Well, it's unlikely they would want to copy the old assets framework, it would still be rediculously low-polygon count by the standards of the new engine...

Agreed with the comparative polycount but that might need to be the cost of doing business with a CoH "1.5" transition.  If there is a way to import the old maps into UE4, clean up any edge-case glitches by hand, that would save so much time versus making all new maps, even if those maps were darn near copies of the old maps just smoothed out.  I know that my first impression of the Ouro map in UE4 was "that looks like they imported the original, not a UE4 remake".

Dunno about the legalities of such though.

The second thought that flipped through my head was a faint whiff of perhaps NCSoft becoming re-interested in their shelved property and perhaps pondering funding a new studio, but that's wild speculation that I shouldn't even be mentioning here.

Honestly I can't imagine many of us haven't thought of that. NC has to have seen the articles, and the positive response they've (the articles) received. But while the temptation might be there to back out of talks and just do it themselves, they have to know that it wouldn't fly with a huge chunk of the community. They have almost zero trust on that front and they know that. Their only real option (in my opinion) is to let go of the IP. The other option is to sit on it till everyone forgets, and we'll, that's not very profitable.

This comment obviously make a huge amount of assumptions. It's kind of my thing.

I want a lot of work to go into the ambient NPCs.
NPCs hanging out, getting lunch, playing basketball, tripping... I want the city to feel like PEOPLE live there.

You gonna add children & schools for the children?
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

It takes a village to raise a child. And it takes a villain to explain the value of lunch money.

Lmao. That would be hilarious to see, and it's tempting just based on that.

I can understand this, however this could bring in new buyers for tr and the car game. I do not think that these games are recoverable due to them being gone for so long. Remember when Wolf said the image of city of was in bad shape, imagine how bad the other 2 games are by now.

I doubt anything could/will ever happen with Tabula Rasa. Too many issues between NC and Richard Garriott. -shrugs-
As to their state...It depends on the conditions of the shut down. I didn't play Tabula Rasa or Auto Assault, so I don't know how their shut down went. Did the devs have sufficient warning to cleanly end things? How well were things documented? Does NCSoft even have everything from them still? (As people have pointed out, Storage is cheap. But that doesn't mean NCSoft would bother after this long.)

as I recall wasn't Richard in space when NCSoft released an alleged letter from him about the shutdown only for Richard to come back to Earth and call up his lawyers?

Great, I want Tabula and AA back.  Just putting that out there.

That is very true, I also doubt tr would come back unless someone put out a private server. I am not sure they throw away any documentation they could have put some of the info on a cd. I am not sure how tr was shutdown since I think it was not as watched as city of was.

It wouldn't surprise me. Maybe they were hoping he didn't come back haha. Didn't it cost him something like $20 million for that trip?

Perfect!

We can add people getting into and out of cabs and buses. And I would love to see heroic save opportunities of kids dashing into the street after balls or loose pets. Old ladies to help at crosswalks, cats to get out of trees, more fires to fight in all zones and, and, and. . . .

We're almost there!   ;D

Actually it would be funny to see a car hit another car in a intersection and the two people get into a fight while holding up traffic

It's little things like that...dynamic events especially that make a city really pop.

I, of course, read everything here. But if you think an idea is neat, I really encourage people to go post it on the APR site.

...Mainly so it doesn't get forgotten, or buried in the billion pages of this (or the Mask comes off) thread.
(and I'll totally forget.)
