All right, a couple of more things missing from the Paragon Wiki, things that are critical given that the closure date might be September 30 (just 8 days from NOW!), and not November 30 (in two more months):
-The Shining Stars section needs to be added. I know it can be "ripped off your hard drive", but I and probably others don't know how to do that, but WE NEED TO RECORD THIS in case NCSoft doesn't!
-Second, and more important because it includes graphical content,

The 6th and 7th chapters of the Who Will Die? story arc are missing (the souvenir clues are there, but nothing else is) The contacts in question are Specialist Greer (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Specialist_Greer), Protector Z-958 (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Protector_Z-958), and Infernia (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Infernia) This is a very important part of CoH history, because chapter 6 includes the death of Sister Psyche.
In addition, more screenshots would be very nice: Statesman, who dies in chapter 5, has a series of screenshots showing his death scene. Sister Psyche's death scene, as well as Alexis Cole's death scene, are utterly without any kind of pictures. If we're going to respect our fallen heroes, shouldn't they at least get death scenes? :'(
The sequel arc, Pandora's Box, is also missing content. Contacts without missions and/or dialogues include Lastri Kayumanis (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lastri_Kayumanis), Antonio Nash (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Antonio_Nash), Lieutenant Harriman (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lieutenant_Harriman) (Just parts of the mission briefing of parts four and five), Flashfire (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Flashfire), and Socrates (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Socrates).
Let's get this info while we still can!

This (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Shining_Stars)? Granted, the powers aren't listed, but I think Guy Perfect could do that in about a minute or so (and will still be able to grab that info even if he can't access the servers.) He's just tied up with other efforts in the #SaveCOH campaign at the moment. Given the ability to obtain this info without accessing the servers, I wouldn't put too high a priority on this.

That one I'll give you. Normally I'd have probably grabbed this by now, but 6 months of mandatory OT is taking its toll on my ability to document things right now.
That being said, it's worth noting that even if other people only copy and paste all of the raw text from the missions (at least briefings, debriefings, notable NPC names, any NPC dialogue, clues, etc.), formatting all of it is the easy part for those of us who have been doing this for a while.
In addition, more screenshots would be very nice: Statesman, who dies in chapter 5, has a series of screenshots showing his death scene. I'm pretty sure I took several screenshots of both (same as I did for Statesman), but I forgot to upload them. I'll see if I can find some time this weekend (after I get home from work) to get those uploaded.
The sequel arc, Pandora's Box, is also missing content.
This too is true. I haven't even had a chance to play through each of them on both sides, yet.
-
Quite a few Alignment/Morality missions are still missing. The ones from Issue 18 have been documented to some extent on the official forum (spread over several threads, but they can be found by searching for the tips already known).

Also, the later arcs at the bottom of Twinshot's page (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Twinshot).

Great - I'm glad you have these. Put them up when you have time - what I'm doing here is trying to make sure we have as much of CoH archived as we can before the servers go down (because there will be a delay between our NC's servers going down and somebody else's coming up, even if Plan A succeeds as we all hope).
This too is true. I haven't even had a chance to play through each of [the Pandora's Box signature arcs] on both sides, yet.
OK, this is critical, then. Somebody needs to do this, and that somebody can't be me, because my characters are too low-level.

Yes, let's get these, too!
Thank you! :)
p.s. How can we rip dialogue, text, etc. off our drives?
-
p.s. How can we rip dialogue, text, etc. off our drives?
At one time, if you could match Pstrings to the contacts, you could get some of it from the clientmessages file in the PIGGs. Much of that text, however, was moved from client to server within (I think) the last year, so you can't anymore.
What you can do, however, is highlight the text in the game, copy, and paste it into a text document to later copy/paste all of it into the wiki, or just paste it directly into the wiki from the game.
-
Hmm. Nope. I have a bunch of screenshots from those arcs, but not one of them shows the death of Ms Liberty or Sister Psyche. I do have one from May last year when Freitag appeared in Atlas Park as the Jade Spider, though...
-
Can we get those? Do you (or anybody else) have characters of appropriate level who can complete the arcs?
EDIT: I put this in the Save Paragon City page because it's apparent that we won't be able to keep CoH running (there will at the very least be a hiatus while the transfer between companies happens). So, I'm trying to ensure that we archive all that we can.
-
given that the closure date might be September 30 (just 8 days from NOW!), and not November 30 (in two more months):
I haven't seen this information anywhere else and could not confirm this with anyone in-game today. Where did this shortened deadline date coming from? It got me to archieve all my characters tonight, but I'd like to know how worried I should be.
-
I have 38 characters on my main account. 26 of them have access to those arcs (on either side.)
I just need to find time to run through them - like a week when I'm not working 65 hours.
I haven't seen this information anywhere else and could not confirm this with anyone in-game today. Where did this shortened deadline date coming from? It got me to archieve all my characters tonight, but I'd like to know how worried I should be.
Yeah, I haven't seen that, either.
-

