OK, I've been trying to remember the title of a specific book I read awhile ago.
I don't remember the author either, so that's no help.
In a nutshell, the main character is a former "sidekick" who has realized that
he's basically unkillable, since no matter what happens, he'll just end up in a death-trap
and be somehow saved via deus ex machina.
He ends up going "villain" to stop the main NPC "Hero" who is presented as some kind of
other world (dimension) traveler who is the reason that all the other supers exist.
(kind of like the entire world is a dream/matrix thingy with that particular hero being the "real"
person who the rest of the supers revolve around).
This strike a chord with anyone?
