One way to get lots of awareness and net traffic will be to have a meme that's pretty quickly visible in the usual places. I'm thinking Memebase itself, but there are going to be plenty of other sites it could be seen.

I'm happy to create said meme, but wanted to get some opinions first on its content, in particular if there's a Titan-approved message to send. The banner alone wouldn't catch on, so to me there seems to be two routes to go, the funny or the serious. I'd prefer serious but funny would strike more of a chord with the meme crowd in general.

Getting submitted and then approved on these would be great, getting onto the Memebase front page itself even better, and I think we have the weight of numbers here to make it happen easily enough. I will of course put up a direct link when the meme's ready for voting.

Friend of mine in-game (who doesn't yet have an account here - I DID suggest he get one.) had this idea:

"New meme idea... since I'm not especially artistically talented: a duck type shooting gallery (The NCSoft MMO shooting gallery?) with all of NCSoft's game titles past & present on the ducks instead of targets. Put a bullet-holes in the heads of the 5 they've killed and leave the cross-hairs near GW2 or Wildstar to imply they could be next if they don't perform."

Important - would have to make sure it's understood that the shooter is NCSoft, not anyone else. DEFINITELY not us!

The monster used to represent the GameKiller is a Korean version of Godzilla called Yongary. He also used a monster from the Korean horror film The Host in the Auto Assault pic, but mostly it's the more risible Yongary. Atop his head is a bandana - a Guild Wars bandana, to which is added the NCSoft logo. And by referencing all of NCSoft's murdered MMOs, he's used the old classic ploy of repetition across several images to reinforce a single concept (including multiple uses of the word 'world').

The torch vigil is a wonderful symbol, especially to us, but I really like what Turjan has done. The pics he made are relevant to people outside of our SaveCOH campaign because they label NCsoft as the 'Game Killer'. I think the intention of the 'Game Killer' meme is to direct negative attention to NCsoft. While they don't necessarily shine a light directly on SaveCOH, I hope that they can be shared and seen by many gamers, getting the word out that NCsoft is a game publisher with questionable practices.

That being said, I would love to see a torch meme out there as well.

This might not be what you had in mind, Segev, but the idea came to me and there IS a torch. I encourage everyone to make something like this. Make it your own toon and personalize the words if you have another quip in mind. Post them all over the place!

i think that this would be good to use

ncsoft is the big bad empire, and paragon studios is in the position of lando calrisian, and we the players are in the position of the heroes (han, leia, ect)

ncsoft manipulating us through the devs, and then ncsoft "changes the deal" to meet their needs paragon studios is just caught in the middle

I must admit that the image I keep having in mind is from just one source.

The fact that the sub-slogan - Freedom Forever - is absolutely perfect should not escape us.

I keep wanting to paraphrase one of V's lines:
"Gamers should not be afraid of NCsoft deciding to close their game.
NCsoft should be afraid of the gamers who they forget they serve."

Or more broadly, to encourage players of other games to add more support:

I believe the original quote was "nightmare" for the bolded word above. I think we should use that, because "PR nightmare" is an easy-flowing phrase in modern business lexicon.

While we can't use the original's end line of "We will kill you," I think we need to find something equally pithy. "release the trolls" is just too many extra syllables and breaks the rhythm. Even when the unfiltered-by-this-forum version would be two syllables shorter. "We will troll you" would be better for matching the cadence, but is less...ominous. I'm not coming up with a good suggestion, though, unfortunately.

Kudos on the adaptation first draft. Just trying to offer critique; I likely wouldn't have come up with the original idea despite thinking that is one of the finest badass quotes in modern moviewriting.

AP33 is more focused message. Everyone that's into games knows NCsoft many would already know the MMOkiller nickname. Combining this with Images that people know and you get a MEME that would spreed.

AP33 would get to many "Um... what's AP33?"
