What was your favorite line from an NPC?

I never turned down an invite for Flux's Frostfire mish. During the cutscene, he'd get interrupted by a thug, turn around and frost him, and say "Shutup you moron!" Dunno why but I'd say it with him and laugh every time. I'm smilin' just thinkin' about it.

I seem to remember one of The Family (speaking to a terrified victim), "Your mouth wrote a check, and now your face is going to pay." Always made me laugh.

As well as a +1 for Fergusun's homies speech, there's one from a nemesis mission where a guy has created an automaton girlfriend which has speech with things like [INSERT FLIRTATIOUS DIALOG] in it, but I can't identify the contact or mission.

The McHackersmith hero-side Tip mission, maybe? I remember the automaton gal in that one having some similar lines.

My two favorites that stand out in my mind:

Two Freakshow, from "The Cult of the Shaper" Story Arc:

Before combat:

Freakshow 1: You know,
Freakshow 2: What?
Freakshow 1: this whole 'Cult of the Shaper' thing was fun at first,
Freakshow 2: True.
Freakshow 1: but it's starting to go a little too far.
Freakshow 2: Dude, I was so thinking the exact same thing. Maybe we should go back after this is over?

Combat start:

Freakshow 1: Ah, man! Why do we keep falling into these patterns of self-destructive behavior?

Another one is a random Skull in Kings Row (pretty sure that's where I heard it, might have been in a mission):

Skull Ganger: I'm going to do a B&E on your face! Wait... that didn't sound right...

There are others, but those are the two that stand out at the moment :)

Doc Buzzsaw had some cool lines too " Oh, what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaught of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious living crystal. How could this have all gone wrong?" for example.

Reading through these is great xD I think it was a morality mission. I can't remember half of what they said, but it was the one where the woman was trying to convert the freakshow. Just that entire mission. Every part of it is some of my favorite dialogue.

The last thing I did in-game was walk a friend through the Mender Tesseract TF redside, because he'd never run in before. We were clicking on everything looking for all the hidden hilarious messages. It was my favorite TF because it was loaded with some of the most outrageous NPC comments in the entire game. AAAGH! I wanna run it again SOOO bad now.

One of my faves was Lady Grey.  You are there to defend her from Nemesis in a conference room.  Her angry response to his monologue is:

"Pretty Little Head!!!"

Not really an NPC line but I've always had this in my head from the hours of loading screen *tips*

"Truly, I am merely a gifted surgeon, and nothing more."

"You fool! He's merely a gifted surgeon, and nothing more!"

"We must attack the hero and completely ignore Dr. Stephen Fayte!"

"Ah. Well, I'll just let you handle this."

"Yes, as he is merely a surgeon and nothing more, he is no threat to us."

After the fight -

"That was a timely extraction from imminent peril, as I am merely a surgeon and nothing more."


The great part about this gag is if you go along with it in RP: "I'm glad we got him out of there, for he is merely a gifted surgeon and nothing more." 

Once had someone say: "Now wait a minute! You're just repeating what he said! He's got you under mind control, he's some kind of sorcerer supreme!"

"No my good man, you have it all wrong, for he is merely a gifted surgeon, and nothing more..."

Etc... Etc... :D

This was one of my all-time favorite missions. One, because of the NemStaff, and two, because of that line right there. So yeah, that one.

Also, I did love the "those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't" as mentioned earlier.


I forgot the exact quote, but it's one of Fusionette's during the Vanguard set of missions. I was on my primary Rogue alt and she is the ONLY one to give the "This is my cousin" line to. He was mortified and it was epic. XD Also, Sand's "I'm an arbiter" in reply to anything was great.

There were some things that were just generic NPC chatter, I think.

It wasn't supposed to be said by an NPC but the "you've been brainwashed too" line from the villain tutorial has become a running joke with some of my friends.