Quoted from State of the Titan post 23 (http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,5275.23.html):
One huge caution though: If NCSoft does get bought out, or heavily leveraged, it's highly possible City of Heroes will be shut down way earlier than the Nov 30th ending date - possibly as early as Sep 30th, since it's the end of the quarter. So if we're aiming for an operations licensing deal, we're running out of time.
-
If NCSoft does get bought out
NCsoft hasn't been bought out.
-
NCsoft hasn't been bought out.
*Wipes brow*
Well that's a relief - that means we still have two months, nominally, unless something else changes.
Can we redirect anyone to playing these arcs to do it? I mean, you can't be the only player on the forum with characters in the right level range.
-
I have several pages with missing info (mostly contacts with poorly documented arcs) noted - they key thing is getting time to run through them. If you see any arcs or pages with missing info, go run that content, take some pictures, and load it to your user page. That'll at least give people the chance to put it on the wiki even after the game servers go down.
-
I started on Specialist Greer (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Specialist_Greer) tonight. Only had time for the first mission, though. More when I get the time.
-
Great - the more we can get up, the more we can save!
-
Greer is all wrapped up.
-
Thanks - if I had another ten levels on my character, I might be able to help with some of the Pandora's Box arcs...
-
When Nov. 16 rolls around, I may find myself with a whole lot more free time to document whatever's left at that point. (That's both good and bad.)
-
Good and bad? I hope not too bad. :-\
By the way, I found another one: the Lord Recluse Task Force is missing some objectives.
Link here (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lord_Recluse_Strike_Force)
Also, has anybody noticed that States is dead here... and that Psyche is not? :)
-
Protector Z-958 (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Protector_Z-958) is now complete.
-
I'm working on Twinshot - have a character almost to 15 for her third arc on Beta (ran through the first two already).
-
Great - I'm trying to get my hero character up to do some of the Pandora's Box arcs. We'll see!
-
Four of Antonio Nash's missions (in 4 hours) completed. Need sleep for work in the morning, though, so will pick up where I'm leaving off later.
-
Great - cool - by the way, another thing I'm looking for and not finding. Do we have the title and loading screens archived anywhere? We have all of the music in the game, but I can't find the loading and title screens.
-
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Category:Loading_Screens
If anything is missing, it can be pulled from the client at any time, no server connection needed.
-
Great - didn't know they were still part of the client (I knew the most recent one was, but not all of the others). The wiki looks like it needs some reorganization for people looking for various media (I couldn't find the link). But that's something that can be done any time, so it's lower priority.
-
The wiki looks like it needs some reorganization for people looking for various media (I couldn't find the link).
If you were including Categories (which is what that page is) in searches, it should have come right up. Alternately, drilling down through categories (Media -> Graphics -> Loading Screens) would also have gotten you there.
-
Right - but there's no link on the main page that indicates that a categories network exists. Like I said, low priority - we should focus on the stuff that requires CoH up and running while we still can.
EDIT: Speaking of which, I notice that James Harvan (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/James_Harvan) also needs to be done.
I *wish* I had characters of appropriate level and alignment and could help out!
-
I'm going through and checking each SSA contact as time permits, so he's on my list.
-
Managed to finish Nash last night and go back through again to fill in the missing dialogue holes. (Play through is soooo much faster when I'm not documenting everything.)
-
I imagine it is, thank you!
I just wish there could be more people helping you do this - it's a rather daunting task!
-
Yeah. It's certainly that.
There's still so much Praetorian content and the last pieces of Night Ward that I want to play through before things go dark, too. But those are already documented.
-
Found something else we need to add: Paragon Journals (e.g. Dr. Aeon's description of Mission Architect (http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/news/paragon_journals/mission_architect.php)). It's linked off of the article for Architect Entertainment (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Architect_Entertainment), which means it needs to move to the wiki before the site goes down.
I could probably do this myself with some limited use of the wiki (although I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to editing the wiki). I'll try to see what I can learn how to do.
-
Found something else we need to add: Paragon Journals (e.g. Dr. Aeon's description of Mission Architect (http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/news/paragon_journals/mission_architect.php)).
All of these should have been archived as part of the effort that took place to capture the CoH website at archive.org (http://archive.org/details/archiveteam-city-of-heroes-www).
-
First pass on Flashfire mission #1 is complete. Will try to see if I can't finish the first pass tomorrow night.
-
Finished documenting Flashfire (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Flashfire) last night, but forgot to capture the Souvenir text. There might be some formatting tweaks to be made here and there, but I'm pretty sure I captured all of the other info. I'll grab the Souvenir text tomorrow.
Next on my list is James Harvan (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/James_Harvan). Then I'll go back through and hit the villain arcs.
Side note: Didn't we decide going forward that we were only going to place missions that were common to multiple contacts in the Mission namespace? It's been a while, so I couldn't remember, but I worked with the structure that was already in place. If this one's done right, then I'll eventually need to go back and move the missions for Nash over.
-
I also couldn't remember the specifics of our discussion, but I've been putting the beta missions in their own namespace nonetheless. It seems to help me keep them organized better that way.
-
Mission one of James Harvan (for heroes) is finished. More later in the week.
-
Here's the (daunting) list of all contacts added since Issue 21 so we can keep track of what is/still needs to be done. (There's plenty of content to check across all levels, so EA and I don't have to be the only people doing the updating. ;))
The following formatting indicates the level of work still needed to be done:
Contact - Done
Contact - Essentially done; missing text isn't necessarily significant
Contact - Mostly done; needs some final tweaks
Contact - Mostly done; needs some pics, branching dialogue filled in, or proper text formatting (this is the bulk of the work to be done)
Contact - Started, but needs one or more missions added
Contact - Not started; needs all content added

