The games today are garbage... There is nothing to move on to.

This is the most absurd thing I've ever read, there's such a large variety of games available that you cannot possibly lump them all together as "bad".

That's difficult to believe, given the thread you're posting in.

There's a difference between "bad" and "fails to scratch all the same itches that CoH did".

I've played loads of good and even great games since CoH shut down, but none of them quite have that spark that CoH has, the one that kept me coming back to CoH when I would have long since gotten bored with other games.  Undertale and Borderlands 2 were and are great, but I can't play them dozens of times, creating a new character, running through different missions, even going through entirely different areas each time, like I could with CoH.

It was my favorite game of all time.

That doesn't mean other games are bad.  But they're not my favorite game of all time.

Rated worst parting line of all time by Match.com.

You gotta love all the things that were great about CoH. The freedom to solo if you wanted to; the team ups for harder content; the numbers of different power combos you could do; the skill at which people put together their builds for PvE/PvP/any and all contingencies. CoH was a great game for a lot of things.

Its sad to hear people claim the graphics will be dated and therefore uninteresting. It may not have the polish of some games today, but I would still rather throw my money to a team willing to take it on AND willing to use the excess money to make a successor worthy of the name CoH.

I don't think he was speaking of all games.  Just the competition :).  Hell, some of the competition is using bad business practices and now reinforcing the "pay wall" strategy, actually both of them do so, but one has used extremely underhanded tactics actually lower than the pay wall strategy.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

I agree with all of this, but "garbage" was the descriptor used, which is quite distinct from "fails to scratch the same itch that CoH did".

It makes me sad that this sort of thing is becoming more and more popular (and let's be honest, CoH was starting to do it too before shutdown, probably as a last ditch attempt at staving that off).  I was enjoying Doctor Who Legacy -- dumb little puzzle game that it is -- until they decided to start creating "premium" content with rewards required to upgrade characters past level 50.  A new Star Trek mobile game recently came out and being the hopeless Trek fan that I am I was considering trying that, but apparently that game is even worse, using the same idiotic "energy" system that most other mobile games use (DWL still being an exception, thankfully), and effectively forcing you to buy stuff really early on in order to progress.  This nonsense is why I'm tending to stick to indie games.

Then I will be absurd.I'm not going to find a game to replace CoH.The issue 23 image is what I want not the IP.Any successor game made will not work because the people making will think they can do better and ultimately the changes they make will be their game and not CoH.

Replacing CoH (failing to) and being bad are two wholly different criteria.

The end result is the same I'll wait for CoH to return.

Not at all.The game will return. It may take a long time but it will back.Games played on Atari,Commodore and all the game systems have made a return over the years.I don't check this site every day.I just think the odds are really good we will play again.

Aye, I've been avoiding multiplayer games for the same reason.  Honestly, CoH wasn't as bad IMO, the only stuff truely behind a pay wall was the incarnate content and IO system, and the IO system actually kept the cost very very low.  But then I look at the competition still there, and while DCUO tends to pay wall for content, CO is pay walling for power levels exclusively.

Made this post because, well.  http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,11624.0.html

It's, well, taken to 11 and it has already crossed the moral line for me before, but now it's just, it's yet another new low for CO.  Not gonna post anymore of it here(it's why I made that thread in fact).

Ah, but you forget, CoH was experimenting with its own form of lockboxes.  Not nearly as bad as PWE's lockbox spam (Locutus184990 has opened a Cardassian lockbox! XxMARTOKxX has opened a Ferengi Lockbox! Rikersbutt420 has opened a Dominion Lockbox!), but then it's not like the game lasted long enough for that to evolve.
