Fox offers "well wishes" to Firefly Universe Online

We should keep an eye on this to see how they fair. It could serve as a model or a warning for any of our various efforts.
I wouldn't use the word "replace," but there's no word for "take over for you and make everything better almost immediately," so we just say "replace."

I tried to dance like this once.  The ladies, they cowered in fear, and had some big burly dude kind of 'suggest' I should leave and not come back.

So, since Chinese language and culture informed so much of the show, and we can assume a similar esthetic, here, do you suppose it'll be popular in Asia? Of course, I'm barely half serious, but I do remember reading that the show was popular with Chinese speakers, especially for the Bilingual Bonus.

Heh, it would have been cool if, for dubbed versions in China, they had also dubbed the original Mandarin comments with English instead.
 ;D

Although, they very possibly may not have gotten away with that so well, as there's a bigger chance of those English words being understood there.

and we all know just how wrong Fox has been about Firefly in the past. I would like to see this game get off the ground. Mainly because I'd like to play as an Alliance character.

So, first Asheron's Call 2 got revived, and now Firefly Universe Online is coming back.

Is this the start of a trend?

FU Online... lol...

I did not catch that! Ha! :) Just goes to show MMOs need to be a bit more creative than to simply append "universe" and/or "online" to the end of an established franchise. Why can't more game titles follow the naming trend of You Are Empty?

Or maybe it is deliberate; a big old...flying finger...to Fox.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but Kotaku outed this as a fake created by the "Yes Men" comedy troupe.

Sorry.
If you see me posting here, you need to tell me to stop it and get back to writing.

It's been pushed from ":gonk: :gonk:" range into "??????" range. Read the last couple posts by FUO on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/FireflyUniverseOnline

It may, in fact, be real.

I hadn't heard of these The Yes Men. I, for one, have added "firefly universe online" to my Google News feed, as classes start back up next week, taking the bulk of my time for active searching away from me. I will be doing some digging into these The Yes Men, though.

I'm skeptical of a firefly game.  For me at least, the cast and writing made it so special, not really the universe so much.  Never the less, I hope it turns out well.

I expect that much like CoH, if there gets to be a 'town' for Browncoats to be in, they'll be in it, if only just to hang out and talk about Firefly.  With their 'no really, I would look like this if it were real!' avatars.

/I'd be a lot like Wash, I imagine.
