Import/Export data chunks - am I doing something wrong?
« on: February 10, 2011, 03:24:27 PM »
Sorry if this is in the wrong section or if I'm not posting right, I'm a n00b at posting on here  :o.

My problem is importing and exporting data chunks to and from people or the forums. I'm using "short form export" then i have the top two boxes are checked under "data chunk" the first is checked by default and the second one is "Only export data chunk." Whoever tries to import that file gets an error message; i also get one when i try to copy and paste the same data chunk. is this a bug or am i not doing something right? could someone else try it out and see if it works for them please?

Edited:
Okay, if i just export it, clear mine and then put it right back it works, but it still won't work if i try to copy and paste it. i must being copying something wrong. it seems different than before. could someone give me a screen-shot or something that will show my WHAT part to copy and paste? sorry for being an r-tard  :-\

thank you,
Big SOB

It should work just fine if you copy the entire thing. Have you checked to see if it is just specific characters that have the problem (there were problems with a few specific epic powers in the 1.92 release that was fixed with a db update the following day)?

Chuck sent me his actual build file, and it will load just fine that way.  The data chunk will not import on either 1.9 or 1.92.  When importing, it gives an arithmatic error.  He data chunk that he is pasting is a correct data chunk, the problem is Mids' is messing it up on the actual export.

It was a Defender build, and as far as I know, only Epic powers that had an issue were Controller and/or Dom Epics.

There have been a couple problems with power static indexes recently. The version being used to export the build may have incorrect assignments for those.

Not unless the new build is broken too.

Edit:  To be more specific, I personally tried to expoprt the same build using both 1.9 and 1.92.  Neither version will load the data chunk.  I also had Chuck install the latest version and try exporting from it (just like I did) and still had the same issue.

Sorry I took a long time to get back on here. I'm at work...I think St0n3y has covered everything I wanted/needed to say. Other than the fact, let me reiterate this, the only way it worked for me (with my own build) was to export it, click file-->new/clear, have no other mids' running, and then import it back into my own mids' program. I couldn't even copy and paste my own build from skype.

If the Static Indices were the problem, then it would work just fine when dealing with itself (since it uses the same set for both importing and exporting). Can you or Stoney copy and paste the export here, using code tags? Also, can you put a copy of the saved file? If I have it, I can step through it in the debugger to find what part of the code is having problems.

I will talk to St0n3y tomorrow and see what we can do.

I'm really sorry for the delay, again. I didn't get an email; Moe told me I needed to repost with a response.  I don't know what the deal is, but it does seem to be working now. I haven't tried it with St0n3y to see if it does the same between us, but Moe and I bounced it back and forth and it was fine. I sent him a Defender and a Brute build; they both worked and worked for me, so I'm a bit baffled.

I'm having the same issue importing a build my friend sent me, I just updated to 1.92 and I cant even export a build I made and reimport it into mids.  I am just copying everything that the export spits out, header and all but I get an error every single time.  This is the build I am trying to view and I get this error message when trying to import.

For some reason the update from earlier this month wasn't applying - removed and installed -- works fine now

I ran into an import issue as well.  I saved this in v 1.91, but it won't open in 1.92. I tried to import it using Sentinel and got the same error.

"Unable to read beyond the stream"

here is the chunk as pulled with Sentinel. I did several others with no issues to speak of.

Yeah, Tog, your build is breaking at level 41 due to an incorrect static index for Bile Spray.

Arkyaeon's is breaking for the same reason--Dominator Ice Mastery Sleet has the wrong static index.

For reference:
Epic.Mastermind_Leviathan_Mastery.Chum_Spray static index should be 948. (If you want to change that in the database editor by clicking where it says "4545" at the top-left when editing the Chum_Spray power, your build should import properly.)
Epic.Ice_Mastery_Dominator.Ice_Blast static index should be 4376.
