Beta Last Stand

We on Beta were, I think the last server to go down, at almost half an hour after midnight. Many of us went down fighting the hordes of Devouring Earth in the RWZ, and I would like to personally thank everyone who stood with me in the league until the final end.

I was there too. Glad to see you post about it.

I had been spending the the final hours and minutes on my home server of Liberty. When it shut down I had a whim to see if beta was still up. To my surprise it was! I had logged out in RWZ on top of the outer Vanguard bunker. Was immediately attacked by a giant DE creature! I ran into the building and was met by a hoard of heroes rushing out. It must have been a dozen or so. We engaged the Avatar of Hamidon and, though he had the upper hand at first, defeated him! A minute later beta died too.

It was great to get one last helping of CoH after I thought it was gone for good. Thanks to my impromptu teammates on beta!

Sorry to have bailed on you right at the end there Greigor, but we had only a couple minutes left before the deadline, and I had a very specific way I wanted Kaiser Tarantula to leave CoH. I did, however, enjoy being with you on that RWZ Hamidon team, and I'm glad that my Demons/Thermal Mastermind, Lord Banefire could provide the -Res and -Regen needed to bring that overgrown amoeba down.

I was Fiona PS. I was kissing pavement quite frequently during that battle and doing it when we got booted at exactly 1:20 A.M. PST.

Glad to have been there. It my first character, my main, and my best. Almost 7 years old. I think it was proper she was the one I ended with.

On beta, a copy of my main toon went out with the servers after having logged off in RWZ, surrounded by Hamidons everywhere. Seemed appropriate for a Praetorian character, in a morbid sort of way. At least the live-server version went out more peacefully in Atlas. :P

I was there with my 50 Ichaerus Illrath, standing at the top of Cole's building in Nova Praetoria(Ichaerus is a Loyalist Praetorian Villain), standing watch until near the end. Just listening to the chatter of reports coming in, and seeing heroes and villains from other servers flood in to continue the fight until 0018, when the beta server went down. I do have some screenshots of when I was there, with some of the chatter. Also a few fraps videos that I was able to record. I think I was the only one in Nova Praetoria, however.

If it means anything, I would've been there, had I been on Crimson Crush. He was a Resistance Praetorian Hero, so he would've been at the foot of Cole's statue, making whatever gesture at it that I could feel was rudest, and telling Praetor White to buzz off.

Alas, I had to be on Kaiser Tarantula. I came into Beta to play him, and I intended to end my time on CoH with him, too.

I was on bet as my Preatorian character, Embyron. I fought the DE for a while but as the deadline hit? I thought of all my friends from AP33 and felt compelled to go to the park to hold a Torch and wait out the end with others. I heard you dropped that Avatar with 2 seconds left. Clearly Hammie lost we retook Embyon's home world. >:) Also to the crab spider? Mine ended his life on top of tower in GV. :) Staring down upon the island screaming glory to Lord Recluse as the end game.

I logged my Victorian Praetorian Dapper Scrapper in Atlas, drinking tea, a few hours before the end. I'd like to think he escaped in the red phone box in Night Ward. I had a Resistance Villain logged out in Imperial, too.

Forget which villain/rogue I used, but I saw that final redside speech as well.

Met the end in Atlas Park 35(!), crouching on a railing in front of City Hall surrounded by dozens of friends & comrades, with Zwill hovering overhead. After Mapserving out a few minutes early I went on the TwitchTV stream where Hit Streak & the Devs were partying like it was 2012. When it became clear Beta was still active, I logged in, one last time (to Two Yellow Dots, unprecedented except for huge releases of new content) on the original Copper Cockroach, my Darkness Control test character. I joined the crowd under Atlas and danced until the end (/em Shuffle).

Kudos to Bio Armor Tanker Malignant Tumor, wherever you are, for entering the last-ever post in chat. ***YOU WIN!!*** A true Tanker, he (she? it?) went into eternity craving combat.
