You know, I hope they can get the user data for one reason. I don't need to get all my characters back, I'm fine playing them all from level 1 to 50 all over again. In fact, it seems like an exciting prospect. I just want all my veteran's rewards back. I don't really want to wait years to accumulate all the rewards I had previously. Of course, even if I have to start from the very beginning, I'm there. With bells on.

As far as CoH2 goes, I want the basic mechanics to stay the same. That's not to say I wouldn't welcome SOME updating of powersets, but the rule of thumb should be "Does it still PLAY like CoH?". That being said, maybe it would be kind of cool to see some of later mechanics integrated into some of the earlier powersets to set them apart from each other a little. Let's face it, the mace and axe sets were almost exactly the same. The same could be said of some of the blast sets as well. I wouldn't mind some changes that gave them some flavor.

Most of us old timers want our 1 year anniversary badges back. Oh, and the rest if we can get it. :D

(I'd mention names, but I'm saving them for the relaunch.  All three only worked for a female.)

So maybe I shouldn't have added the names when I posted my characters' group photo?

Oh, well. I'll just see it as proof that those names are mine.
Linux. Because a world without walls or fences won't need Windows or Gates.

I had I think three female characters out of my entire stable.  I had several reasons for having them.  They fit with a concept.  (I'd mention names, but I'm saving them for the relaunch.  All three only worked for a female.)  "If I have to stare at a butt the whole time it may as well be an attractive one."  I got to dress them interestingly.  (Yes, I am a perv.  You might note that for future reference.  Whats your point?)  I also found that when I teamed with them I was treated less harshly.

Male characters were denied the shoulder kitty.

QuoteI tried Dual Blades, Staff Fighting,  and Water Blast - all of them just left me feeling "meh".

Ah, see, I adored Dual Blades and Water Blast -- especially my beloved Water Blast.

I never got the chance to give Staff Fighting a real tryout -- I got to level 12 or something -- but I think I would have loved it as well, if only for the animations.

Yeah. I really REALLY like Dual Blades. Sadly it was the only power set to use combos in that way. I'm hoping we get more innovation. We already have plenty of the old-school tried-and-true powersets. I don't think we need more of the same!

I generally played male. I would play a female character if the concept seemed right. Madame Mardi Gras was a black woman from the Treme in New Orleans. I am none of those things but it worked with the idea of Magic and Time control. She was just trying to save her family from Katrina, but time travel only made it worse.

Personally, I have never understood hitting on other people of either sex in a video game. When I want to date someone I try and find someone I could conceivably meet in real life. CoH is where I feel like a hero (occasionally a villain) not where I'm trying to get a hook up.

But, meh, if that is you bag, just take "no" and "piss-off" as answer. Be respectful of others and let them play as they like. We will all be happier that way!

ERP was talked about a while back. I don't get it, but if that's what does it for them(snicker), and they keep it private, it's not my concern. I think for most people, upon finding out you aren't what they though you were, would leave it at that. The only thing that would bother me is that there are children playing the game.

Of course! It wouldn't be the internet otherwise!

I can't wait!

Are we there yet?  ;D
We're almost there!  ;D

To be honest, I liked the older power sets better.  I don't like having to do powers in a particular sequence to get max benefit or having to build up power to enable a power.     I have no problem with them trying new mechanics with new power sets, but hopefully they'll also add a few new sets that are done the 'old' way.  I tried Dual Blades, Staff Fighting,  and Water Blast - all of them just left me feeling "meh".

I tried Dual Blades.. I didnt like chasing the orange circle.. it felt mechanical.. the attacks I initiated were always dictated by trying to get that circle..

However the later sets with different effects.. Staff Fighting. Water Blast.. Street Fighting.. felt " natural " they had a flow.. much better..

Agreed, never got into DB for that reason. The next character I roll will probably be water, unless we start from scratch, or not. Hmm, Traps/Water Def. Back to Mids!

One time I was standing in WW in Atlas (on the character in my avi) and dropped a portable crafting table beside me.  I did this a lot, since it seemed like kind of a "community service" thing and people would invariably wander up and use it for as long as it was down.

This time, as I was clicking the button to place it, this female character somehow ends up right in the middle of the reticle and I summon the crafting table around her, pinning her in place.

I apologized profusely, and her response - in local chat - was basically, "No, it's all right - I like being restrained.  You can do more to me, if you want."

I'm not sure me making the crafting table explode around her was what she had in mind.

Actually, you didn't need to remove the crafting table. CoX had the /STUCK command which would move you a little bit to help get you "unstuck". I seem to recall a tree in Perez Park that I used to get over the wall (before the Jump Pack from GvE edition) that took about 20 /STUCK to get me out of it!

I need to download these. I don't trust the interwebs. It loses my stuff sometimes and it would be a crime to not see those when I want to!

They're all right here: http://wanderingcrane.com/Videos.html

Alternately, if you wanna watch them ALL (in the order they aired), I've got a YouTube playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhnv3lhy4sqxxbdBrWyws_wlYeEMi0zk6

All 38 videos for a grand total of 2 hours, 3 minutes of CoH video weirdness. :) Something to do while you're refreshing this thread. *laughs*

I would just like to say - please keep the thoughts positive about the purchase of the game. It is sort of freaking out the Devs seeing themselves being picked apart based on speculation.

If you can't keep things positive it will drastically reduce what information I will be getting. Facebook..........yes I am looking at you! Complete speculation on where the game is going when they don't have the game yet - is not wise.

I have tried to treat everyone like adults and give you what I can. There is a lot of pressure on these folks and they are feeling it. To ponder on what ifs and then act as if those what ifs are the truth - is silly.

Let me try and clear all the speculation up:
1. A team is trying to get the game.
2. They are getting closer.
3. They want to get the old game running if it is at all possible with Issue 24.
4. They want to move forward with CoH2 as well.

That is in a nutshell what we have. It is wonderful to think about the future - but we don't have a future - yet. Please pass this on - especially you Facebook folks!

I can only imagine! I would be hyperventilating every time I looked at this board if I were one of the devs.

For what it's worth, I have great faith in the future of the franchise. Maybe I'm just a crazy optimist, but I really believe we're going to get our game back and it's going to be great.

THANK YOU!  Seriously, it's not as if the fans out here aren't getting fed up with the pointless speculation too.  Jeez, I don't even want to think how much stress people freaking out over their ill-perceived what-ifs are causing.  Ulcers much?
