That's kinda vague depending on your definition  ;) But if you're accurate, you're and old focker :D
I am an ass, but don't we all love a good ass!

When I was 14, Doctor Who had just been canceled. And then, as now, we have work to do. :)

The month I turned 14 Elvis died, the TRS-80 Model 1 was announced (I still have mine, bought a few years later, somewhere in the "storage", i.e. hoarders, room). Voyager 2 was launched. The Space Shuttle Enterprise did its first flight test.

Started college the same month Elvis died. :)

Okay, let's see...

When I turned 14, Ghostbusters was in theaters, the A-Team and Knight Rider were on TV, the #1 song was Stevie Wonder's I Just Called To Say I Love You, the Macintosh computer was brand-new, Pac-Land was all over the arcades (and arcades still existed), and Ronald Reagan was re-elected president of the US.

Edit: I think that's one of the things I love about CoH; its players (and its continuing post-game community) are from all sorts of age groups.  I'm kinda smack-dab in the middle, it seems, rather than being the oldest person on the game (which is how I feel on many other MMOs)

When I was 14 (1964):

LBJ declares a "War on Poverty"... which was later changed to a "War on Prosperity".
Unlike the original goal, the new effort seems to be working out, unfortunately.

The Beatles released their first American Album, starting the British Invasion of the
American Music Industry, changing American Pop Music forever.

The first Ford Mustang rolls off the assembly line.

The best James Bond film of all time, Goldfinger, premieres.

And in Comic Book News.....

Captain America discovered and brought out of hibernation by the Avengers.

The Justice League of Earth-1 and the Justice Society of Earth-2 face off against
the Crime Syndicate of Earth-3 for the first time.

First of many battles between Iron Man and his arch-foe, The Mandarin.

Aquaman marries Mera, exiled queen of another dimension's watery realm.

Here's a site that's a true treasure trove of comic book nostalgia.  Want to see all the covers for a given series?  Want to see all the comics published during a given month?
Here it is!

http://www.dcindexes.com/features/timemachine.php?site=

Oh don't let the web address of this site fool you, it's a great source of info on all american comics irregardless of the publisher.  Quite a bit of cross-linked info on comics as well as a cover gallery second to none.

Have fun browsing the site!

I'd fit in the "youngest" group, knowing that I was 5 when I started playing and am 14 now.

I turned 14 two days after the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded.
I wouldn't use the word "replace," but there's no word for "take over for you and make everything better almost immediately," so we just say "replace."

When I was 14, Reagan was elected to his first term in office.
The personal computer boom was just getting started.  No cable TV, just the 3 major networks.
And I was still collecting comic books.

Unfortunately, these days, they are no longer made for kids, and cost more than magazines. :(

When I was 14 Roman noodles costed 10 cents, now they cost a buck fifty.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

