Orchestrated Efforts Against Us:

I was wondering when and if this was going to start happening, I saw the same thing at last year's occupy events.

It seems, some people are targeting our outreach, in the form of reporting blogs as spam, and unsanctioned in game activity, claiming to be the movement, spamming web sites in game, etc.

This isnt surprising, and its easy to get paranoid about who is doing it.

It may just be, individual griefers, and independent kids who have their hearts in the right place.  It might be more orchestrated efforts.

As far as I know, the Titan team (.... Team Titan?) is the leading orchestrator out there.  If you hear of something else, just mention 'I dont think that is part of the Titan Effort'.

Dont get too balled up in who is doing what.  IF this is orcestrated counter action, they are designed to break us up and fragment our unity.

Keep positive, encourage game play, and fun factors.

I have been setting up Flashmobs for example on various servers.

Anyway, this stuff is probalby going to happen.  Stick together, stay positive, stay focused.  Keep calm.  Carry on!

Team Titan! GO!

Who does this sort of thing? It's one thing to be apathetic, but this...

Maybe it's the tinfoil hat talking but the only party I can see having an invested interest in us giving up and going away and that won't be instantly damaged if they're found out is Nexon/NCSoft themselves.

Paindancer

Its easy to start thinking that way, and frankly we may never know.

This is a grass roots campaign and anyone really can pick up the #savecoh tag and use it.  Some people, want to be hostile just for the sake of it.

Bottom line is, it doesnt matter and this is to be expected a bit.

Dont let it ruffle your feathers.  If anything, let it make us tighter and more co-ordinated.

I wasn't aware of this...but now I am, thanks to this thread.

I guess those people are getting the attention they want. *grin*

Hopefully this will get others called to push #saveCOH harder. The twitter feed for #SaveCoh is being pushed by the same people, need everyone to be there like they were at the rally.

As mentioned, this is a grassroots movement. Any grassroots movement has to police itself carefully, lest less considerate members come to monopolize the delivery of the message. All we can do to boost the signal/noise ratio is boost the signal, though--the "noise" will always be there.

I prefer to attribute such things, by and large, to well-intentioned but overzealous individuals than any sort of conspiracy; in my experience, 95% of the time, people are well-meaning but act poorly instead of being well-coordinated but malicious. Of course, that other 5% of the time does a lot of damage...

Heh, we had a group of 'anarchists' repeatedly try to disrupt Occupy LA events through agressive means.  They wanted a riot, they wanted the coverage.

My wife gave the suggestion that they should do a protest at Disneyland, it being a corperate media source.  They would get the attention and persecution they wanted.

Funny how quickly they backed down at the thought of going up against the mouse.

*sigh* Well... I guess it wouldn't be a Superhero story if the Green Goblin wasn't bonking Spiderman on the head while he's trying to save a cable car full of citizens.

My only regret is that this is too many characters to quote on Twitter.  :)

"It wouldn't be a superhero story if the villain didn't show up", possibly with "to cause trouble" at the end but I think it stands without it.

It's probably trolls. There are always people who enjoy pissing other people off or otherwise harassing them simply for the sake of doing so. They probably don't care one way or the other about our cause, except as a means to be obnoxious.

If this is the work of trolls, then drawing attention to their antics is going to encourage them.

Bingo. :) Don't take the bait.

The trolls are everywhere.  It's nothing particularly new, and nothing we can do is going to stop them.  Just gotta roll with the punches and continue our effort in positive ways.  Not in flame wars over LFG or comments on media articles.

(laugh) I'm an old D&D player. Only way to keep trolls from coming back is to burn the bodies. Tends to be socially unacceptable, though, so I suppose we have to settle for a firm /ignore. My favorite command in every MMO I've ever played.

While burning people certainly would get us that oh-so-tempting mainstream coverage, we should probably not.  UNLESS someone volunteers to set themselves on fire.  Not it!

But yeah, /ignore is nice, though I hate when the ignored continues to talk often and the chat just confuses me. Haha.

Ignore 'em all, let the GM's sort 'em out, I say. (grin) Fastest /ignore on the net, man. I've designed an anti-social networking site, but I don't wanna tell anybody about it, would ruin the place. Bag, humbug.  ;)

That only works if you don't register on the site, either.  :)

Or those you do NOT have on /ignore tend to quote those you DO have on /ignore.

Kinda defeats the purpose. ;)

We ran the Atta mission today.  I thought we'd 'arrested' every troll in the Hollows.  Guess a few slipped through our fingers.

Yes, unfortunately someone almost always becomes a troll snack.
