Probably an exploitable feature, like a security hole.

Nothing really exploitable on our end, but a couple people were inadvertently linking to avatars on compromised sites that tried to download malware to people's computers. So we just disabled them entirely to be on the safe side.

Ah, so good to actually be able to put my faceless helmet upon my posts.
Anyway, with the ability to link avatars from outside URLs gone, it's ended the thread of malicious outside code. Avatar pics can't execute any malicious code from their home site when they're hosted here, since they have no connection to their home site any more.
As a positive side-effect, uploading and hosting your avatar here prevents accusations of bandwidth theft.

It also means that avatars can be scanned to ensure they are valid images, And if necessary re-encoded.

If you read the announcement, you cannot link to just any random file, you actually have to upload it now, so that means that the only form of problems would be with Titan Network, and not the hosts of the website that you are linking to (for your avatar)
Oh, right.
I admit I skimmed the announcement, heh.

No, it is the Clan Symbol for City Gangrel (World of Darkness Roleplay game, owned by White Wolf/CCP Games). I chose this one over the *basic* version because I actually like the outlining of the image. Gangrel Independent all the way.
Ohhhh. A Vampire thing. OK.
Enh. Oh well. It still looks cool.

Thanks again for that Might of the Tanker set you gave me; I put it on Sapien Spider, who was my first level 50. I would say that I'll miss him, but he and Captain Electric are now ported over to Millennium City, and they look just like Spider and Cap, and their stories aren't finished. In fact, I hope they don't stop in Millennium City, either. *Winks at all the Plan Z people*
Am I allowed to just randomly say this for the umpteenth time, though? I will miss Paragon City so much, and it still aches.

You're quite welcome. I was mostly disappointed that I didn't find more ways to give away all the stuff I still had. (And some of the things I sent to people... eventually bounced back to me, which was kind of sad too).

Some animated GIFs work, some don't. If the forums think an image is suspicious, it'll get re-encoded. It appears that animated GIFs often (but not always) appear suspicious.

<----- that over there is Atargatis, my Demon Summoner/dark Mastermind and general what-are-you-wearing girl. Most of my females were pretty much all business, but I did have a few incorrect chicks and they were among my favorite characters, because I could just have fun with their costumes.
She was about halfway through her Incarnate tree when all of this went down in August. So much unfinished business...

My first character and the only one I got to 50 (not for the lack of trying...): Silver Spartan, a soldier from an alternate Earth where the battle at Thermopylae went very, very differently (and several milennia later, Frank Miller wrote "10 000").
His backstory was not a serious effort, mashing together references to 300 and Halo, but he ended up growing on me more than I ever expected.
