Wow, somebody tanked in record time trying to sell the objectification of women?  They must have been REALLY bad at it, since it seems to me there are lots and lots of people making lots of money by doing that.

Let me get the review I saw anyhow, heh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpwBG2Dtpmk .

Yes, toplessness is something they blantly sold....

Edit: Heck, a lot of reviews weren't positive.

Another Edit: Know, after watching it again and whatnot, cannot say there is a single thing that didn't actually offend me there.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Stupid question, while I'm impressed someone was able to change the art style, is this a layer? I'm looking and can't help but notice the longbow and citizens walking around as if the game was running o.O what am I looking at?

Regarding a "new look", if someone buys it, they could just as easily decide to take the art style in an entirely different direction. Might be easier than recreating the entire game in something like Unreal, which, make no mistake, would be effectively the same as rewriting it.

Please don't send blind requests in games to me, I learned to ignore them in CoX, no offense meant. (this is only here until I can figure out how to put it in my actual profile on here.)

Additional question: If this "company" succeeds and gets the game and they put it back up *eventually* do they intend to re-instate as much as they can (all zones and powersets and the vet rewards and store, based on what all we get back), set things as is then add (give access to everything at the time of i24, new powersets and what not you had to pay for free for all, while then focusing efforts on filling the store with new content) and do they already have devs on board or do you think that if they can afford to pay devs do you think any of the Paragon crew might consider returning? (I know none of them personally, so I can't say if any of them saw it as only a job or a beloved passion, I'd like to think it was the latter).

Psion, from Iron Wolf's previous posts:

(just trying to help by answering and save you some reading)

No one knows yet and it's too early to say. IF the sale happens, it will depend on what they get. They may get the IP, The Engine, Account records, all Art Assets, all documentation, other stuff I can't think of.

They may get any part of that list or all of it and until that's finalized there is no way to know. This will also determine the Key Question: How Long?

Not much of an answer I know but probably accurate. But Iron wolf will correct any stupid mistake I make.

Reminds me totally about that one Batman the animated series episode, you know the one ;). Can't you just imagine a signature story arc, revolving around your character,  (or whoever is in the team) staring either those Rouge Island villains, or some of the more big name independent ones, talking in a opening cinematic about how much they hate your hero and retelling their latest run in with you, cut to you and your team getting to play out that situation. :D Cheesy as heck, but I must say it's awesome at least to consider.

On one side, that. On the other... a CoH branded SRPG does sound appealing on some level.Villains' Poker Night... would make an awful game, but an excellent punchline to an AE scenario? :p

I cannot  see personal info or account information being provided as part of the proposed sale - that would be a major privacy /confidentiality issue.  :-X

Perfect World acquired Cryptic from Atari and apparently had no issues transferring account data for Champions, etc.

That boils down to things like security and whatnot, I can see the confidentiality issue of things, there is a chance they probably won't be bringing our old accounts over, if they did, they'd need to be able to do so in a way to protect the privacy for sure, usually though tech supports do have access to those kinds of things, but are specially held accountable if they mishandle things like that.  Also a concern for me is integrity though, which actually is far more important when it comes to security, since without integrity you lose confidentiality and accessibility is compromised to.  How would data flow from the game from the new server to us and vice versa?

Thats, odds are what'll take more time to implement then anything in any case, whether they get the IP or not and whether they get things like account info and whatnot.

I wouldn't be surprised if we all had to start new accounts, and would be if we didn't, but wouldn't be surprised in that case for example if we had to go through some processes or another to reactivate proper and also update the credentials proper.

Someone had just posted likewise as I was writing about cryptic going from atari to perfect world, and even changing how they implement things.  Now that I think about it minecraft went through similar with Mojang as they changed their account management systems.

This. Not a single issue with the exchange on my STO experience.

Personal/account data is sold between companies all the time. -shrugs-

The biggest problem with Scarlet Blade that I had...Was two fold. A) It wasn't fun. The gameplay was severely lacking.
and B) ...The supposed-to-be-hot girls.... weren't hot. They were really awkwardly proportioned for starters... -shakes head-

There have been several games that changed hands with no issues regarding account info (Perfect World's purchase of Cryptic, as mentioned above, and also The Burning Sea changed hands last year with account info intact). Can't see why it'd be a problem.

I suspect that you will have to claim your account in some fashion. The easiest way will probably be an email sent to your account's email address of record. If you still have your old login ID and access to the email account this can be done pretty securely.

If not, then it will be a customer service problem to make sure that no personal information is compromised.

The easiest way to handle it would be to require everyone to create a new account and then allow them to upload sentinel export files.

I realize that not everyone has these, but I suspect that if the old account data, including our characters is available and there is any way to connect us with them it is in their best interest to do so.

That's about the worst option possible. Sentinel exports are a "best we could do on short notice" format, and there's a lot of data that simply wasn't available clientside. Importing a Sentinel+ file will result in a character that looks like your character and has the same basic build (mostly, there's some fuzz with temp powers and inherents), but isn't quite the same.

Not to mention the possibility of shenanigans like mailing valuable items to each alt before exporting it.

i.e. they'd be okay for a hacky private server that has bugs anyway, but wouldn't work right in a "live" game environment and no sane commercial game operator would allow them to be imported. The support tickets alone for things not working right due to lost story arc and mission history, badge progress, hidden unlock tokens, and so on would be a major headache.

Cryptic was also an independent company owned by Atari. Paragon Studios was not, it was part of NC Interactive, Inc. The fun part was the user data was managed by a different company entirely. This is why there may be an issue, we do not know the precise nature of the sliceup here.

That's too bad Codewalker. I have no idea what's in those files other than the costumes and such.

Well, let's hope we can reactivate our accounts in some way.

Still, thanks for even giving us that. (sentinel files) Also, I know no one is talking about SCORE or anything but until this (please, please!) happens, I'm gonna hold on to them in case we need them for any future secret projects.

Frankly, I hope SCORE continues no matter what the outcome of these negotiations.  We lost our city once, we could lose it again.  I, for one, will never feel truly comfortable again until I have a means to play offline or via my own private server.

That said, if it does come back, I'll have my wallet out so fast to sign up I'll probably dislocate my shoulder.

Has there been any game that was shut down a year or more and came back with its player data restored?

I admit I'm expecting that if someone does bring the game back at this point we'll have to start over.
