Of things I wish to do again, sewers run and perhaps various taskforces.  Actually show off my skills at the corruptor class again.

Actually kick butt on the scale I used to due to my being able to use powers to defend myself instead of depending on someone to take all the hits for me and some other tool demanding of all the credit healing him all day.

Actually have fun in a game and not be called a battery or get gear-checked over whether I could be a battery.....

....not play some other character the developers dictate I play and play my own in missions again.

Yeah.

You know, my brother and I used to duo 5-man instances in WoW. Even some of the other "harder" games out there didn't necessarily pigeon-hole you quite as much as many people think. Gear and level checking and such are generally more due to general incompetence rather than to absolute requirements to meet certain gear or level requirements.

Or as a reward they let beta testers keep their characters.

Or as another reward they let beta testers start 12 hours early so they can grab every single possible good name.

I know it's usually more due to incompetence, I was just half describing some of my weaker teams in DCUO I had to experience.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

I really don't see the issue with beta testers keeping their test characters.  So they get a headstart on getting to L50 again, big deal.  Anyone at any time can reroll a toon and start again at L1.

Also another thing I would do once able to log in again is send my characters to Pocket D to visit Null the Gull and deactivate Group Fly and speed boost.

OK well then you won't be disappointed if they do that and you are not selected for beta testing :)

EVERY beta I have ever been in they have had system wide bumps to higher levels as well... so that all level content can be tested (for example so that the itrials can be tested to make sure they are working properly). I am glad to know that on launch day you have no problem logging in as a level 1 while there are +3 toons who were auto-leveled to 50 by the system in the game... but I'm not.

There's no reason CoH Legacy Beta should deviate from any of the true betas that the original CoH had....

The point of beta is not to get a head start...it's to BETA TEST the game to make sure that it works properly.

Oh you guys and gals... I think you fail to take into account that EVERYONE will be beta testing it,  I know for sure that I wont be sitting on the sidelines waiting if I have a choice, and I know the missing worlds team wont keep us waiting lol.

there is also the possibility that NCSoft wont allow time for a beta. Where they demand it goes straight into maintenance mode for all.

Also, For the sake of the game this time please don't use copyrighted or trademarked names! especially not from the start as when the game returns it will be returning with a noose around it's neck with a very short rope attached to NCSoft's hands that says "just in case"

we had all better be on our best behavior till the game makes them loads of cash, and the first load of cash doesn't count because that will probably just cover the servers and efforts to get it into maintenance mode.

I wouldn't pull anything silly like trademarked costumes or such until the game makes at least 50 or 100 mil.

Also when the game returns, PLEASE tell your friends and random people BE A PUSHER! hand out self made fliers if you need to.

the more players actively buying things the better, NCSoft probably isn't against completely opening the game even to new developments, the catch is there has to be the money behind it!

As an English teacher I will be introducing Chinese college students to the game as a method of teaching them English. and, well hehe, it will just spin out of control from there.

if the game becomes popular in China NCSoft will definitely create new developments. Edit; or at least finish the incarnate content and finish making i25 and maybe i26
There is always another way. But it might not work exactly like you may desire.

A wise old rabbit once told me "Never give-up!, Trust your instincts!" granted the advice at the time led me on a tripped-out voyage out of an asteroid belt, but hey it was more impressive than a bunch of rocks and space monkies.

The level bumps and stuff happen during closed beta, characters are then wiped before open beta if you're going to allow people to keep the characters through launch.

Actually Paragon Studios did said that in the future Issue updates Tyrant did redeemed himself and replace Statesman's position. I think they said it was not until Issue 27-ish. I remember them mentioning this on a web article. They also said they was going to develop 28 Issues in City of Heroes with a Moonbase everybody wanted and they'll stop making updates.

Bit of a flashback, but I've been offline for a few days.   Protean (John Hegner) actually mentions this in all three AMAs.  For example:

Quote from: lore AMA 2A) I was championing the position that during the Battalion war Tyrant would be taken out of lock up by the last loyal vestiges of Vanguard to help against Battalion. The idea being that Earth was losing the war not because they didn't have someone of Statesman's power, but because they lost him as a symbol, a banner for everyone to rally around. Even in a severely weakened state, Tyrant would don Statesman's costume and become that symbol, rallying Earth behind a lie, but for the greater good. The result would be one of the major turning points of the war, and afterwards, Tyrant/Marcus Cole, would reveal to the world the lie that turned things around, and prove that the power wasn't in any one man, it was in everyone. They didn't need that symbol, just something greater than themselves to believe in again. And kicking Battalion's ass was a good start. (John)

As for Scirocco:

Quote from: lore AMA 1STM: Scirocco and Ice Mistral would've gone hero. Red Widow would've replaced Ice Mistral's TF. Scirocco's patron arc would become flashbackable for anyone to do at 35+. Scirocco would be removed from the world but NOT from any missions because that was a major pain to do and I still didn't do it correctly. Positron's granddaughter. Doing Scirocco's personal story arc, which was about 12-13 missions, would grant you the Mirage badge and unlock all the patron power pools. The personal story arc could be done on a hero or a villain.

I won't directly quote the larger part, but I'll sum up: each mission would be less than five minutes long (so not as long as the sheer number of missions makes it sound).  The missions were apparently all finished and playable except for the cutscenes.  Running Scirocco's arc would also allow heroes to get Patron pools without side-switching.

... that's another reason I'm still sad the game went down.  So many stories left unfinished.  Even if it comes back tomorrow, those stories are doomed to forever be unfinished. :(

Question what is the first thing you look forwards to doing again when the game returns?

for example STF? RTR? hami? ITF? ETC.

also who wants to join an ALL main TFs run? as soon as I get to 50 and slotted I'm running one.

First, register, log in, try to reserve the names of my old toons, and maybe in some cases the name they wanted but couldn't have.

I think I might actually do the tutorial, and do all the low-level arcs that I normally sewer-run past, just to get back into the groove. Hell, I might even go to the Hollows.

Missing Worlds... will not be handling CoH Legacy.

NCSOFT will more than likely have no oversight/involvement in CoH Legacy. As it stands right now COH Legacy will be a static MMO (Issue 23)... but COH 1.5 hopes to continue the advancement of COH once it's been ported to Unreal 4.

Yep, MWM is not and will not be involved. They're busy with CoT.

As the intended deal stands (and like all things in-progress this is theoretically subject to change) NCSoft would retain no control over the CoH IP. The worst they could possibly do is yank the license for the Engine, but I have a feeling the contract will be worded to prevent that. and even if they DO do that...then it just means I have to work faster. -shrugs-
