Just saw this thread posted on SaveCoH FB Group.  We've been in cold storage for to long, both as a game and and a fan base.  It is is seriously time to take action.

I've posted a Call To Action that I'd like everyone to take part in.  The Bigger Noise We Make, the Bigger our Arm will be at the Negotiating Table.

http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,9802.0.html

And remember:  1,000 people x $1,000 = $1M

I have no doubt that we CAN and WILL raise that kind of money.  Please PM me for details.

I may be mistaken, but didn't Ironwolf advise us that causing a lot of noise could HURT the negotiations?

EDIT: I guess Ironwolf already saw that post before I responded. Sorry!

LaughingAlex

Yeah I agree with Ironwolf here, we need to see how the initial negotiations proceed before we make our next move.  Thats how negotiations work, in that after the initial phases of negotiations, if they turn out to be that, things begin to move from there.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

According to previous posts on negotiations, this is a bad idea. The more of an outcry we make, the more desperate we look and the more desperate we look the more money they'll want.

I think it is 2 sided:

1. desperation leads to increased price by virtue of having a monopoly on the product.
2. showing you have a customer demand means your audience can pay and is willing to.

Honestly and again it is just my opinion from running a business of my own in the past - when you are trying to make a deal be calm, be positive and find common ground. Walking in on day one saying you guys suck and never should have closed the game you idiots - would tend to be counter-productive.

Graphite

No money talk.  Got it.

@Ironwolf

What I want to do is start getting the Community motivated and moving again.  The Idea for "Project Got a Light?" actually came from a FB Group Called "Saber Selfies" where people posted pictures of their Lightsabers.

What I want to hear back ASAP so that I completely understand is... do you want the community to be silence during the negotiations so that the demand appears low, thus leaving the overall price down?  No Free Comic Day Splash?  No Planning For Dragon Con? No Project Got a Light?  And If Yes, for how long? A month, 6 months, a year?

I think the community needs at least a slight energy kick after hibernating for quite a while (outside of the new game projects that is).

I agree, but I never meant we should go in and be negative : P. Especially not insult NCsoft right to their faces.

I believe we should stand firm and patient for now.

Go figure I sent a message on the save cox facebook page and also the coh survivors to keep quiet for now and see how the negotiations go so to speak, I posted a link to this thread and also a link to what Ironwolf has said so far regarding the negotiations and making noise :).

I just want to say that I agree with all those who said we have to be patient. And for now, there is no date on anything. There is NCSoft in the equation too that we can't control. It'll take the time that it takes but let's be patient.

And you know, if you look at this thread, the community is moving and motivated again. Our way to show it, even if it is not obvious, is to hold our overexcitement and let Ironwolf guide us in the process he initiated, doing what he believes is good for everything to go well so our home will be back someday.

Believe me, it is the best way to show him our motivation, more than that will just screw everything out. So sit down, relax, take a cola and enjoy the show until IronWolf tells us to do something concrete.

In the meantime, all you can do is this: Believe, Have Faith and Hope!

Yes, the group negotiating shouldn't be insulting to their faces...but can the group go with spray paint and paint the insults on the exterior walls of their building?

juss sayin'

In my opinion, this is exactly right.

During the time around the rally, our goal was to make noise. For the past year and a half, our goal has been to stay connected. But right now, our goal is to remain patient.

I know that's harder than ever lately with the thought of this potential deal kicking up anxiety and excitement in us. But that's exactly *why* it's important to be patient and calm - now more than ever - because so far it's only a *potential* deal. If we rock the boat right now, who knows what effect we'll have on it. We could cause it to go away, and that's not a chance I'm willing to take.

We don't need to act just yet - things are already happening. Let's give those things a chance to happen. Once that sorts out, *then* we can figure out what our next goal is.

ShadowMokadara

Precisely, Triplash! Walking on eggshells.

"Loose Lips Sinks Ships"
"Silence is Golden"

Believe me, I get it.  If Ironwolf says to can it, then I'll can it.  When I started reving this up last night, it was in response to the high sorrow and negativity that is floating around the FB Community.  I didn't even know about these negotiations.  Most of the community think CoX is a sunk or sinking ship.

The reason I said ASAP is that YouTube Tutorials for making Torches and a Statesman Costume are going up in the next few days in prep for FCD, unless of course Ironwolf says stop it.

I trust his judgement.  He's the lead at this point.

Ultimately, I want to do what's best for Paragon.

ShadowMokadara

I think torches and Statesman costumes'd be pretty awesome as long as this thread/deal isn't brought up.

*Squeaks* I'd cosplay Maelstrom if I could. *Raises Riot Shields*

The negativity is precisely why we released an updated teaser trailer last night, to try and give people something else to focus on, something to hope for. I would not be surprised if Valiance is preparing something for this week as well.

Graphite

Yeah, but a dead game with no active fan market is a lot cheaper to buy.

The Brown Coats really didn't get reved up to make the movie until after Fox released the DvDs.  That was the Spark that set off the Gorilla Campaign.  I want "Project Got A Light?" to be the core of our Gorilla Campaign.

Graphite

@downix

I thought the teaser was great and news of a newer better competing game also helps bring the price down here.  I can see how a Social Media Viral Marketing Kickoff by the Fan Base could really undermine the negotiations.

I guess I'll ask the stupid question here but what is that "Project Got A Light?" thing and where does it come from?

Ironwolf

I am not really point on this - I am just trying not to add pressure to the folks making the pitch.

I really do understand how you guys feel and one part of me is running around like the fat kid with the light saber going crazy - the other part of me says - go slow. Last time we failed and it cost us a 18 months down time. Now is the time to be steadfast and resolved.

One way or another the folks involved have said they will post once they have word on something definite. I am unofficial cheerleader and waterboy. Now even if they say no - this time, perhaps we can find a way to give them what they want. If they say the money is good but your organization is lacking - we can say give us a couple of months and we can reorganize and come back to the table.

My own opinions here - keep it positive and any criticism they have recognize and either work to fix it or show your solution. Don't be defensive or answer off the cuff - take your time and get it right. Showing professionalism is what we need now. We as fans react from emotion - this is business now and knowing the people involved in this - I am very certain they will react as they should.

@Ironwolf

You are point on this.  You may not be sitting at the table or privy to all the details but you are the latest, greatest, and best "in" for the community.  Wither you admit it or not that makes you the leader and grunts like me are looking for on what direction to go next.

This is "Project Got A Light?" It's a New Viral Campaign I'm organizing.
