Star Trek Discovery

So if you haven't seen it yet.  Here it is.

I really hate the look.  Whatever happened to aesthetic design?  Someone get Gabriel from Trekkies on the line!  Someone tell his friend Peter that there is absolutely no better time to call!

It looks like they tried to marry a Cruiser with a Klingon Bird of Prey.

And I agree... too blocky.  Like they made it specifically to fit a TV set.

When you insult someone by calling them a "pig" or a "dog" you aren't maligning pigs and dogs everywhere.  The same is true of any term used as an insult.

That was basically the first thing I thought.  To me it looks like a D7 mashed with a Miranda class.  It looks like it comes from the early days of the Mirror universe where the Federation took over the Klingon empire and started cribbing starship design ideas.

That is not the main hull of a D7.

It looks, to me, as though they separated the disk and triangle of the Vulcan IDIC - like they were going for some clumsy kind of symbolism.

Hopefully this article holds water.

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/171480/20160726/star-trek-discovery-ship-design-is-not-finalized.htm

It's seems to be the trend now to put trailers out even before the concept is fully realized.  i.e. Injustice 2 with the character renderings, Justice League movie's Cyborg looking half done, and now this.  I get that everyone's under a lot of pressure to market their show in an ultra competitive line-up but isn't the whole point of a trailer is so that we could be impressed?

Since this is set in the prime universe and the ship's number is less than the original Constellation class Enterprise, I'll wager this is set pre TOS.
