I'm positive most, if not all, of them would know if City of Heroes came back. I would venture to guess that the vast majority of them wouldn't continue developing City - most of them have full time jobs again.

And I'm positive that they wouldn't re-form Paragon Studios, because that is an NCsoft entity. But City (the game) doesn't need Paragon Studios (the company) to come back. It just needs to get out from under NCsoft's stranglehold.

That's true....I still despise NCsoft but, until they are willing to sell the game to whatever company is offering then, I won't criticize NCsoft anymore.

I wouldn't go quite that far. They are now on the hard part, and that's dealing with the head office overseas. The local contacts may be all gung-ho about it and think it's a great idea, but they're not the ones who make the final decisions.

That's also the part that all the other attempts have run into the roadblocks at.

Correct. So far everything is going slow but steady. It can hiccup at any point as we found out the first time, someone tried to buy the game. It is a slow plod to get through the NCSoft corporate maze. There is still hope and an effort - which is better than just hope.

Hehe, your on but I primarily played on Virtue.  I was a roleplayer there.  And be wary if our old chars make it, that'd also mean the old binds I made, to.  So expect some 'fun' moments of in-cutscene abuse.

Awesome news!  Be interested to see where the new Dev team takes the game too.  I may be in the minority but I'd like them to drop all the Praetoria/Well/Coming Storm stuff.  Though if they continued on with those stories I wouldn't care too much, so long as the game is back they could do Well/Coming Storm content until the end of time!

Heck even if no new content comes and they just run it as legacy I'll be happy.

thank you wolf for the update, its awesome to know one day we will be login in again :) what I will do first depends on if we get our old accounts back or start from scratch, either way I don't mind because I have all 5 unopened boxes for the game. also if the market is back up, I have been saving money and I will spend on all the powers I want and more character slots :) then login and soak up the game music in atlas than head over to Croatoa. :) if we get our old accounts I have a very rare recipe for ya wolf as a thank you from me.

If and when this happens, I think the game should be launched with an event if possible, or maybe since we've missed all the events for a few years they could just string them together one after the other. And if we get our data back I'll be on my Traps/Sonic, or maybe my Fire/Cold ready for anything! I'll also be looking for AlienOne in Cimerora. Speed ITF! At any rate, thanks for your dedication and being our liaison Ironwolf.

I have an idea. Ironwolf should get a special title in game. Resurrector maybe?

Look at how much buzz has surrounded other games that have come back or been allowed to shift to "emulators." If City Of comes back, it will make all the usual news outlets. Hell, Eliot, over at Massively, may have to revive the The Mild-Mannered Reporter. :)

That could be fun. i primarily played support* characters and enjoyed running every TF/SF/Trial in the game. Pick one and i'm in.

*Never played a healer in CoH, ever, but i did use heals as part of my toolkit if they were available and needed. Also, my Miasmists tended to emit large green numbers frequently as a side effect of debuffing enemies. Occasionally useful even if it was a bit distracting at times.

I have an idea. Ironwolf should get a special title in game. Resurrector maybe?

No they will release the old game first. I don't know at what level but since I24 was a bit buggy still it might be at I23 just to let everyone back into a nice stable game. Please understand these folks are like US. They love the game and that's why they are doing this.

Afterwards they do plan to update the engine - at some point.

Hopefully if they go for Unreal Engine 4, they take advantage of Open GL to allow users running OSes like XP to continue playing. From what I've read on Epic's forums, they're planning on (or have already implemented?) this possibility so that OSes without DX11/DX12 support can still run UE4 games.

And I still hope for Open GL support anyway because when I do get around to building another computer for dedicated gaming, it will likely run on SteamOS or some other flavor of Linux.

 Thank you Ironwolf for both your efforts and the updates. This is good news that things are progressing. I can understand how slow business deals can get done especially when dealing with a corporation. Its better to move surely with solid steps.
