I've just been SS'ing & flying around the City thanks to Paragon Chat & I got to Grendul's Gulch in the Hollows & the music brought back so many wonderful memories I stopped & logged out pining for the game more than I usually do. In fact everytime I log into Paragon Chat the same thing happens, I hear the music in Atlas, you know the one, the first you ever heard on your first toon as you made it out of Outbreak, all fresh wide eyed & ready to 'Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls' and my heart sinks! I go to Pocket D & listen to the euphoric music there, same with all the different tunes in Steel Canyon or IP or PI. I love what Paragon Chat gives me, I love I can see everything again, that I can SS or Fly and I think without the music I wouldn't react the same but as soon as I hear it everything comes flooding back, all the fantastic memories & it makes me feel sad & angry in equal measure.

I will carry on logging in to Paragon chat a few times a week, I'll still feel like $**t & I'll still miss the game & say to myself or one of my kids if they happen to walk by as I'm in there that it still looks amazing with Ultra settings, it still plays brilliantly & it would still offer so much to so many if they could just bring it back properly. But it feels like I'm punishing myself when I do. And I like it!!!

Sorry just had to share this, I've not posted much but lurk here every single day hoping for some good news & will do until we get the nod or the finger. I keep convincing myself & a few of my close friends who played CoH with me that I've found a CoH replacement, I play it for a short while trying to convince myself this is the one, but it's not, EVER. Nothing is like CoH, nothing ever will be & nothing will fill that void until it returns, I know that now.

Manc.

Yeah, I totally hear you there.  But it feels better to be there than nowhere in our City, and there's the lurking feeling that the Silent Hard Workers that have gotten us this far are not quite done...yet.   ;)  Call it a premonition.

Man, some behavioral psychiatrists could really cash in if they were to be studying all these posts and threads on this site and other sites and Facebook pages about CoH, the shutdown, and the ever hoped for return.  :)

Like I said in another thread..it's only a matter of time and meeting of the minds to get this done :)...once the two sides get a moment to work this out, I'm sure it will go quick(in a good way :>)

I have the same level of confidence in them to.  I shouldn't need to say it, I said it numerous times.

I'm moving (again) in a few days, heres to hoping that like one week after we'd moved I get an announcement.

Or even this week, but then again I'd been confident for a long time here that something would happen.  Even before the talks and new efforts, I was confident city of heroes couldn't remain down forever.  Of course I don't trust publishers to do well these days (fucking mobile games and facebook games, and AAA publishers only recognizing COD, Clash of Clans and some other casual game who's name I can't remember).  But know, success in these talks I am hopeful wouldn't mean a AAA developer taking the game and screwing it up.  I want the game back and I want the spiritual successors to succeed.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

I have said it before, in this thread, many times.

I just want to play this game again before I die. I'd be willing to almost anything to make that happen.

MWRUGER suddenly feels a tap on his shoulder, they turn and see a person dressed all in red with fire burning in their eyes and the smell of brimstone upon them.......the person smiles evilly and says "I have a little deal to offer you......"

It pisses me off just thinking about some of the posts and tweets I've seen since the shut down of fellow cox players that have passed away while waiting on this dream to become a reality. None that I've personally known so far but that's going to be a sad reminder to those personal lost when the game does return and you can't play with those people anymore.

Yeah.  Perhaps when the game does return and can be updated some type of memorial torch in one of the shadow shard zones?  Have a plaque that when clicked says "dedicated to the memory of fallen players" No need to list names as there would be many.

I like the idea, but it could be as simple as "This monument is dedicated to those who have fallen in the defense of Paragon City" without necessarily mentioning the real-life component, so long as we know that it really means those folks who never made it back.

Hm, that could work.  Newer players will of course ask, they can just be informed by other players as to the monument's meaning.

Also, should there be a badge for reading the plaque?

Okay, we need to make this a thing in CoH ASAP! I love it... but it also makes me sad too :(
then again, if it makes me sad (which it does), then I'll deal with it, because people who have died while waiting for CoH to come back deserve to be remembered.

I always thought of the shut down as akin to the Reality Bomb from Doctor Who. In some parallel universe, the Doctor is doing what he can to stop the Reality Bomb, and reverse the effects in the universes that are slightly (or not so slightly) ahead of his universe's time frame. Unfortunately, not all of the Heroes (or Villains) will be able to make a full recovery from the Reality Bomb's reversed effects.

In Dr Who terms I think of the shutdown as when Doc 7 used the Hand of Omega to blow up Planet Skaaro or when the War Doctor detonated The Moment to nuke Gallifrey and the Daleks at the end of the Time War.
