Only 50+3s? I found the secret paths to get all the way up to +6.

First, you have to go to the moon. To do this you must stand on the Warburg rocket doing the teabag emote for 12 minutes, then pop 11 Present Inspirations and then throw 6 handfuls of rose petals.

That was the easy part to figure out ;)
Was that before or after you strip all of your enhancements for a luck inspiration?  ???

I believe we will, but minus our old accounts and characters.
Which is fine as that can be more of an opportunity rather then a burden.
Of course IF the sentinel files can do at least a partial restore then that is fine too, but we shall see.

I'm with Sinistar.

Thanks :)

Also I just found an old excel file with what I thought was my lost stone tanker build.
Build #3 was an L25 build for exemping down
Build #2 was a nicely defense capped L50 NON Granite build with about 80% run bonus to compensate for rooted.

Heh, people were always freaked out when they invited that toon to a team thinking that they had a granite tanker until they saw it wasn't on that build.  Then they got more freaked out about how well it worked without granite.

But when the chips were down or if it was a no defeat master badge that were were going for,  I'd shift to build #1, then use the lightning bolt emote to transform costume and then into granite.   Fun times.

Build #1  L50 fully IO'd defense/rez capped/incarnate Granite tank with  PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER :)

The top two quotes make me think that both NC and THeM are making sure it runs smoothly, as I don't think NC would have them buy a faulty game with their name on it.
Also, I too am not really sure when the game is to return, but I think it'll be after they can get all(or atleast, with little to no game impacting bugs) of CoH working before unveiling the return/finishing the sale..

I've long believed that a big part of the behind-the-scenes process is the team showing NCSoft that they have the capacity to get the game in a good state and to act as good caretakers.  For that reason, I doubt we would hear anything concrete until not only are the terms agreed upon, but that whatever work needs to be done to make the game playable is taken care of.  However, I think it's very difficult for anyone on the outside to know just what is involved and whether or not it will turn out to be doable.

That's true...I for one think they went in with at least a slight understanding of the undertaking needed to get CoH to run from outside sources such as the Paragon Dev team. I also believe the holding company they are wanting to bring on to maintain the Disk image would be involved more heavily in the effort to get the game functioning..of course this is all speculation :P

If it were me, I wouldn't make any major announcements until the sale was done AND all systems enabled.

Then I would announce the date where people can race to the website to register their new accounts and setup payments.  Followed by an announcement that a random assortment of players will be emailed to partake in a beta test of the servers/game.

Final relaunch date "Will be posted after all beta test data is received and evaluated"  also known as Soon!tm

Thanks.  I figure a week or two should be enough to beta test and work out most of the snags that can be worked out.  Also would be used to test things like the holiday events and invasions and anniversary badge rewards.

Yeah...my thing that I wonder is if it'll be possible to dull out inf like CoH devs did for the widow/bane testing( I believe it was about 500K inf to buy enhancements) on day 1(starting broke is gonna not be all too fun :P)

One would hope that all switches for giving out inf/exp and activating events would be in place with the image and tested before public beta.

Gotta have that private beta first :)

Also while archetype power tests would be welcome in such a beta, as the game is a ghost image of how it was before the shutdown, then the AT's should be functioning as before.

I'd be more looking at the servers, also features like the store, the market, can the events be toggled on/off, things like that.

As a reward to the beta testers, at the end of the beta I would let them keep their characters/names/inf/salvage and bases they built up, would likely revert the characters to level 1 for the actual go live.

Possibly as a further reward I would toss out bug hunter badge to the beta testers alts.  Possibly.  That badge I may just consider retiring until 1.5 revival then awarding it to those that find some glaring new bugs.

For Passport, I figure transfer an alt to another server and a 7 day countdown starts. Badge awarded at the end of 7 days. If you transfer prior to the 7 days, the counter resets.

I'm kinda looking forward to try playing from broke. Some market seeding would be nice though.

I believe City of Heroes (the IP and some version of the game) will be back someday.

Quite frankly, my belief is based on just how strong nostalgia is in society these days. If Jemm and the Holograms can get a movie, than anything can happen. :D

Even if the current effort succeeds, though, I don't think we'll get our accounts back.

