Forms. Can't forget about Dairugger XV.  ;D

Took me awhile to find all of that series.  Much better then how it was mutilated into Voltron.

Also be glad they aborted the idea of bringing in a THIRD Voltron.

Lots of people like to rag on Jack, but there's one thing we must ALL remember.

If there'd been no Jack, there'd have been no City of Heroes.

Thanks Jack! :)

True.

But now comes the question: how many of us would be pleased if it was Jack that brought CoH back?

Considering it would not be changed from what we last played, it wouldn't bother me at all.

I know it'd insult the CO fanboys and trolls who ruined that game for me.  But I wouldn't want him making it into an mmohtg due to cryptics brains generally having fallen out and tendency to listen to pvp trolls.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

I was actually hoping this very thing when it was announced that there were mysterious backers ready to finance the i23 rez.  I was more hoping it was PWE because (at the time) both Posi and Jack were there, and it would be a lot better than some total noob group doing it who were headed toward an eventual train wreck, lol.  At least PWE knows how to run MMORPGs (even though they're lockbox crazy).

But now, after seeing Posi and so many other devs let go from PWE, it can't be them.

If anyone would have a prayer of getting the game running again (other than a disk image) it would be Cryptic IMO. Who else has their experience with the Cryptic Engine now that Paragon Studios is defunct and their devs are scattered to the winds?

And honestly, my take on Jack is that he's an altist. His passion is bringing a game to life, not maintaining it. That's why Cryptic has made 3 games since they sold COX and is still working on making more.

I was curious to see where exactly we stand with the negotiations? Are we just laying low while Nexon and NCSoft duke it out? Or are we still receiving communication from NCSoft while the company is fighting for survival? OR is everything at a complete standstill while NCSofts future is uncertain?

Sigh.

Do you see updates in the OP? Do you see updates in the "no discussion announcement thread"? That's all we know. If we learn anything, we'll tell you. Seriously. Please stop asking. lol

@Aggelakis - Please do not sigh at me.. I just learned of all of this recently, there are over 800 pages in this topic.. I have back tracked 10 pages and have not seen an update. I read the first 25 pages to try and see where this was going. It was a simple question and I threw out multiple scenarios that I thought could have been going on.

But also, thank you for your response. I just figured out what the massive UPDATE meant on the opening page. Appreciated :)

I can defiantly agree with this. Sto is slowly going the crap highway, how can a company for 5 years build up the big bad and in Star Trek one of the biggest they make the Borg look meek. I am talking about the Iconians that game only got 2 soloable missions and a few group missions. The latest issue was a huge let down.

Its ... odd that S10 had so little story content, but it seems S10 was more of a infrastructure release than a full content release, i.e. things like the sector space revamp.  The actual Iconian story seems to be something they are going to release over time rather than in one big release - the first Iconian mission was the Sela one released before S10, not the two released in S10.

As to the Iconians themselves, I think the game does about as well as the source material.  The Borg were supposed to be the scariest thing in the galaxy, then they became a manageable threat like the flu, then not even the baddest of the bad with entities like Species 8472 and the Dominion.  Star Trek as a whole neuters villains incredibly and inexplicably fast.

Incidentally, yesterday for the first time ever I actually soloed an entire Borg instance.  Not sure at what point my main got that strong, but it was the first time no one else actually entered it and I had it all to myself to even find out.  Gotta love that Kobali cruiser.

Von Krieger

So I'm sad today. Defender of Texel, a mobile game I really liked and have been playing for a year and a half, has been announced for shut down on June 30. They'd gone to running events every other week at the start of the year, and hadn't had a new event since April.

Stop me if any of this sounds familiar. DeNA got acquired by another company, lay offs and cutting of lesser profitable game products occurred, leading to a game with a small but steady fanbase being cut off, with the intent of the playerbase being funneled into the company's other games.

I hope we get CoH back soon. I don't think I could handle finding a third game I really like and having it yanked away from me after sinking a lot of time and money into it. :(

The sticky at the top of the "Task Force Hail Mary" thread was created specifically so nobody would have to peruse, or even skim this huge thread for relevant information.  It summarizes where we currently are in the process, and promises to be updated the very microsecond anything of import happens.  If you see the post count on that thing go from 1 to 2, something REAL has occurred, and it is worthwhile to go in and take a look.

This thread is mainly musings on possibilities, some frustration over the time factor involved, occasional speculation and conspiracy theory on why it has not happened yet, and fond remembrances of the game we all love and hope to play again soon.
What was no more, is now reborn!

I try not to stalk the forum.  I look forward to the day you lock this thread, throw away the key and we sob quietly.

I do have to agree with the Borg on both accounts, however, I think that was before Star Trek Next Gen. did an episode with Iconian tech with the gateway. Also one could argue that that was before the episode with Yamato getting destroyed. 8472 I tend to think they did not get neutered just a cliff hanger, Voyager really did not follow up on what happened to them. For the Dominion is that the Gamma quad or Alpha quad. versions?
One day the Phoenix will rise again.
