Saw it today.
Wasn't bad. In some ways it was more scary than the original film had been.
The (main) characters didn't really act like idiots. The effects were nice enough and well done.
Sadly, if shaky-cam is not your thing, this isn't the movie for you. It's not nearly as bad as the original film, but it does have enough of it to be aggravating if it's an issue for you.
If you're a fan of the original, you'll probably enjoy it. If you didn't care for the first I don't imagine you'll like this one either.