The month before I turned 14, Microsoft released a new piece of software called "Windows", version 1.0.  The world population had not quite yet topped 5 billion.  When I was 14:
  • The Challenger shuttle blew up.  :(
  • Pixar Animation Studios opened with a $10 million investment by recently-ousted Apple CEO Steve Jobs.  The company almost went out of business selling hardware and doing animated commercials before Steve Jobs invested $50 million more and it finally released its first commercial film almost 10 years later, Toy Story.
  • "Baby Doc" Duvalier fled Haiti.
  • Mir was launched.  For those who don't know what that is, it's like the Russian version of the International Space Station, but without so much Inter.
  • The Marcoses (Marces? Marci? Marcae?), Ferdinand and Isabella, fled the Philippines, and Cory Aquino became the first woman president of the country.  Shoe fetishists mourned for years.
  • Microsoft became a public company, eventually making Bill Gates the first man documented to be richer than God.
  • Geraldo Rivera opened Al Capone's vault on national prime time television. Discovered inside: One bottle of moonshine.  This cemented Geraldo Rivera's reputation as the king of sleazy reality television, and he launched his "taboid tv" show Geraldo the following year.
  • The nuclear reactor in Chernobyl, Ukraine (then still part of the USSR, as it probably will be again soon) went critical and exploded, releasing over 200 times the radiation of the Hiroshima bomb into the atmosphere.
  • Over 5 million people formed a human chain by holding "Hands across America" from Long Beach, California to New York City to raise money to fight hunger and homelessness.
  • Len Bias dropped dead of a cocaine overdose-induced heart attack after being selected second in the NBA draft by the Boston Celtics.  This was kind of a BFD in sports, as it focused the "Just Say No" and drug war campaign squarely on the sports world.  The ramifications of that focus are still being felt today across just about all sports.
  • LISTSERV, the first emailing list management software that had features such as allowing people to automatically subscribe and unsubscribe to mass emailings, was released.
  • The Statue of Liberty was reopened after an extensive restoration project lasting approximately four years.  It was also the centennial celebration of the monument.
  • Prince Andrew married Princess Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson.  Ten years later, they would get divorced.
  • USPS employee Patrick Sherrill killed 14 coworkers before committing suicide.  As a result, the term "going postal" was coined to describe mass, indiscriminate killing.
  • Pan Am flight 73 was hijacked in Karachi, Pakistan by members of Abu Nidal's terrorist organization.  Abu Nidal was the Osama bin Laden of the pre-Osama bin Laden era.  In other news, when I was 14, Pan Am was still an airline...
  • Following her success in The Color Purple, Oprah Winfrey launched her new daytime talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show, eventually making her the first woman documented to be richer than God.
  • The Fox broadcast network launched with The Late Show, hosted by Joan Rivers. The following year, they would add a prime time lineup of shows including Married...with Children, The Tracey Ullman Show (notable for, among other things, its eventual spin-off of The Simpsons), 21 Jump Street, Mr. President, and Duet.
  • The first reports of the Iran-Contra scandal surfaced in a Lebanese newspaper.  Ronald Reagan formed a special commission (the Tower Commission) to investigate, and denied any involvement in the scandal.
  • Sperry Rand and Burroughs merged to form Unisys.
  • A newcomer on the boxing scene, Mike Tyson, won his first world boxing title by defeating Trevor Berbick.

A bunch more stuff went on that year, but that's the stuff that I actually personally remember happening.

Hey, cool. I'm not part of the youngest crowd.
Here we go, when I was 14:

City of Heroes had come out four years prior. I had been playing it for three years.
New Hampshire legalized civil unions for same-sex couples.
Fidel Castro retired.
California legalized same-sex marriage.
Bill Gates stepped down as chairman of Microsoft.
Barack Obama became the first black president.
The Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland was powered up.

So I was looking for a new game to play and stumbled on some interesting numbers. http://www.alteredgamer.com/pc-gaming/35992-mmo-subscriber-populations/ The population wasn't horrible in 2009. 125,000*$15 A month = 1,875,500? ok kinda low but still. take it or leave it.

If you created a character in COH when you were 5, you couldn't be older than... what, 14?

Lord. When I was 14 the Beatles had just broken up...
"The Beatles" were  a rock band, considered possibly the most pivotal and influential...
A "Rock Band" was a kind of musical group that made "Rock n' Roll" records...
A "Record" was a kind of analog file storage medium that encoded musical tracks in vinyl "grooves"

Never mind. (God, I'm old)

When I was 14, Ronald Reagan was president.
The Summer Olympics were being held in my home town of Los Angeles. My dad went nuts collecting pins.
I still played videogames on my Atari 2600.
And yeah we still had lots of records, but they were already being replaced by audio cassettes. That new "compact disc" technology was looking pretty keen, though. Too expensive for us! We'd just barely gotten our first VHS VCR!

I still feel old. :P

When I was 14..

I have a feeling that Wikipedia has been hit pretty hard recently with "list of events in the year 19**/2000" :)
