Help with Kinetic/Electric Defender

This was my first Team toon. He's 50 now. Would like to be able to farm w/ him, but I get alpha struck down. I know elec doesn't deal boat loads of dmg, but what could I do to maximize his effectiveness? SHould there be certain missions I should be farming? Specific Pools I should take? Pls and thx.
