I'm sorry, I thought voicing opinions and sharing ideas was the general purpose of a bulletin board?

Also, I'm not part of this deal. I'm just a player. Expecting mere players of the game to either understand or respect the intricacies of business deals is ludicrous. You think Hasbro cared what every fanboy had to say when it bought Wizards of the Coast?
Living with someone who worked for WotC, I can assure you, they did. They may not have been able to respond, but they did care.

One thought that may creep into NCSoft's head is a more skeptical view of the buyers due to a perceived lack of ability to keep information to themselves.

All the loose talk might just make it look like the buyers are not being professional in their dealings.  (i.e. careless with information)

I'll stress that I'm not saying that....just thinking the thought might enter someone's head at NCSoft.

my thoughts exactly...

another thing that hasnt been even remotely considered..

what is Nc Soft DOESNT sell everything lock stock and barrel? What if there is a partnership arrangement.. What if Nc Soft get a share of revenue for a specific amount of time? All these things could be potential factors in negotiations..

which is why I believe the best course of action is to stop sharing info with the community because you cannot control " the community "..

The next info that should be shared IMO is.. We have the game.. Or we dont..

And it happened anyway. Because Hasbro is smart!

Now you know.

I for one agree..I would rather wait for an answer then read all the negative remarks and hated that this thread has turned into :(

I get what you are trying to get at, this is not about respecting the internal business workings it is about respecting those who have went on a limb to give us a chance to play city of and chance at some point to play city of. I am not going to say I am innocent when it comes to bad mouthing Nc, but I have stopped because it served no good. It made me feel good for a few minutes, and that's all.
a message bord is to share different opinions and ideas, but it should be done in a respectful manner, and I think that is what wolf is trying to say. (wolf if I am mistaken please correct me.)

Oh yeah, and check it out. I make a buncha posts on a single Sunday afternoon on a single board and now I'm some pariah because I might have killed the game.

Well, if it was that easy to kill a big business deal, then it really must have been on some very shaky ground already. Y'think?

Of course ALL of them cannot be persuaded to act their age... NEVER in the history of CoX has EVERYONE agreed on anything. Give out a shiny new costume set for free..someone will complain it didn't have something. Offer up 500 free store points...someone will think it should have been 1000. Change a power's stats...someone will be upset and think it should have stayed the same.

I don't think anyone truly thinks we can get ALL of the morons on FB to settle down, but if we could get half of them to act their age that would be a Godsend.

You want all of them calm down? Ain't gonna happen. Seriously, try to persuade them all. Lemme know how that goes.

It's funny if you think I'm one of them tho. Go and check to see if I've made any other posts anywhere else. I assure it, it's zero.

Was it a mistake to let out word of what was happening? I don't think so, people were dying for a drink of water. It was painful to watch and so - I, a normal guy with no big money and no contacts - I tried.

I wanted the community to have hope.

I wanted the game back, because it means selfishly - a lot to me. I shared the information and the Devs being of our community saw what the tiniest spark of hope did. It lit the darkness and we once more can find a way to win. Superheroes aren't special because of their powers, they are special because they don't quit. They get up again and make sacrifices.

I think often of the train scene in Spiderman where they see - he is just a kid. He is bleeding, he is still getting up and they understand him then - he chooses to help them because he knows what they feel. They then stand in front of Doc Octopus and while he grabs Spiderman anyways - he shows what the people needed - hope.

If this is too much for you to bear during this rollercoaster - take a couple months off and play golf, tennis, basketball or take up painting - write a book.

We will be here still trying even if this one fails. You might have to be the guy who picks us up next time.
I agree with this, even though I am logged in for a very long time, behind the scenes I am doing my workplace com homework or watching videos on youtube like smoshgames and watching other things that I have taken a liking to.
One day the Phoenix will rise again.

A very weak argument. NCSoft has been doing business in North America for a long time now. If they don't understand our culture by now, they never will.

It's not that they don't understand our culture, it's that it's a non-factor for them. The Asian corporate world is very different from ours. To get the best end result, the people going to bat for us need to play their game. Everyone does need to calm down and just be patient. Arguing only divides us.

I'm going to say that I remember CoyoteSeven from the official CoH boards from many many years of posting/lurking. They are the type to revel in conflict and chaos, and honestly? Every board's going to have a few of the type. We are all players/fans/addicts(?) of this shared game, and our emotions are going to swirl together in this shared mixing pot. Different points of view are always welcome, but let's not go sniping at each other unnecessarily, spirited discussion is awesome, but fisticuffs for the sake of fisticuffs is counterproductive to everyone involved.

