Ding Ding Ding Ding...500

I really doubt anyone is going to go "Oh this is nonsense!  Everyone gets their characters back?!"  People are just saying if it does it happen it wouldn't be all bad because it would  a clean start point at least.  Deleteing your main characters if we get them back isn't "starting fresh" it is just deleting characters.  You can just make an alt and NOT delete the character.  But we have 0 choice in what happens and what we get.  Either way if the game comes back I am playing my main again.  Either through recreation or picking up where I left off.

EDIT:  Censor didn't pancake a word I used.  Figured I would keep it clean.

I'm just assuming we will start from scratch, so if we indeed have to, I won't be angry about it. Of course we'd all love to start with more!

I would like my toons back, but i want the game first

I don't think we get a vote on it. If they have the info, they will make a decision. If they don't then we will be starting fresh.

I foresee fun either way.

This may be why I didn't enjoy the sets that encouraged you to use attacks in a specific order to get bonuses.    Never thought of it before.

Whereas I loved them, because I was always trying to find efficient attack chains that I could wash, rinse, repeat. Having it baked into the powerset and getting bonuses for it was great. :)

No thanks.

I would rather everyone got their characters back.   I have zero problem with anyone who would want to delete all their characters and "start over on an even playing field" of course.  8)  It seems so much nicer to have the option to start either way so everyone can be happy. Well said.   I don't think some are thinking of implications of what it means to other players who do not wish a "clean slate" when they hope for such things.  (Maybe some do...the "I want everyone to play my way" types)  Some actually claim "it's about the journey, not the destination" as if they don't realize that is the way they liked to play...and that does not make it a law for everyone else.   Some of us liked the destination more.   Pausing at the login screen to decide what character I wanted to play from among a wide variety of choices was a nice comfortable warm feeling.   I do not relish the idea of only having the choice to start one new character from zero.

Some are certainly not giving much thought to the wish that everyone will lose their "loot".   The people who accumulated a lot of inf got that way for a reason which will not disappear with a clean slate.   They will be wealthy again in a short period of time.   A clean slate isn't really going to harm them that much.  Nor will it harm those who can acquire a lvl 50 in a couple of days.

People like me who got a lot of inf and lvl 50s through long hours through many years....not because I'm efficient...will feel that pain the most.   A clean slate pretty much means I'm 6 or 7 years away from getting back to where I was.  I will be looking for shortcuts this time though...so wishing for a clean slate is in essence just wishing for more pwlvling.   ;)

I get it, it's not the popular opinion, no real need to quote a random post from 25 page back with zero context to get your point across. Put your sword away Sir White Knight.

500 soonish

I'm set to 5 post, so it's more like 2k for me right now.

Sugoi

I had a strange dream last night... (probably as a result of the Inspirations / Drinks idea from yesterday.)

I dreamed one of my characters was flying around Talos Island, and landed in front of the Pocket D entrance. It was closed, but had a large poster on the wall that simply said:

"Under New Management - Reopening Soon!"

The sheer amount of hope I have that this project succeeds is getting to me....

I know the two methods for farming that caused this to occur the most common one was inv/ss tank but the common theme foot stomp so the tank would sit just out of range of damaging the portal as mobs came out the tauntaura would pull them in while footstomp was set on auto and it was kill the mobs while they watched tv or ate a ham sandwich. It was an endless free cycle of east xp.

The other one was groups did this oe before you would activate the portals and have 100's upon hundreds of underlings heard them up for easy xp . You may be able to find picks like you can the dumpster diving days of the freaks show it was on par with that.

The first one is the main reason it was nerfed
I understand the reason.

The risk/reward was out of balance.  This is a bad thing, right?

Ok....so afterward the risk/reward was still out of balance in the opposite direction.   Isn't that still bad?

So wouldn't it make more sense to stop the endless demons coming out of the portal instead making them yield no reward while still being able to kill you?

Waffles

No thanks to you rushing the process >.<

Screw it, i'mma guess 520 for the announcements, let's make a game out of this.

I don't have any problem with "I'll make the best of it either way".  I feel the same.

I have a problem with:

That's not cool.

And again.... the person who responds gets the "you should shut up" post.   No problem at all when someone again posts:

Maybe this type of selfish thought should be kept quiet?

I agree. I just always used them as bonuses we could get with the set.

Every since the better minds of the forums found that you could get a more damaging attack chain outside of the combos (high recharge), I've thought of them that way.
That and as a great way to add versatility to your set. Get in over your head, use the defensive combo. Working on farming IOs for that great single target attack chain, use the aoe combos.

That way you get the best of all worlds.

I just hope that when all is said and done, we get a kickass trailer trumpeting the revival of the game. (Hopefully the new team gets someone like Angelus Animi or Leandro or TimTheEnchanter to do it!)

I sorta understood why SS had that downside.   Every travel power had one.   If SS lost that downside it would be necessary to rid the others of their downsides as well to make each travel power equally attractive.  ...Though teleport would probably always lag behind the others.  (not for me though...I had it on a lot of toons)

I took SS in DCUO - that was probably the most ridiculously large amount of fun I had in that game, was speeding up the sides of buildings and leaping off.

Why? IF the game comes back, think of all the new people the news of its return will draw. You really think people want to hop on a game that, for intents and purposes, is new (at least to them) only see a bunch of 50 ss/fa brutes hanging out in AE waiting to start their next farm? You think that's good for the health of the game? I don't. The people that have played before will level in no time at all. The people that haven't will have a wealth of veterans to draw on for help and advice in the lower levels. See, I'm looking at it from a health of the game perspective not from the "I want to play my 8 year old blaster, Mr. Blastypants"perspective. What you seem to be forgetting is I also had a wealth of 50s with back stories, IOs, and in game money. But I see no reason to dwell in the past and am willing to forgo that for what I see as a brighter future for the game.

But I digress, opinions are like pancakes, everyone...
Loves..
Them..
Wait, that doesn't work.

For what it's worth I do hope all of US veterans get our vet rewards and costume purchases back.

Tim and Leandro are especially awesome, and Leandro is still going with new CoH videos even this year (I haven't seen some of the others do any new ones lately, but maybe I'm just missing them).  It's really been heartwarming to see a version of CoH still keeping the flame going so to speak, and it's an incredible amount of work.  I wonder if the former Paragon Studios devs see them too?  I wonder if they ever realized how devoted their fan base was....  I'd expect they know about the latest resurrection efforts at any rate....