Even if NCSoft themselves said, "Say ... you know we kinda made a mistake about shutting down City of Heroes. We're bringing it back" I think it would be too hard to prove account ownership after three years for such a vast majority of people that they'd just avoid the headache and start everyone over.

I don't know if I'd seed the market, but I can see offering some generous incentives in the rebuilt Paragon store......special offers on x-amount of xp/inf boosters.  Perhaps a temporary offer of when a character is made it starts at 1 million inf but I can see this being exploited rather badly.  Make an alt, email the influence to your global, delete/repeat......

Best thing for xp/inf aside from sales in the store is perhaps the first month of relaunch is DXP. :)

Also as an aid to all those that would want to get their SG base rebuilt as fast as possible, I think a special offer for the first 2 weeks of relaunch (maybe the first month) would be that when you register and activate your base you get say......20 million prestige (which auto awards any prestige earned badges) and a bonus base badge awarded......say......the FUSION GENERATOR badge?  Or else just 36 million prestige and you still need to go out and earn the Fusion Generator badge via pvp.

Either one of those incentive offers should put a smile on the face of many a base builder.

My point is this: though everyone should be happy the game would be back, there will be some that will want/feel entitled to SOMETHING to help speed up recreation of lost characters under the previous owners. Such feelings are inevitable.

Idk, i feel like inf/exp/prestige are easy enough to get with play. i suppose you could say the same about recipes given merits and converters though.

The starting with 1 million could be once per account. That plus leveling money would give enough to buy a raptor pack and enough SOs to get to 50 where you could then generate cash for alts.

I admit it's been a long time, but I want to say that even the basic IO recipes-- when sold to the stores-- would generate enough income to keep you in SOs. Besides, if anything like the ParagonMarket can be made, you would be able to buy one of the travel powers like a jetboard, magic carpet, or the animal transformations. I distinctly remember my second 50 had millions of influence by the time he hit his 40s ... and that was well before inventions and the auction house.

you are right in that the xp/inf/items are relatively easy to get, but some type of incentive/offer will likely be needed at relaunch.

Whether it is 1 million inf per account or 5000inf per character when rolled or else the first month is DXP, then after that is done just use the boosters for XP/inf/prestige.

My own objectives at relaunch aside from regaining as many character names as possible from my 5 accounts will be to get my main badge hunter and secondary hunters restarted.

Primary badge hunter: starts as hero proceeds to gain all blueside badges, once that is done, alignment shift to redside and secure all the redside only badges. Along the way of course, visit Praetoria and gain all the badges there.  After that, secure any needed Master badges from TF/SF/I-trials.  Then use Ouroborus to play all story arcs in game on both blue and red side.

Then would come my blue only badge hunter and red only badger, they never alignment shift, though they will gain all Praetorian badges and Master of badges, etc.

Then once that is done, my main PB/WS badge hunters.  Both would seek all blue/red/praetorian badges, etc.

Since nothing new could be added to the game until revival 1.5, no new badges can be added thus all badge hunter players can sit back, relax and grind out the badges knowing that until 1.5/Revival launch gets close they can relax and take their time.

rebuilding my base.....eh.  Not a major priority. With the trains and ferry boats open to all zones, plus dimension portals to Praetoria and Ouroborus, a base with teleporter units is pretty much unnecessary.  By the time the game was shut down, my base was converted to a warehouse for all my salvage and io's.

So how many of you actually believe you're going to get the game back?

I'm not saying we won't, just curious as to what you're all thinking. Lol  :P

That's actually a pretty good question.  I certainly hope it does however believe we'll have a spiritual successor instead.  I'd be willing to play the original game, no updates, no support, all new accounts, even owned and run on NCSoft servers.  Hell, they can even place the blame of the shutdown on the players for all I care.  I just want to roam the streets again blasting enemies.

I don't know if NCSoft actually has a mole here but if they do then I'd like to say, "Surely we can reach some happy medium between us former players and NCSoft.  What would be nice would be words from your company saying, 'We're not saying we will bring it back, but we will evaluate the possibility and to show our good faith, we invite a select few from your community to meet with us to discuss the possibility.  Please select one or two representatives who can speak on the community's behalf.'"
