think. Because once we start believing that, then they dont even have to do anything and just watch us moan groan defeat ourselves and give them more money.

That is why again, I think it's imperative that this community built game works. We can show the industry how a game should be ran and hopefully show them it can be ran with some semblence of respect for the the customer and still be successful. Might take a decade to make even a blip on the big dogs radar but why dont people just leave their game and show them they wont take it. Because people want that form of entertainment but really where can they go ? Each one is ran by a corporation that is on various levels of not giving a crap. This is the chance to change that and give the gaming community a choice or choices. They dont have to deal with those type of corporations or dotn play games. They will be able to play games and not have to deal with those corporation.

It's a like a drug dealer and druggie. I seen some beat the dog snot out of their druggie for no reason at all. Just because they can. Yet the druggie comes back because they have no other options to get the product they want to buy. But if someone came along with same product but treat him respect, they dont have to get a beating everytime they want to buy. They can get treated like a human and still get what they want. But until they have a choice they will feel they have no choice but to take a beating every day to buy the drug they want or risk the unpleasant experience of going without which would be good for them and save their dignity, and would be ideal, humans dont always do the ideal thing. durggie, gamer, small business owner being shaken down by the mob, voters, etc.

I know just how you feel. I don't even remember how many games I've tried since CoH shut down and none of them has gotten my interest. I have one game on my gaming 'puter that I thought would kind of fill the space CoH had but it soon bored me and now I may turn it on and play for half an hour to an hour every two or three weeks. No marathon play time with any of these MMOs that are out here now.

I am looking to join that Tibetan Buddhist monastery where they understand that playing City of Heroes for me leads to satori. ;) And, yes, I am only 83% joking since gaming DID help me develop personal ethics, develop teamwork, collaborative story telling, etc.

I'm not going to argue against  that statement; however, i found your signature line inspirational in that i had not thought about Oingo Boingo's "Dead Man's Party" for many years.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iypUpv9xelg
