Something else you can do that's VERY important! Play the game!

Yeah, thanks for the torch emote. I'll plant one in Architect!

Mistress Urd

Good suggestion Hyperstrike. I am playing the game about as much as I can. A couple of hours a night.

I don't plan to consider a plan B until mid to late October, hopefully by then we will know more.

Teege

I make it a point to log on daily to play or at the least park a character at City Hall. As stated it's important to keep the numbers up in addition to the other efforts being made. More or less try and enjoy the game as you would have prior to "the announcement", and yes I too find myself struggling for motivation at times but now more than ever is important to be strong - if this cause is something important to you, I promise that strength is inside you. Also get some "Save CoH" or "Save the Paragon Devs" AE missions created; it'd give other players a chance to have fun and save our favorite developers at the same time!

Edit: fixed typo (imagine that!  ;) )
Keep fighting the good fight!

Okay, a Facebooker by the name of Kellan Pine actually posted this one up.  And it's really on point.

I know some people are bummed, and others are looking for some modicum of closure.  But remaining in-game is also important.  If NCSoft is seeing a lot of protests, but game traffic tails off to nothing...well, problem!
After reading this, I've mulled it over for a few days, and posted this on the forums as well... but I wanted to share it here:

By no means am I to be credited with this, but it's the truth. If I'm right, Hyperstrike was the first to say this (though I could be wrong but I don't care, it's good advice...) and bears repeating, if we really want to win against this.

One of the biggest things they're going to look at (if they're inclined to look at anything) is numbers now. We need to show support and solidarity BY PLAYING THE GAME.

I'm sure they'd like nothing more than for us to vent our spleen and then move on to other games (their games if given a choice). That justifies them closing it down. That's what they're hoping on if they're determined to shut us down. We made noise and that's great, BUT THAT'S NOT ENOUGH. Not until November 30th when there's no choice. If you feel the need to protest after that, there's no recourse but to speak with your wallet.

Right now, we still have our game, and leaving can be just as vital as our voice when it means we aim to stay.

Titan contiunes to come up with 'solidarity' events. The next Positron Rally (on Thursday and Saturday to run both Positron TF's is) just more fire in the bellies of our participants, and data to those who can mine it to show how important we are to those who swore to stand behind Paragon Studios... Both it's employees and the game they created. Each of these are pivitol in making our case.

It hurts. I know. It's sad to look at... (whatever) I know. The thing is, for now, we CAN'T STOP PLAYING.

Us 'moving on' is exactly what they want. If, 3 months from now there's little to no playerbase, they'll close the doors with little regret, and probably little press. They will have won. After all, WE gave up. It's not enough to have energy now...

If it means so much to us, honoring those relationships that we know will contiune beyond this game...

If it means so much to us, those relationships that have passed us from other causes, that we'll never see again.

If it means so much to us, the server communities we formed, and will never see in this inacarnation again..

IF IT MEANS SO MUCH TO US, the development team that we praise for their time here and don't want it to stop... further enriching this game in ways we've rarely or never seen in any other MMO...

We need to keep playing. We, the players, need to dredge up the strength to log in and keep fighting the good fight (for heroes) and taking what's ours (for the villains). As the dev team said... without us, they are nothing.

We need to keep being their heroes (and villains!!!) We need to keep logging in and letting NCSoft know we support Paragon city 'til the bitter end!!!

I don't care how sad it is, how mad this makes you. These things don't matter. If we have any hope of saving our City, it's through actions AS MUCH AS WORDS.

Keep logging in. Keep saving the day (or taking it over) keep the 'little guy' safe (or keep robbing the bank). Whatever it is to keep our City vital. KEEP DOING IT.

IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO TOTALLY GET OUR MESSAGE ACROSS WHEN WE'RE NOT DOING COMMUNITY/SERVER EVENTS TO SHOW SOLIDARITY.

LET NCSOFT WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT, AND WE WILL KEEP PLAYING 'TIL THE LIGHTS GO OUT.

I don't ask you do this for me. At the end of the day, I'm a nobody lurker who only wished they could contribute more than they did, and you probably don't even know who I am.

