Current Conspiracy Theories in Paragon

Steelclaw

So, my theory of how things ended in Paragon is that the Well of Furies just decided to up and leave one day, taking its magical waters elsewhere... perhaps to Detroit.  However, I'm sure that in the City of Paragon itself the citizens have come up with their own theories about why all the powers vanished and the heroes disappeared...

* The Well of the Furies was entrusted to Azuria

* All the heroes and villains had purchased the new Fusionette Brand G.P.S.

* They all left to fill the recent power vacuum in Praetoria

* The Meta-Powers Union weekly all-in Powerball pool finally came in

* Someone finally pointed out to them that protecting/threatening civilians who were completely immune to all manner of attack was slightly ridiculous

* Once Statesman died the Well found Primal Earth to be "filled with just too many memories..."

* Hamidon fell off the diet wagon again

* Nemesis Plot Hole

* "I just know it was because all the Heroes and Villains unionized!  It's a walk out I tell ya!  You don't believe me?  Then why were all those capes waving protest signs around on the steps of City Hall in the weeks leading up to the disappearance, huh?"

* Mass exodus following the Pinnacle Server's announcement of their outlaw expansion: City of Free Beer

And the winner is:

"Mass exodus following the Pinnacle Server's announcement of their outlaw expansion: City of Free Beer"!
"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace. We've got work to do!" - The Doctor

Yeah that would be total disaster. She cant even keep up with books. Half of the CoT missions wouldnt exist if it wasnt for her losing stuff.

My big theory was the government got uncomfortable with so many supers in one place, and the fact that heroes "breed" villains b/c they sort of have the cause/effect relationship. So with an uneasy government, and a re-surge of the Rikti, who were dealing great damage, the government forced the city to be closed and abandon to the Rikti quarantining the place. All heroes and villains were forced out and into the populace, having to conceal their true identities and power. Paragon became a wasteland and a massive Area 51 style cover up. The heroes and villains still live, just in exile.

Colette

Tiffy, Ally and Maggie d'Erinyes (aka Tisiphone, Alecto and Magaera) filed a Cease and Desist, and sued the Well and the Talons for Infringement and Defamation. The Furies are not the forgiving sort.

Once the furies recruited the furries, things was just over.  'nuff said.

Aka, The Incredibles?

On liberty a mini-Rularuu spawned....

My belief, he was freed from the shard, and simply absorbed the universe.

To be fair, Azuria's only real mistake was following MAGI procedures and turning recovered artifacts over to Gregor Richardson for storage in the MAGI vault. She probably would have done better simply putting all recovered artifacts in her desk drawer.
You'll notice that Azuria stopped needing help from new heroes recovering artifacts after Galaxy City was destroyed and Gregor was no longer in charge of the vault.

My own conspiracy theory looks remarkably like the event that was staged on the beta server shortly before the shutdown.
So far so good. Onward and upward!

* Nemesis Plot Hole

/em tinfoilhat

My completely crazy believable theory is that CoH and Paragon Studios were never actually shut down at all, it's all just a Nemesis plot to make us think everything was shut down so that Nemesis can carry out other plots that lead to more plots that are in fact just covering up another plot within a sub-plot about a main plot.

Ow  I need some Panadol after reading that.  Nemesis always makes my head hurt.

Nah, it was my fault... I had a stone /stone tank that could handle GMs, but was easily pushed around by citizens walking by.  The Well saw that and said ""That ain't SUPER"

Quote from: Steelclaw on February 16, 2013, 09:46:56 AM* The Well of the Furies was entrusted to Azuria

Whenever I did the Wheel of Destruction arc, I would always say in local chat "I'd like to put these under 'Will Call' for the Banished Pantheon, please' when I dropped stuff off with Azuria; it was interesting to see the reactions of other players who happened to be in the room at the time.

Rotten Luck

The Government secretly set up Power Nulifiers (like the one in the AE) around Paragon and the Rouge islands and activated them on November 30th!
One way or another... Heroes will fly again!

Is it possible that the Terra Volta reactor did finally melt down???

Ugh, possible.  We need to find the team that ran that mission and draw & quarter them!
