Reforming Countess Crey
« on: July 21, 2014, 12:17:45 AM »
I've been doing some research on the Crey Corporation as an adjunct to an idea that I came up with when starting my thread on the Praetorian Dilemma.

I know I've run those Crey missions dozens of times (notably Janet Kellum's Countess Crey arc), but it's kind of amazing how much information I'd forgotten or else just glossed over. In particular, the bit about how the "Countess" started out as somewhat idealistic, with plans for social reform and the like, but those plans got twisted into her sadistic Revenant Hero project and other mad science undetakings. Power corrupts, and all, I guess.

It got me to thinking, though- maybe there is a story that could be written about redeeming the Countess, turning her (and/or Crey Corp) back to the light? Maybe a level 45-50 arc (so that it could chronologically take place post-Arrest). Heck, maybe it would just involve redeeming her, and some other nefarious person (or even just a nameless, faceless congolomerate) could retain control of Crey Corp.

There'd need to be another evil corp to take their place then - can't have a comic book world with out at least one sinister corporation :P

True. It would probably be best to- during the same storyline- set up someone else to take her place at the head of the organization, or else just have her leave it on her path to redemption, and have it continue in its evil ways. Maybe she can get voted out by the board.  ;D

Perhaps the Count comes out of his coma and regains control, or a heretofore unnamed relative steps out of the woodwork and takes over as the executor of his estate in the wake of the Countess' notorious arrest.

I think the Countess likes power far too much to ever allow the Count to recover.
