Is there a way to get past the broken elevators?

I can't seem to move through maps because elevators and doors dont work but I can't navitage i darkness.  Is there a way around that?

For outdoor maps, you can turn clipping off (I believe one of the F keys, like F5) and fly through the door.  In outdoor zones, they usually place the interior of a building directly beneath the door, so on the overhead map, you were still 'there'.

what about indoor maps

Turning off clipping mode should still work, but the indoor maps are usually more linear.  No guarantees where the endpoints lie.