Don't know if you saw my message, but you'll need to do it on beta. The contact was never fully added to the live build, but it looks like it's working on beta.
-
Ah. Hadn't caught that message yet. Thanks.
-
Filled in some blanks on Vladimir Zolner. Could use some formatting in general (particularly moving some of the text out of NPC Text boxes and into Mission Briefing formats), but the important parts are taken care of. I also removed the (just under a year old) WIP note from the page.
I know there was mention of getting screenshots of the death of Miss Liberty, so I'll be doing a quick run-through of Fortunata Gossamer next session.
-
Do we also want to make some of the rest of the text visible by default rather than hidden by NPC text? I'm specifically thinking of captions and cutscenes. The difference could be compared between Vladimir Zolner (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Vladimir_Zolner) and Provost Marchand (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Provost_Marchand_(Primal_Earth)).
I think the original intent might have been to keep the articles neat and clean with as few chances for spoilers. However, I'm of the opinion that the articles should flow as closely to how the mission text actually appears with a minimum of work that has to be done if you simply want to read it. This includes using {{cutscene}}, making {{divbox}} captions match colors, and even removing the 'Caption' line if it's obvious who's speaking and it eliminates repeated clutter. Two drawbacks to this are that it can make the articles appear rainbow-like in spots and it increases the size of the page that's viewable at once, but it seems more easily-read to me.
-

I've already been doing all of that by default in the articles I've been adding. The only exception is that I've been putting non-cutscene captions in NPC Text boxes.
-
I have logchat running all the time on all my toons and RPC built a very robust filter program that can filter for anything. So on all the old chatlogs I can filter out everything but NPC, leaving just the NPC chat, which might be useful. There will also be Zone NPC chat as well. I'll start running the chatlogs through the filters after the 30th.
I finished the last half of blueside Nadia, fully logged, logchat for the NPCs and Captions and cut and paste all the mission boxes and the clickable NPC dialogue.
I finished the blueside Palatine, ditto.
Finished Noble Savage, ditto.
Is there any central repository for this stuff? If it's the Wiki, can I pass the files off to someone ELSE to input? Wikis hate me. I don't know what it is about them, but they hate me.
-

Yeah, Paragon Wiki's pretty much the central repository for this. If nothing else, I can pass you my email address and you can send the files to me. (I'm sure other wiki admins would be able to do so, too, but I don't like to volunteer on other people's behalf.)
-

