I'm not saying we shouldn't  keep it quiet, I fully expected it to stay here, but expecting nothing but positivity is kind of unrealistic especially given the situation and I would have thought they'd be prepared (at least expecting) to find a mix of both positive and negative, which is what is going on.

There's also the fact that some people simply have to make sure that it's known that their negative impression of the situation was right all along. Like the character in a movie who, when the group are implementing an idea to salvage the situation, keeps saying, "Okay, but I just know it's not going to work." His repeated insistence does nothing to help, and could negatively influence others' actions, but he can't help saying it. Such is the human psyche.

I don't think I'd want some potential devs who were so skittish that they'd bolt at the first sign of restlessness and excitement from the fans. What would happen when and if they got the game online and had to deal with the angry mobs on a daily basis? That would be a disaster and a half.

But I don't think that was really ever on us and I don't think it was ever the clincher that soured a deal. I think most of them understand that us mere players of the game are not beholden to their deals and their politics (at least until the game goes live and there's a EULA to be clicked on). To them, and collectively, we are a force of nature that just happens to react to their actions, whether real or merely perceived. And if perchance they really did get scared away because of us, I'd much rather that happen before they commit themselves!

That's how I feel anyway.

So put it in a nut shell for me :D I take it you want all information at your disposal and all assurances you get what you want?

Understand I speak for no one but me, my experiences with people, and my understanding of professionalism. It's my understanding one of the attempts broke down on the team end (not NCSoft) cause the speculation and attention was so great they got too nervous and just dropped out. One would think if you really wanted this, and really learned from others mistakes for success, you would have already expected this and come to terms with it, intending not to let it effect you or at least try and ignore it and keep the eyes on the prize (for now at least) if you really expect success. They are already "hidden" behind a wall from us, our "future" hangs in the balance of a battle we can take no part in (for good or bad really) and can't even see, so the speculation and worry should be both normal and understood, only thing is it needs a level head, not that we have to stick to being only positive or be cut off from info, or that they might actually drop out like the other group.

For me, and perhaps me alone,  if our speculation scares them, then that affects my trust in them. I sit here and think, they must have a plan, and look forward to sharing that plan. If they truly believe in that plan and that it's something we will want, then they know that once they share it with us that the speculation will not only simmer down, but some of the more...worrisome...speculation will disappear with the truth, unless either A. one of the undesired speculations IS their plan and we seem to be against it, which means they need to rethink the plan if the response to the speculation was too negative, or B. They no longer believe in the plan verses our worries, since they only thing causing our worries IS not knowing the plan, in which case we can take it from there when it's made known to us. Just for me, it always makes my trust shaky when a team expects to only hear nice things and tries to control that, Cryptic has been doing it for the past few years and it's distasteful. And I worry that if use worrying (which is all we can really do) and speculation freaks them out, how will they be able to handle the stress of running a game, business, and making another game, which of course I want them to do, but they have to show that, completely blind faith isn't good nor wise, they have to show it and saying they won't share more with us cause we're freaking them out is the opposite.

Please try to note I'm not advocating that we be allowed to shout this from the mountain tops as I don't and has never been my point, nor that I have any intent on giving up on this nor them and DO believe speculation is expected and healthy (all we can do is sit here and minds race and worry), but should be tempered with common sense and calmness.
Please don't send blind requests in games to me, I learned to ignore them in CoX, no offense meant. (this is only here until I can figure out how to put it in my actual profile on here.)

I guess you are not hearing what is being said - NCSoft was upset the first time by all of the stuff that went on.

They would like this deal to be done quietly. The Devs would love to come in and welcome everyone to the new CoH! They can't and more than likely are now under NDA's.

They can't defend themselves or reply and I am also limited by what I can say. They do understand why everyone is excited. Don't make the mistake of assuming why they are being quiet as relutance to speak. Try and act as reasonable adults. I can't control Facebook - I tried to direct them here and they just run rampant with whatever they wish. I do not want to criticize people - I get excited by all of this too, I just want you to dream Paragon dreams and stay constructive.

Agreed, human nature, which simply goes back to expectation and acceptance, which would better help steel their resolve then expecting everyone to simply change. Some people will be positive, some negative, some a mix, it's how they choose to handle that which matters.

All of this would be wonderfully valid - IF WE HAD THE GAME. Right now you have a team who for the first time in 2 years is able to actually get through to make a deal.

They are asking everyone to relax for a while and let them get the deal DONE. NCSoft is the one who is not liking it.

If it was NCSoft that balked that last time, then I stand corrected on that point, but i wish people didn't read into negativity, or at least where no negativity was mentioned. I fully understand, since this started, that it needed to stay quiet to keep NCSoft happy, I also fully support that. I don't expect them to tell us anything NOW, nor reveal themselves YET, nor do I think that they are reluctant, simply that you said that speculation was beginning to freak them out and that we had to stay positive or they wouldn't keep telling you stuff, THAT is what I take issue with. Both in how unrealistic that is and how I feel that damages my personal confidence in them. I don't expect them to defend themselves, in fact dispite what speculation there is they have nothing TO defend until the deal is done, they let us know them, know their plans and THEN the conversations sparked by that might need that.

I agree that the speculation shouldn't erupt into false truths and run wild, but expecting ONLY positivity and requiring it to continue to get info is a bar set to high.

Are you saying NCSoft can see this thread or just Facebook? Cause with all due respect, I don't know what we can do about Facebook, I don't even use it.

Why would NCsoft be looking at this? It's the new team watching what we're posting.

Neither do I. My sister wanted me to register so that we could play Words with Friends, but I'm still skeptical about privacy and security after all the crapola I've heard in connection with them.

except if you read Iron's post, he said:

"They are asking everyone to relax for a while and let them get the deal DONE. NCSoft is the one who is not liking it."

Which means that it is NCSoft who is upset with all the wild speculations and things getting out of hand (perhaps only on Facebook), which is what I'M responding to in the post you quoted...context.

Since it only began rumblings after Facebook became noisy, my assumption would be that their focus is there.

Hell, I saw someone had put up a Youtube video earlier, and that's just asking for trouble.

I'll admit I had one once, when Dragon Age 2 came out, and ONLY cause they tied in game items and content to some stupid little Facebook app game, but once I got all the stuff for Dragon Age 2 from it, I quickly forgot about the Facebook account all together...now if only I could get through Dragon Age Origins.
