I only have one issue with your comments - if you read through them you will see time and again how you say other people should just feel!

They feel how they do - it isn't our choice. I hear a lot of anger - NCSoft does not like what was happening - can't you see that this may very well be a final test? Who is left to play the game? Just rabid screaming fans - or a calm mature group? It matters to them - don't you recall they want their name to remain on the game?

It matters to them. We need to respect that. They did not say go away this is too much hassle - they said - can you ask the community to calm down a little? Is what they have asked so very much? I truly am asking.

You don't understand. You actually WANT "rabid screaming fans". They're the ones worked up over the loss of their game. Which was more than a just a game to them, I might add. It was a community. If they were all quiet and calm, that would mean they're already apathetic with regards to whether the game came back or not. So, no. You want people are emotional about the game. You want people who are excited to have it back. This maelstrom is exactly what you want to have. They'd be fools not to see that.

That's the last thing you want when undertaking legal negotiations, you want calmness and space to think. If you think rabid screaming fans are going to help this deal right now, you are epically deluded.

I guess some players just hate NCSoft more then they love CoX...

Keep up the good work regardless! I yearn to roleplay on Union again.

I fully agree with this statement.  >:(

And I wish to play on Champions again.  Tracks of Death was my SG. :)

Like yours you mean?

Seriously dude, chill out, calm down and take a walk in the fresh air for a few hours...

An ad hominem! I feel touched. Thank you for taking me back to the days of usenet. :)

I think you are confusing running an active game with making a business deal. If we get the game back we want ALL of the wonderful conventions, costumes and fans. Making a business deal is calm and deliberate. They are not asking you to shut up and go away - which is what you appear to be hearing. They are saying for the duration of these talks can the community remain calm?

Can we? Can you?

Or the brainless morons spouting their stupid pie holes off could STFU and stop acting like spoiled brats.
Come on Floaty... I find them just as annoying but that's no excuse to get mean!

The fanbase, as a collective, is like a force of nature. There's a virtual crowd mentality going on right now (particularly on Facebook, where such behavior is enabled). A fanbase, I might add, that was encouraged to grow and was nurtured thanks to NCSoft's efforts for... what, seven or eight years? You can't just dump that many people by the wayside and take no responsibility for it. It just doesn't work that way. Those same fans once sang NCSoft's praises when the game was live. When the announcement came, they all felt betrayed. If NCSoft doesn't understand that, then this deal will indeed fall through. And so will any future deals, if any come. And it won't be our collective fault. It will be theirs.

Don't blame the players for this. Just don't. NCSoft is reaping what they sowed.

:(   I'm not sure how to respond, as I will never agree to what ncsoft did, and didn't/don't like it.  ***But I wouldn't want to be part of the reason (even if it was/was not corporation bullying and wrongdoing).... I wouldn't want to be part of a reason that this deal didn't go through.
I really miss this game, and our community, and as I stated before I have a lot of hope and respect for all  the time/months and effort of those behind the scenes trying so hard to bring back COH.....for us.
Maybe I'm just a soft touch. lol  :)

If this were a western company, what you say might be true.

It isn't, and you've been told several times now, they do NOT like the noises being made.  Be quiet.

Burnt Toast

Ahhh so adults shouldn't be mature and held responsible for their actions because the big bad corporation is making them act like spoiled brats online... gotcha.

A company is offering to sit down and make amends by giving you your toy back... stop acting like a brat and sit down and shut up until you have the toy in your hand...then run off screaming all you want. From what I have seen many of the FB people are acting like spoiled brats throwing temper tantrums. If they want to act like children...don't be surprised when daddy doesn't give you your toy back until you learn to behave. When you stoop to a child's level of name calling and screaming childish insults...it's a reflection of you not the company.

Just saying.

Yes...you want passionate fans, however, you don't want them in your face while you're trying to sort out Legal issues/Other technical things during the deal.

You want all of them calm down? Ain't gonna happen. Seriously, try to persuade them all. Lemme know how that goes.

It's funny if you think I'm one of them tho. Go and check to see if I've made any other posts anywhere else. I assure it, it's zero.

HEATSTROKE

 Ironwolf...

The issue as I see it is this.. the angry minority is ALWAYS more vocal.. they will shout more.. they will post more.. they will argue more.. they will NEVER see both sides because for the majority of them.. expressing their opinion is far more important to them as the goal...

You also have another issue.. Many people believed this was too good to be true or a farce. So now that this is being discussed.. This is some of the mindset..

"SEE they are blaming US if we dont get the game.. so its OUR fault.. if they wanted to sell it they could just sell it.. so this is now being seen as the built in excuse if everything falls apart which is creating PRE-anger so to speak.."

What I hope happens is that the possible purchasers and NC Soft actually see the majority who desire to play the game and will be customers. unfortunately what I am concerned about is that majority will go silent... because they are respecting the wishes of the negotiators...

so all that is left.. is the vocal minority...

I don't know what the reason was other than NCSoft has expressed in the negotiations that they do not like the sudden overwhelming speculation - that appears to be centered on Facebook. Many still do tie to NCSoft and bashing them or the new Devs when no one knows the terms of the sale - is silly.
One thought that may creep into NCSoft's head is a more skeptical view of the buyers due to a perceived lack of ability to keep information to themselves.

All the loose talk might just make it look like the buyers are not being professional in their dealings.  (i.e. careless with information)

I'll stress that I'm not saying that....just thinking the thought might enter someone's head at NCSoft.

btru

I have to wonder if they are finally logging into their facebook profile (which hasn't been updated in a long time last time I checked) to see these comments.

I'm sorry, I thought voicing opinions and sharing ideas was the general purpose of a bulletin board?

Also, I'm not part of this deal. I'm just a player. Expecting mere players of the game to either understand or respect the intricacies of business deals is ludicrous. You think Hasbro cared what every fanboy had to say when it bought Wizards of the Coast?

A very weak argument. NCSoft has been doing business in North America for a long time now. If they don't understand our culture by now, they never will.

*gah!*

Decide to take some time to unpack boxes at my new house, and I fall like 5-6 pages behind! :P

I've been putting up a pole barn for my sister in my spare time. Lucky you to only be that far behind. This is what I get for having done construction in my younger days. I should have picked something easier. I'm so sore right now! Can't wait to get back to my day job so I can rest. I'll also be on midnights for the next week due to someone's vacation.

Too bad the FB crowd seem to be in a hurry to bash a company that can sink any effort to restore the game with a no! I don't have the best regard for NC, but I'd be perfectly willing to keep my trap shut until the deal it done.
I am an ass, but don't we all love a good ass!

Ironwolf

Was it a mistake to let out word of what was happening? I don't think so, people were dying for a drink of water. It was painful to watch and so - I, a normal guy with no big money and no contacts - I tried.

I wanted the community to have hope.

I wanted the game back, because it means selfishly - a lot to me. I shared the information and the Devs being of our community saw what the tiniest spark of hope did. It lit the darkness and we once more can find a way to win. Superheroes aren't special because of their powers, they are special because they don't quit. They get up again and make sacrifices.

I think often of the train scene in Spiderman where they see - he is just a kid. He is bleeding, he is still getting up and they understand him then - he chooses to help them because he knows what they feel. They then stand in front of Doc Octopus and while he grabs Spiderman anyways - he shows what the people needed - hope.

If this is too much for you to bear during this rollercoaster - take a couple months off and play golf, tennis, basketball or take up painting - write a book.

We will be here still trying even if this one fails. You might have to be the guy who picks us up next time.
