Starting from scratch will be fun.

I purchased a few things but I really enjoyed the game more before you could purchase stuff.

I wont mind starting from scratch, but some of the things you enjoyed before ended up up costing newer players stuff (e.g. access to controller archtype).

Till we know a little bit more, it might be best not to assume how things will or won't be :)

lol, same... Especially since I know for a fact that I will never be able to achieve the same status I did before, due to starting a family. But....that aside, I'd just be glad to log in every once in a while.

My coding skills are relatively non existent in regards to a task like this, but if you ever need someone to do the annoying grunt work of making a bunch of nearly identical files that have to be just enough different or anything like that... please keep me in mind! Repetitive menial tasks are sort of my specialty.

lmao. I'll keep that in mind, Kistulot.

I should not have much of a problem I only had 8 level 50's from I2 and a bunch of half leveled toons. I will probably rush and get about three to five toons to 50 over a while if we get the game back but I am older and have older kids and I am very busy which is why my playing time varied from a lot of solo play and a lot of teaming it just varied by my schedule so it will be about the same as it was for the last what ever years I played.

Where were you when CoT had to manually set the Kickstarter backer status of people on our website? 8)

I would not say never. Kids grow up you know ;) It seems like just yesterday I was holding our newborn in my arms, and tomorrow is his first day of school.

I'll have all the time in the world when I retire, but the problem with that is that'll most likely be 20 or so years from now. I think I had around 23 or so lvl 50s (my Warshade had all three builds full of purples) and a few dozen alts around their 20s... I think it's pretty safe to assume I won't achieve that again (especially considering the plan is to move from CoH to CoH 1.5 and character saves aren't guaranteed at this point). Maybe "never" is a strong word, but in my case, I'm 99.9999999999999999015332% sure I won't get back to where I was.

Then again, who knows.... Perhaps I will get a job working for one of these teams and be able to put some CoH time in every day while I'm at work... :P

Since updates and character data will not be possible due to the details of the deal, I am curious how they will deal with player disappointment.

Will all content need to be repurchased? (Perhaps a bundle option)
Will all content be free, but subscription required?

You know what would be fun is, when the game reopened if the owners gave us like a week of quadruple xp, so everyone could get a few 50s up to speed so we can farm the first few Incarnate trials again. Wooot!  8)

I agree the loss of I24 and character data sucks massively, but I am still extremely stoked to be getting Paragon city back again!
Don't forget to read the entire sentence:

Speculation/
I think the User Database is due to legality concerns (don't quote me on that.). The code base, I believe is not completely independent to City of Heroes. They can't/won't sell source code that might be in other products.

I'm in the same camp as heatstroke and alienone.

It'll be nice to log in again and kudos to all the work the team put in to getting the game playable again.

The loss of several years of playtime is disappointing.  Currently I have a wife, a 2 month old, my not so young pup, 3 cats (one of which is a kitten), a sugar glider, some fish, and a job that I work a minimum of 50 hours a week.  I'm so busy I spend my lunch hour working out so I can stay in shape.  Usually my free time is spent with my family whom I neglect all week because I'm working so much.

So to the possible new owners:  if there's anything that could be done to assist old timers in getting some of the stuff we used to have I'd highly appreciate it.

This is all I'm going to say on the matter:  I'm sure they're under enough stress about this.

So good luck on the road ahead.  I've said my piece, if nothing else, I'll be just fine: I can let go of the past

Thank you again.

Does anyone know the specific reason that I24 is being left out? I'm not complaining about it not being included as much as curious about why it's not. Is there a chance they're holding it out for some reason and it might be available later? Nowhere remotely close to a deal-breaker for me, and neither are purchases or characters. When I bought the things I did, I received them and used them. That means I got what I paid for. If something is awesome enough to buy once a few years ago, it's awesome enough to buy again now. I get my CoH back. 'Nuff said. Any complaining outside of that is petty and pointless. Shhh your face and head to Atlas.

I've been playing EQ2 since CoH went down and frankly I think that the depth that I have had to go into running with three raid teams has taught me a lot and my new builds will be better than the old ones. I will miss the billions I had in the bank, but boo-hoo. That's why there's a market in Cap to gouge, err... sell you guys things from, and an AE to PL you for moneys. I'm just glad I found my handy-dandy notebook and I can put back together the awesomeness that was my base. Either way, I wish I could buy the folks working on this for us a cold beer and a shot at the casino and pay their cab fare home. I hope this goes as well as it sounds and I hope it gets results quickly, hearing that start-up/login sound again will make me dizzy. I can't WAIT to be level one and broke!!!!

Mongeese.
I can't think of anything clever to place here as I am currently over-caffeinated on very little sleep. All the cool people have a signature, so I will drop random text here trying to fit in.

I believe the biggest part is because Issue 24 was not ready for launch at the time of the shutdown. Since NCSoft is unwilling to part with the Source Code for the game, it means there would be no way to fix the bugs.

Ryo-

This post in the "And the mask comes off" thread might have some of the information you're looking for.

To sum, it doesn't sound like i24 is completely off the table, but it doesn't look like it's currently part of the negotiations.

EDIT: Also, what Irish_Girl said, and she's much more informed than I.
