Robert is correct. I did not know about Monday however, I am sorry I have been up at the hospital a lot this last 2 weeks.

My new grand daughter Avelina Eve is doing very well and she may be out of the incubator as early as tomorrow. She was born at 4lb 1 oz. She lost a little weight as new borns usually do and dropped to 3lbs 13oz. Now however she is up to 3lb 15oz and has been off the c-pap machine for a week.

I have been being human. New grand daughter born and a brother that on Tuesday just had a cancer removed (looks like they got it all) and so my world narrowed to just getting by each day. I deleted a couple of my own snarky posts because well you strike out at those you feel comfortable around. Things are moving forward. I know you are all excited as I am for what happens next.

I look forward to just being another guy on the boards and thank you all for mostly staying patient.

Ironwolf I am not a doctor, but I don't mind pretending to be one!  And as a doctor I demand that you take as much time as you need off and away from these forums to spend time with your family!  We aren't going anywhere!  And we will hear news when there is news to present.  Be sure to give 2 hugs a day to loved ones, and lots of laugh throughout the day.  Melting hearts from spending time with granddaughter is a common side effect.

My friends can go buy their own games.  And the best DRM is no DRM.  For instance, I own The Sims 3 and every Expansion Pack and Stuff Pack.  I purchased all of them on DVD from Amazon, not the DRM-restricted direct download versions.  If EA goes out of business tomorrow and vanishes from the face of the Earth, I'm still good and can play TS3 all I want (I've also taken the liberty of downloading a manual install copy of the last/latest cumulative super game patch).  If I had gone with the downloadable copies, no dice - they would control them, not me.  And I didn't drop $1,000 on TS3 for someone else to control them instead of me.

Point taken, never thought of what would happen to all the digital games I bought if a company would go bankrupt (Valve:Steam, EA:Orgins, UBsoft:UPlay, etc) Honestly that is a unknown I never thought about and was just conferable with the convenience of Steam. I do hope Valve will never go under, but nothing in life is certain except death

I am glad and thrilled about your brother and granddaughter!  I named my daughter Eve and even at 19 she's still a little spitfire;  your little Avelina Eve will be fine, I can just feel it.   ;D  And you don't ever need to apologize about anything.  I'm just glad Mister Michigan kept at it in a similar vein to Rae, Ammon and Mercedes (plus any others I have missed in the list).

Speaking of which, someone should tell Mercedes Lackey to tune in on Monday, too!

Oh, and hey, should we have a guessing game about who is bringing CoH back?  My money is on Missing Worlds Media and SCoRE joining forces to reverse-engineer that server backup NC supposedly still has (SCoRE), and then convert City of Titans to City of Heroes 2 (MWM).  CoT was recently converted to Unreal 4, CoH2 has been mentioned to possibly use Unreal 4, plus MWM clearly has the talent, and they clearly have the financial and fan backing via the kickstarter to show NCSoft that CoH players believe in them.  And what donator would complain if they got COH2 instead of CoT?

And as for my vote for the official name of COH2, if they need ideas....   City of Heroes:  Phoenix Rising.  After all, City of Titans was originally The Phoenix Project until they ran into copyright troubles.   8)

I'm still not trying to get my hopes TOO up, but things are looking good!  Wow, who could have believed it?  Didn't Eliot Lefebvre say something about having to throw a ticker tape parade if he was proved wrong and City of Heroes was revived?  Monday should be an interesting Labor Day to say the least....

I'd have to wonder if they had the funds beyond the kickstarter. Would repurposing those cause a problem?

Well then have .02 cents in you bank account, wait 1000 years frozen and reap the compound interest xD Fry pulled it off, but lost it all for the price of a slice of cheese pizza and a large drink :P

Those of us who fought for Sim City to be offline finally won, but....if you want to play it, you still have to play it through Origin, which (in my opinion) is like Steam's red-headed step-child that always misbehaves. Origin is basically were Steam was in its infancy--it's got a long way to go.
Yeah, I can't say that I'm thrilled with Origin, either.  And if I had to play TS3 always with Origin online, I'd have never gotten into it.

Pretty sure IW can't wait for Monday with the FB news. Seems like he's been spread a bit to thin with all he has going on in RL. Still, he wants to get the game back for Bean! Great grandfather!

Yeah, I imagine it would work with two-hundredths of a cent. (Sorry. I don't mean to be snide, but that bugs me. Years ago, a local store's videotape-rental sign said that the cost was ".50 Cents", which is actually a half of a cent, as opposed to 50 cents. They refused to believe me when I pointed it out. I'm also irritated by Dairy Queen's "$5 Buck Lunch", which actually reads "Five-dollar Buck Lunch". I'm not paying $5 for a buck lunch.)

I have no idea at all.  I'm just playing a guessing game at this point.  But if The Mystery Team was Valve or something, I doubt they would need a "technical expertise project" given to them by NCSoft to make sure they were up to the task.   ;)  But if it really is MWM, they deserve extra kudos for doing all of this on their own time, around their own jobs and lives, for no money at all and in the spirit of good will, period.  That's an amazing thing.  Never mind to come so far with NCSoft, and after so many before them have failed!

Math is hard xD. Also did the joke wrong too I just looked it up and it was 93 cents at 2.25% compound interest of 1000 years that turned out to be $4,283,508,499.71

Ironwulf, first, I just wanted to say how glad I am to hear your granddaughter and brother are doing so much better.  I hope they're both home soon.

Secondly,  please let me add my heartfelt thanks for all you've done to get the "Save CoH" ball rolling again, and to keep all of us in the loop as much as you could.  You've brought hope back to so many people, and I cannot thank you and the team working on this deal enough.

I'm very excited about Monday!

Well, I suppose that applies to Redside, but what about Blueside?  And really, I'm more Goldside, myself.  Do we count as sinners, or does that depend on which Morality Missions we take?  ;D

Like many here, I am both excited and cautiously optimistic. The hammer fell hard on all of us, and after all this time, the rational side of my mind says that the history since the closing - that we know of - would seem to indicate that all this speculation and hope will all be for naught. The other side of me, the emotional, giddy side, wants this to be true very, very badly.

Aside from that, it struck me as funny that we might hear of the return of City of Heroes on this coming Monday, the 1st of September--2 years and a day after we got the news of the impending closure. To take it further, wouldn't it be a kick if the announcement stated that the servers would go live on December the 1st--also 2 years and a day after the actual shutdown.

Disclaimer: of course I know nothing about anything, and nothing in this post is to taken as fact or even as rumor, please. :)

I would not think it would be repurposing if they purchased CoH with the intention of using those assets to build CoT.

I mentioned this to my local store's staff a while back, and they just shrugged their shoulders 'cause it's a corporate thing.
