What will you do on day 1 of relaunch, assuming that we get our existing characters back?

I dunno... depending on the timing, prepare for the Halloween-Winter-Valentine event?

Had a titan/bio brute rolled up on Test, if that transitioned over would probably play that.  Alot.  That, or the pistol/martial blaster also on Test.

One of your final, "goodbye" videos had me all choked up (especially when the music from babylon5's Sleeping in Light hit the crescendo).

If/when we get CoH back, can we expect and similar "return" video with another heartbreaking/uplifting scene?

Short answer: yes. :)

My suggestion for making a Magnetic Control powerset that would have different functionality from Gravity would be to have a Polarity. Some of your powers would give the target a Positive polarity, others a Negative one. Positive powers would do different things to Negative targets than they would to Positive targets, and same for Negative powers. So you could have two different playstyles, depending on what you tagged your enemies with and what powers you then used on them.

That's obviously just a "top of my head" starting point, but I could see someone running with that to interesting places. :)

I like where your head is at here. Assuming this power set ever came about, I would say you could use cone spreads for most of the debuffs. Assuming the base accuracy was say 50%? you could have a positive cone debuff that had a unique effect like: Resistance debuff, then a negative cone debuff which had a: Defense debuff....but uniquely when both powers are used on the same group of enemies...they magnetize to one another grouping them together as a hold.

That would be the bee's knees.  ;)

Oh, I so want this to be the first vid I watch after relaunch!

Just curious...this may have been answered somewhere in the almost 300 pages of this thread and I apologize if so...

But if the current efforts by Ironwolf (Who should be knighted in game and given an honorary title for life should this thing actually happen!) do bring the game back online...is there any idea of when the lights might come back on? Please tell me sooner rather than later!

That really does depend on too many factors to call.  However, IF everything happens by the end of August, my PERSONAL feeling is that it might be possible to get things back online by Christmas.

Four months to acquire and configure hardware, start assembling a staff, tabulate the basics of what all is available / functional in the largely undocumented code, get people up to speed with whatever tools are available (likely few) and write initial necessary ones that aren't, write or integrate a new secure account handler and means to subscribe, create some sort of store handler (or plug holes that it being missing might cause), etc. Seems to be a pretty tall order just to get to the point trying out a beta run.

Not saying its impossible, but certainly a challenge in so short a span.  Indications have been that it will not be even close to a turnkey product that is being acquired by the unfortunate buyers...

Learning how to run it without any documentation, possibly without any source code....

Honestly, I'm figuring 6-months to a year.

Yeah, I'm prepared for it to take a while... I'm just eager to hear "WE GOT IT!" :)

Christmas would be PERFECT for so many reasons.

That long? OK. Guess I'll try and get caught up on all the games I have on steam. I need 8 to break a thousand (I am a badge whore there is no other way to say it) so I think I can keep busy until then.

But if we get it back sooner? Complain? Not hardly.

This! I don't mind at all it taking andy (<- lolwut) and all the time they need, it'll be so unbelievably worth the wait despite me being a fluffy ball of "Yay!!!!!1!..one;" right now.

No stress! Happy thoughts and Team Awesome can have all the karma in my karma-account for the no doubt trying days they must be going through right now!

Whenever this game comes back online - someone needs to add to City Hall Plaza, or make a new location,  nice big statues and plaques of all the people whose efforts brought COH back to life.

Maybe it's just me but I look forward to the days where I don't see many if any Ironwolf posts. I tell myself there is something going down so he can't find the time to update us all.

(That's just what I tell myself hah)

Tight, but doable!  In 2012, I learned C#, XAML, Silverlight, Javascript, Entity Framework LINQ, RIA Services AND planned and released a large scale database application with dozens of complex custom forms for our client in THREE months from scratch, for a rush job project.

They're still using V1.0, no bug reports, and happy as clams.  I got a big fat bonus for that too. :p

So it's certainly doable! ;)  (OK, it nearly killed me, but I still did it!)

I hope it is online by Christmas, but I think they might wait to announce at E3 and then release if they can't make it by Christmas.

Well, I don't care if it takes longer TBH, but I will make ONE firm prediction.

If they DO get the game, we'll be told on August 31st.

Yeah. I built a timelocked proximity-activated plexiglass lockbox in a week. -That- nearly killed me but I did it - don't mean I recommend anyone else to do something similar. Christmas would be nice, but as the others said, there's a lot to be done! Besides, if you estimate easter and it happens to be done by christmas then that's all coolbeans.  ^_^ I wouldn't feed the "ermahgerd-I-want-nao" trolls by making them believe a shoot-me-now deadline, I know I'd stress to pieces if I had that pressure on me...