NCSoft are a Korean company first and foremost, different culture, the people in the decision-making positions are going to be paying attention, no matter how indirectly, to major social media outlets like Facebook, and heck, likely here too. Titan Network is the base of operations for a large amount of the fan made addons for CoH. It makes sense for them to be watching the eddies and flows surrounding this deal. They are also going to be mindful of the speculation. They owe us as players, and as the former publisher and current IP holder of the CoH/V rights, nothing. We have a deal in the works with a group of players and who-knows-who else (I'm not one of them! Let me be clear on that!) that could see the re-launch and a future for the game we're all here and passionate about, and we've gotten word that if we start up the bandwagon again on "BIG EVIL CORPORATE NCSOFT RAWR!" it could damage these negotiations, then would it not make sense for us to at least temper that sentiment? I know I for one have buried my hatchet over it all. They're a business, it is what they do.

As a Hero, I hope for a bright future with my little corner of the playground that is City of Heroes, and I'll fight for that. As a Villain, I will seize the opportunity for my own gains and eventually TAKE OVER PARAGON CITY. As a Vigilante, I'll do what is necessary to get my game back, and as a Rogue, you better believe I'll fight for the game, as the payoff will be worth it!

So let's please, if not bury the hatchet, at LEAST take a wait-and-see approach, and let the negotiations take their course without rocking the boat too hard, eh?

Just because I decided to speak for the fans instead of the publishers

Rlly... I'm a fan and I know for sure I haven't asked u to speak for me.

Just sayin

It's not their job to know and respect our culture.... they are the ones holding the property. You don't approach someone to make a deal with them and expect them to go by your rules and customs... We approached them....We need to respect their culture. THAT is business 101.

FYI.... I never said YOU.. I said THEM... Don't go trying to be a martyr when no one has said YOU personally are to blame.  You came on here and stated your opinion...if you don't like what people have to say about your opinion that is on you. I am speaking AS A KOREAN on how the actions on FB are being perceived by other Koreans. You don't know our culture..and your thoughts about what others should do is in opposition to what truly should be done when negotiating a deal with a Korean company. WE went to NCSoft... WE need to respect their business culture... and WE need to try and calm the noise as much as possible because it is OUR responsibility to respect them if WE want this deal to go through. YOU may not like it...but there is a price to pay if WE want OUR game back. Part of that price is learning what WE should and should not do to the people WE are asking to deal with on THEIR terms.

It's business which a lot of people on FB do not have the emotional or intellectual maturity to recognize. So WE need to make them aware that THEIR actions are seen as an insult to the people WE are trying to.. begging to...sell us OUR game back.

I can't help it. I'm a Marxist, so that means I'm always defending the little guy. Needless to say, this puts me at odds with quite a number of people.

It would instead be a "Can you manage the fanbase? Will they be loyal to you? Or would they turn on you as quickly as they turned on us?"

Again, it makes me really nervous if the behavior of uncontrollable strangers online is being used as any kind of a lever in this deal.

Does Blizzard "manage" WoW's fanbase? Somehow, and I may be wrong, but somehow I doubt they do. You "manage" employees. The fans are not employees. My point being, this does not sound like a realistic demand for any company to make.

Is there one single game where NC is "managing the fanbase"? Or any gaming company is able to control their fanbase? If so it is certainly news to me!

Here's how you [rhetorical you, that is] keep the fanbase loyal: its really easy. You be nice to them. Don't do mean things to them. I would think this went without saying, but maybe not....? If you do nasty things to your customers, THEN they come after you with the nukes, with the knives, the sharp sticks.... you would think they would already know this, after the first go-round! It makes me want to facepalm.

I am not AT ALL saying that people shouldn't calm down and stop stirring the pot. What worries me is this negotiation process is seeming more and more like and egg-and-spoon race, with the eggs hollowed out and stuffed with nitroglycerin.

There's a word for such people.

Troll.

There's a golden rule on the internet for dealing with them, too.

Don't feed the trolls.

Yeah, no. I'd be a troll if I didn't actually believe anything I was saying and I was only doing this to get a rise out of people. I assure you, the feelings I've expressed here today are totally sincere.

"Troll" does not mean "people who say things you don't like." And now you've made another mistake, just like I said you would.