That would be absolutely awesome if you could do that.
I can write books, or I can struggle through wikis, but I can't do both. :(
-
First pass on Lastri Kayumanis is complete. Need to go back and fill the remaining blanks in.
I also have the files that VV sent me, but haven't had a chance to do anything with them yet.
Another week of work before my extended free time kicks in. The first week will be kind of busy what with getting things sorted out Monday and Tuesday and visiting family for Thanksgiving Wednesday to Saturday. But I'm got nothing but CoH planned for the final week of the game.
Edit: I've now filled in all the holes I can on Lastri without running a female character through. Minor little detail that still needs to be filled in.
-
Lieutenant Harriman is now complete. Big thanks to Thirty7 and Taosin for the initial text grabs. :)
-
I am sooo thankful to all of you who are doing this! :)
-
I'll wade into Night Ward.
-
Started Socrates tonight. Managed to get through the first (three-parter) mission.
Have received the First Ward text for the last three of Nadia's arc, Noble Savage, Palatine, Katie Douglas, Blind Makwa, Cerulean, Master Midnight, and Vanessa DeVore from VV, but haven't had a chance to add them to the Wiki yet. (Might get to those while I'm visiting family for Thanksgiving next week if I haven't covered that prior.)
-
First pass on Socrates is now complete. I need to go back through and grab the rest of the dialogue options to finish.
-
Is the music from Ouroboros on the Wiki? I didn't see it, and I have no idea how to pull .ogg files from wherever they're pulled from.
-
Yep.
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Music#Co-op_.2F_Shared_Zones
-
Just sent you all of Number Six.
I'll wade through Pandora's Box Blue on Beta. Unfortunately my only 50 redsider is a corruptor who's set up as a team support, which makes her dubious for running the redside Who Will Die and Pandora.
-
Finished with getting the rest of the dialogue text for Socrates - well, mostly. Could still use a quick run through with a female character to see what the gender-based text is. (Probably "ma'am" instead of "sir", but not sure on that.)
Moving on to Harvan's arc for villains.
-
Finished with first pass on Harvan's villain arc. The fact that the last mission was identical to the hero mission made it much easier.
-
All the hero contacts are done.
I'll now switch my char to vigilante to grab that arc, and then run through villain contacts, most likely starting with Mr. G.
Fingers crossed that we can get everything done in the next nine days.
-
I've got all of the contacts prior to Issue 24 Beta either done or to a point that the stuff that's not there isn't that important.
I'm working through Mr. G now (first arc is done), but we'll need to have a male character run through it to get some of the gender-specific dialogue, especially from Dean MacArthur. (I don't have a male character high enough to do that content.) There's also some other branching dialogue and optional outcomes to fill in, primarily related to what heppens if you choose not to do certain objectives or talk to certain people.
I hope to have Mr. G's other two arcs done early enough that there will be time for other people to do these run-throughs.
As of this post, there are 162.5 hours left... :(
-
I've got all of the contacts prior to Issue 24 Beta either done or to a point that the stuff that's not there isn't that important.
Woohoo!
I'm going to be going through the text that VV's sent me so far to see if there are any little tidbits that might have been missed or alternate text based on a character's individual history today.

Okay, new guy here but trying to do my part. I noticed a lot of the morality stuff was missing, so I've been snagging as much of that as I can recently. I've got almost all the 20-29 Rogue and Villain alignment stuff from R.I, I'm still working on the 30-39 alignments of the same, and I've got the 20-29 and 30-39 Hero morality missions. I'm probably not the only one doing this, but better safe than sorry. I'll sort it all out in December (screenied and demo-ed, so it might take a while).

I hadn't touched any of the alignment/morality missions at all, and I'm not aware of anyone else who had, either, so I appreciate your work at it.

Ok, Mr. G's story arc are done with one pass on a female character. Another run should be done on a male character (which I don't have in that level range) to get other gender-specific dialogue from Dean MacArthur.
Some other things to capture/watch for are:
Criminals of War
Steal a Vanguard Helicopter
- Does Dean MacArthur say anything as a [Caption] if you didn't previously do his story arc?
- What happens if you choose to attack Commander Anders?
- What happens if you choose to kill the Vanguard Operative?
Attack Vanguard's Prison Base
- What happens with the IDF if you choose not to rescue Commander Gerard?
Arrange your first meeting
- Does the cutscene change if you didn't talk to Dean MacArthur before the previous mission?
The End of a Yin
Part One: Hostages
- Can Psimon Omega be properly contacted during this mission to offer any help?
Finale: Choosing the Inevitable
- How are dialogue and events different if you choose to hand over Mr. G instead of fighting the Vanguard?
-
I've just noticed that there's a lot of missing conversation options in Mr. G's missions: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Mr._G_%28Primal_Earth%29

Hence the post directly before yours. ;)
I've finished Sgt. Schorr now, so all of the major work is done on contacts since Issue 21. Woo!!

+1 for paying attention.
There doesn't seem to be a Zenith Hoverbot picture on the Council/Robots page.
Also, sorry if my making random "This is missing!" posts comes off poorly, but I don't have the time / ability right now to really play very much, so I'm just noting what I see as I glance at the wiki from time to time.

Can someone point me at something blueside that needs to be grabbed? I'm sorry for not trudging through the lists, but well, things have been weird for me, lately. I'll do better with some direction (and may not sleep much until after the servers go down).
-
Non-50 hero and vigilante tip missions need to be captured/fleshed out. Probably the easiest place to start.
-
2 more missions worked through, just in case...
Violent Cartoon, Moral Lessons
Fire in the Hole
Hope everyone enjoyed the final day :)

As much as I possibly could. :)

Well, to the extent it was possible to enjoy it. I am sorry I wasn't able to do more in the way of info gathering, but frankly, it was a bit too emotional for me.
Yes, I am a sap like that.