Do this for yourselves, who claim to love Paragon and the Rogue Isles so much. Do this for the Game Developers who are not just losing a game, they're losing a job!

But again, just as importantly, do this for yourself...

If you love this game, spend as much time in it as you can, because if everything else fails, you will at least knew you did everything could could to suck the marrow out of it and learned and felt all you could for this City until the bittersweet end.

Thank you.

A player and citizen of Paragon City.

Just checked Hyperstrike's source and quoted it on my OP on the forums.

The game has seemed more quiet than usual. This is a shame, this is when we need to make our biggest noise yet! Drink all we can of this great virtual world. Make sure it is known it doesn't die with this. We'll carry it on in tabletop games and in any way we can, for those who will not let it go.

I know it won't for me. Paragon means (not 'the' world but) A world to me.

I have finished 2 Level 50 characters JUST THIS WEEK! As an ALTaholic, I've got more characters than I have open slots (I can't buy any more due to the store closing) and I am trying to get as many of them "Finished" (To level 50) as I can in the next 3 months.

So far I've done Cheshire Kate (Ill/Emp Controller, Freedom), who started at 43, and Wayward Seraphim (Dual/Will Scrapper, Infinity), who started at 44. Next is Mark Forth (EnB/EnM Blaster, Guardian), who is starting at Level 42. Not sure how many I get done, as they will be starting at a lower level each time., but I figure this will give me something to focus on to keep me from thinking too much about "The End Of Days".

I'm trying to get my first level 50 here, although I'm a three year vet. :/

Anyone know of any good farming missions I should be aware of around level 46-49? Like one with a crap ton of fake nemesis? (Mission end xp per kill... nom.)

Thanks!

AE. You can build your own farm pretty easily in there. You'll get tickets instead of normal drops, but I doubt that matters much to you. There's also the old Freakshow mission from one of the Portal Corps. people, but they may have modified that idk.

I'd like to leave a toon in vigil for some length of time when I cant be there, but ive never actually done it before. (I assume its when players are afk but they have a gray message above their head instead of just "afk")

Can someone give me some quick instruction please?

Thanks! :D

The commaned to put "<custom text here>" in an AFK bubble over your character's head is /afk <custom text here>, where <custom text here> is, of course, your chosen text.

To keep the game from automatically logging you out due to inactivity, you'll need to be on a Task Force. Ouroboros missions and AE missions count--just get one, set it as the active mission, put your custom message over your head, and go about your day.

I hear /maxinactivefps 1 will tell the game to only render 1 frame per second whenever the CoH application isn't in the foreground--that would really save on processor cycles if you want to use your computer for other things while making a statement.

I log on and chat some, but unfortunately almost all of my global friends and people in my global chans have disappeared to other games. My main global chan used to always have loads of people on - right now there are 5 of us :(

I am trying to stay as positive as I can...just very hard to do :(

Did anyone start a SaveCOH global channel?  (Just a thought.)

How about a "SaveCOH" SG on each server as well? Since so many SGs seemed to have emptied out, it could be a good way to galvanize the active players who are left. I'm not VIP, so I don't think I could start one, but I'd sure as heck join it.

Yes there is a global SaveCOH channel. It was started during the Unity Rally in AP.
It's an open channel so anyone can join although at this point it might be full.
I found the crappy town where I'm the hero!
But then NCSoft took it away :(

Double XP has been turned on so get those characters to 50!

Just chiming in to say, I DID MY PART, and played with a team that defeated the Hami on Pinnacle tonight.

With BH.  His first.  He's so totally gonna save his HamiO forevars.

We had 3 Moonfires and a Renault all going at once on Champion server last night, plus I think someone got some iTrials going.  Biggest challenge was finding people to actually take group lead (which still blows my mind 8 years later...)

Short version: don't just log in, DO something, and bring people along.  Make noise.  People are looking for activity, in globals, in zones, in broadcast.  Run a DFB if you have to, just reassure the wider audience that isn't tuned in here or on the forums that there's still a reason to stay, as opposed to stray.
